So yeah. Since the original applications thread was lost by my own clumsiness to the mists of time we need a new one, both for the profiles that will need to be rewritten and then for the new characters we will inevitably receive.

If you're new, make sure you've read the rules before you post an app. Of course if you haven't read the rules and you're just jumping in blind, then it's unlikely you'll even read this so why am I bothering?

BIO: Southpaw is a young, vibrant, adventurous character, despite her rather plain beginnings. Having left with the colony ships, she was eager to set out on a new adventure, to have a change in pace from the mundane life that she led. However, crash landing and survival hadn’t exactly been on her ‘bucket-list’. Naturally, though, this offered up a wonderful opportunity to fill her cravings for exploration; and what better way to go about it than to scout out unknown territories?
Her bright personality and curious disposition often lands her in the wrong place at the wrong time, but that’s just part of the fun for Southpaw. The choice in the swift and small beast mode suites her a little too well; able to get her out of almost any snag that her robot mode cannot, though it’s certainly “almost”. Keeping an optimistic outlook on the situation, she does her best to be useful or stay well out of the way of those bigger than herself.
Though, Southpaw does have her faults, one of the worst being that she can assume the best in anyone, or anything. Willing to give a second chance to even the most unsavory of characters, her judgments can, at times, bring out the almost naďve aspects of her personality. However, she has a solid grip on reality, and will put aside personal ‘gut feelings’ for the safety of the group.

WEAPONS/ABILITIES: Her specialty isn’t combat, but she can be a decent shot from a distance – using a high powered rifle to pick off targets from a safe range. The small Maximal has a knack for getting herself out of tight situations with the agility that her four-legged alt. mode offers and if it comes down to close combat, an energy-based dagger of sorts serves as her defense. Southpaw, despite her lack of experience in life, also tends to lend an unbiased audio for anyone that needs to vent.

WEAKNESSES: Most obviously, the lack of experience in the ways of combat serve as a rather daunting weakness for the young Maximal. Southpaw tries to avoid confrontation if it becomes physical, but will try her damnedest to hold her ground. At times, her stubborn nature can pose a problem, especially if it involves something she is interested, or cares for. Moreover, the true horrors of War and actual battle are a new concept for her – having only heard stories from veterans of another age.

You forgot the sample post. But, since I've seen you in action over on War Bound, and since this is such a nice, well-rounded character with a lot of potential, I'm willing to waive it this time. wink.gif There is one minor error; the Maximals and Predacons were engaged in a short war for a time which just ended. The Predacons managed to successfully attack the Maximal compound and infiltrate it on the opening strike of that war, so it would no longer be an academic concept for Southpaw.

BIO: Squawktalk loves to communicate and gossip. Before he joined the Conquest expedition he worked in advertising and the media. His talent for mimicry meant that he was in demand for voiceovers, radio plays and audio downloads.
More prolific than successful Squawktalk has one of those voices that sounds vaguely familar. He has helped sell everything from lubricating oil to real estate. Spend enough time in his company and that feeling will be upgraded to overfamilar. Best known for supplying the voice of Bolts the Turbofox in a series of ads for Needlenose Industries. A contract that Squawktalk has been unable to shake off as other mechs delight in repeating Bolts various catchphrases back to him. Bored with his job and his lack of a current employment , on a whim, he signed up for action, adventure and a new start on the expedition.

During the Great war he trained as a communications specialist. His abilities and his natural propensity for gossip lead him into the field of communications intelligence. He loves to ferret out information no matter how militarily important it might be.

WEAPONS/ABILITIES:

Squawktalk has several abilities that have prevented his colleagues and superiors from giving into temptation and throwing him out of the nearest airlock. He is very good at languages. However once he had analysed the patterns in various languages and developed the software allowing all his colleagues to speak them
his job was done until a new language is encountered. In order to appear more useful than irritating he developed a talent for related systems of communication including, computer languages, codes and music. This makes him a valuable cryotographer and computer operator as well as a translator. Off duty he occupies himself with things related to his abilities, crosswords and word games which his colleagues don't mind, impressions of other Predacons which they tend to find amusing apart from the subject of the imitation. Less popular with his colleagues is his attempts to put his theoretical knowledge of music into practice. Singing, attempting to write songs and play various musical instruments...very badly.

