For me, the best thing about Secret of Mana was the 3-player co-op. I couldn't believe it when I found that it comes from a whole series, in which all the others lack that. Well, all the ones I checked. Now I look on the wiki there's millions of them, so who knows.

I actually have the very pretty Legend of Mana for the PSOne and that supports 2 player co-op.
I also have the original on *coughcough* as well as the fan translated Seiken Densetsu 3 which I'm led to believe was also a 3 player co-op. I am rather tempted to get a DS based on some of these co-op games that it has that you can play via wi-fi. If the Mana series game actually gets released in English then that's a definite pro in favour of getting one. I also have the very first one on the GB and to be honest, still one of my favourite games. At the time, it was called Final Fantasy and was pretty much my introduction to the FF and Mana series. |

*pokes head into old thread*
Children of Mana sucked! And Legend of Mana kinda did (or it got old really fast, being SO incredibly open ended killed it for me). However, Secret of Mana is awesome, and Seiken Densetsu 3 is a pretty sweet sequel (though not as good as SoM). It makes a lot of neat improvements, but out of two things I miss were the Percent Bar atk thingy, and the fact that each character could use any weapon (and that there were orbs and stuff, instead of just buying new weaps, which was the case in SD3). Welp! It sucks |

Any of you tried Sword of Mana on the GBA? It was a remake of the original SD1 but they changed it somewhat, adding sidequests and making equipment refineable and such.
Secret of Mana was a great game, and Seiken Denetsu 3 too, I remember I'd go round a friends house and play co-op Secret of Mana on exam days after the morning exam until the afternoon exam. Good times. |