He is equipped with a sonic boomer which allow him to focus sound either repelling objects with a wall of sound or focusing it down to pinpoint intensity.He can scan and intercept the entire electromagnetic wave spectrum. He also carries a standard laser rifle for when he can't talk his way out of or run away from trouble
WEAKNESSES:

Squawktalk lacks tact and diplomacy, he literally doesn't know when to shut up. He in fact finds it very difficult to keep quiet. He finds it near impossible to keep a secret. He is not the most imposing of mechs . He finds it difficult to get mechs to listen to him when he has an important point to make as they tend to tune him out due to force of habit. His weaponry is more likely to give him time to run away than to fatally injure an opponent unless he is very lucky, which is why he carries a laser rifle for backup. He is more likely to try and talk himself out of a situation than fight.
He is definetly more rear echelon that front line material. If he tries to process too much information it can overload his systems and he locks up temporarily.

RP SAMPLE:
For the first timers.

Squawktalk peered up from out of the wreckage of the accoustic guitar wrapped round his neck.

"Not a music lover I see."

a loud growl filled the room rattling the kit stacked on the storage room's shelves.

"aghh I see a music lover , a conosseur I'm assuming. Well I was pretty much finished here anyway. So why don't I just.....

He brushed shattered bit of wood from his shoulders.

"... tidy up in here."

There was another series of growls.

"well funny you should say that , I do tend to whistle when I work, sometimes I sing to myself, you know just a happy working song....."

Squawktalk glanced up at the mech loooming over him.

"right , you're so right it's too lovely a day to be stuck inside . Maybe I'll just go outside. Ummm....a long long way outside. Get some fresh air...

Squawktalk paused as more growls followed.

"Walking and marching songs, yes I do know a few. I wasn't going to sing any but now you've brought up the point..."

The mech moved closer to Squawktalk.

"...right, right. Well they do say that silence is golden , all the better to commune with nature..."

A claw flicked out. The growls intensified.

"funny you should mention that i am proud of my repetoire of birdsong. I am currently perfecting the songs of 32 types of birds native to this area...

There ensued more and deeper growling.

"you're so right I am feeling a bit tired. Maybe I'll just go and lie down on a recharge bed and rest. What an excellent idea.

BIO: Foo is a relatively young mech, brought online in the days of the Great Upgrade. During the following cycles of peace he discovered troves of information regarding ancient forms of martial arts that most of his people had all but forgotten in exchange for better firepower and other technological advances. He was fascinated by all but the path of Circuit-Su called to him the most. It was a path that spoke of inner peace, tapping into the energies of one's spark, it was said that true masters could attain true Virtuana, becoming one with the Matrix and all who had come before them. They taught the way of the unarmed strike, forsaking all weaponry for the strength one could find within their own servos, but when one has attained enough mastery of Circuit-Su they can augment their strikes with energy from their own spark. Foo studied for several cycles poring over every byte of data he could find. When he had finally returned from his self imposed exile of discovery and training he sought a way to aid his fellow Cybertronians and he felt there were few callings more honorable than a defender of others so he joined the Maximal security forces. He had always hoped to attract students to himself to spread the knolwedge of Circuit-Su so that it would not be lost to time, but became disillusioned when he realized how few were interested. He had joined the colonial mission because he had begun to feel he needed space from the rest of Cybertron at large he craved a place where he could be at one with the nature around him and away from the crowds of the thriving Cybertron.

WEAPONS/ABILITIES: The only weapons that Foo uses is his own body, be follows the path of the unarmed strike. He does however retain his claws on both his hands and feet in robot mode and has learned to incorporate them into his strikes.

*As a follower of Circuit-Su Foo is capable of tapping into his own spark energy to augment his blows, this often is merely expressed as a slight crackle of energy around the hands or feet as a strike is placed. It can also be focused into a close-range blast of spark energy (Capable of hitting opponent a foot away from the mech's hands/feet).

WEAKNESSES: Foo is only truly effective as a close range fighter, when combating someone who excels in ranged warfare he is forced to rely on his agility and try to avoid serious injury. Foo also is known to try to talk down opponents first, while this can be seen as a good thing, it means he hardly ever lands the first blow in an encounter.

RP Sample: Debris filled Foo's vision as he sidestepped another blast from his airborne opponent. He scanned the air for his attacker and finally spotted him through the haze of the metallic dust, there were a few opportune buildings nearby that would allow him to get on a level with his opponent. However he wanted to refrain from further violence if possible, he made a short cough-like sound and raised his voice as he called out to the flier, "I am sure we can still handle this like reasoning mechs. I was only citing you for inciting a brawl, you would have been processed and released in a couple of cycles, is it truly worth all this chaos? Do you truly wish to destroy me to avoid a slight inconvenience? I think you perhaps misjudge the weight you would burden your spark with." He dashed forward beneath the flier using the dust to cover himself, he poised himself to attack should his overtures fail.
"Come now, surely we can handle this peaceably."
His opponent responded with a pair of blind shots in his general direction. One of which scored a rather uncomfortable burn across Foo's upper arm. Foo shook his head, he would never understand why so many of his brothers and sisters chose violence as a means to handle their difficulties, it would only keep their sparks farther from enlightenment in the end. He glanced up at the buildings to his left both structures were approximately the same height, and separated only by a narrow walking path. He ran toward them and leaped at the wall of the first building hitting it feet first he pushed off and rebounded at the second building. He did this twice more until he could see the flier clearly, he leaped straight for the mech aiming a powerful kick at his back. He reached deep into himself and found the serene place where his spark was and he asked for the energy to aid him in his goals. His answer came as a soft blue energy crackled around his foot.

OK, I used it as a dump stat because to me it always brings to mind technical ability. I could bring it up to a 5 if I took 2 off strength and 1 off courage. Would that be more fitting?

BIO:
Ever since her creation, Blackbolt has been surrounded by pain and strife. She had a brother, who had been her closest ally and friend, accompany her through most of this long journey. Over the years they became so close, it was as if they were a couple at times, however, unbeknownst to Blackbolt, trouble was brewing in her brother's spark. One day, while on a mission together, they were ambushed and that is when she realized her twin betrayed her to join the Predacons. He had set his twin sister up so that he might prove his worth and be able to switch sides, which did happen.

Blackbolt was beaten sorely, and left for dead. Thankfully, someone decided to go looking for her and after a long search, they found her. They brought her back to base and repaired her, asking her what had happened. When she finally explained, everyone pitied her, something she found and still finds irritating.

The experience with her brother and the Predacons turned her completely against the other side, her ferocity when fight them frightening. She held close to the Maximals, doing everything she could to busy herself, but also doing all she could to avoid confrontation with her twin. She clawed for revenge, but was wary of the day when she would have the chance to achieve it. Eventually, she had to face her brother, as a foe of course, and she did succeed in taking her final revenge, but she didn't escape that encounter without more than a few scars; aka her left ankle.

Leaving that bloody scene with half a soul and scars to match, Blacky has developed a deep resentment over 'having friends.' She fears another betrayal and holds herself back from making a connection with anyone. It rises suspicion in some Maximals, this aloofness, but those who know her story understand all to well why she is like this.


WEAPONS/ABILITIES: Her nails are extremely sharp and can cut through almost any metal, being made out of a diamond and titanium mix. Being trained in a form of martial arts that requires knowing where crucial wires and tubes are, she can easily waste a foe a close range if need be by just cutting a couple wires or collapsing crucial tubes with a few quick swipes and stabs. Her tail turns into a sniper rifle whilst in Robot mode, great for picking off foes from far off and can also be changed into two small handguns.

In beast mode, her claws are still sharp, and her teeth also fall along the same lines. Also in both modes, she can blend into the environment as long as she stays still, except for of course when it comes to her worst enemy... Snow. Evil stuff that white fluffy mass is.


WEAKNESSES: Her left ankle is very weak, the back left in her beast form. It can be easily broken or twisted so she favors it. No so much so that just anyone will see, but just enough that the trained eye can tell.

Temperament wise, she is not easily irritated and offended. She also offers up a mask of a completely aloof, but polite personality to bots who don't know her, only dropping it in secrecy. Then, you will see that she has a big open heart.. I mean spark..

RP SAMPLE:
Trained eyes watch the world carefully, but flicker ominously in wait. But wait for what? Sleep of course is what she is waiting for, but cannot have. The job is to watch and wait, then take the shot when it arrives. She had been lying there for three days, on only a few hours of sleep in between long intervals. She blended in perfectly with her environment, and would stay so until she moved again, which hadn't been for hours.

Then, her moment came in the blink of an eye. Her target was walking about, viewing the base with a smile. Carefully, she follows this figure until the transformer paused, speaking to another. Then, she pulled the trigger, and two seconds later, the transformer drops dead.

She hears the cry of anguish and rage behind her as she dashes away from the scene of the crime. If she could smile in her pitch black beast mode, she would at her grand work. There was now one less Predacon to worry with and more money in her pocket, the best of both worlds. Her lean tail curled happily as she leapt over a fallen tree, expressing the emotions lying beneath the surface of her slick pitch black coat.

Blackbolt while the overall frame work is good the details need some work.

First off your stats are over by six points. If you drop a point from everything but strength you'll be good.

Bio
The brother aspect is intriguing, but rather than leaving it as a vague report of events tell us what happened. How did the betrayal effect Blackbolt? Why did his brother do it? Was it something Blackbolt caused (inadvertently/purposefully) or does he not know at all? Why did he avoid his brother rather than attack him in rage? Why did he choose to come on the Zeta mission? Did he grow close to anyone or did his brother's betrayal put a chip on his shoulder?

Also due to the way the game has evolved the flagrant flipping from side to side is a definite no go. In either settlement Blackout wouldn't be trusted, and shunned if not attacked. Pick a side.

Weapons/Abilities
Claws and teeth that can cut through almost any metal? What are they made out of that they can do these things? Who built them to such dangerous specifications? With a firepower of six I would suggest that Blackout have a mid to short range weapon as well as the sniper rifle.

Due to Blackout's coloration I can totally see this character stealthing it in shadows, but being able to blend in anywhere? Black fox in the snow doesn't mesh well.

Weaknesses
Good physical weaknesses, but from temper to bubbliness everyone has faults. What is/are his?

BIO:
Rocky was protoformed on one of the Terran/Autobot commonwealths established in the middle of the 21st century, helping to expand a small settlement on a planet that had just been discovered. In the colony, there was a great deal of stress on individual achievement, being able to survive on your own, and make due with very little, which inspired much of Rocky's fierce individuality and dislike for authority. Rocky was put on the frontiers, pushing the boundaries of the colony outward and dealing with unruly native creatures and sentients. His early days in the colony helped to shape Rocky, who became a free-spirited, well-meaning cowboy, always on the move and always in trouble. When Rocky heard rumblings of a colony expedition to parts unknown sometime after the Great Reformating, Rocky decided to leave after an unfortunate incident with a femme and another mech had driven a wedge between him and most residents of the colony.

In the days following the crash, Rocky proved himself invaluable, using his general knowledge in establishing settlements and surviving with minimum resources to great effect. The raccoon has also proven himself to be competent on the battlefield, though his cowboy attitude usually results in him quarreling with Maximals who don't see the charm in his antics.

WEAPONS/ABILITIES:
Rocky has two pistols meant to resemble six-shooters, loaded with energon slugs that are designed to burrow past the first layer of metal skin and then lodge themselves within important systems before detonating, causing fits and other painful responses in his targets- enough hits can incapacitate or even kill a weaker mech. He is a decent shot, but tends to miss with one or the other when in stressful situations. Rocky is very quick, and finds evading even the biggest mechs incredibly easy. His small size lends to this, and also helps him to conserve energon, a necessary trait for surviving on the frontiers where Rocky grew up.

Note: Rocky's ammunition is stored within his arms; he loads the guns with bullets kept in two gauntlet-like rings around his wrists.

WEAKNESSES:
Rocky is averagely strong, but is smaller than most mechs, who have an easy time pushing him around because of his stature, or lack there-of. Rocky is reckless, and has issues with authority- his frontiersman nature and cowboy attitude don't help integration into the chain of command. Rocky has a short temper, is quick to anger, and tends to hold a grudge, which he can usually only give up on after a good bare-knuckles brawl or a shoot-out.

Along with being incredibly young by Cybertronian standards, and therefore not as experienced or wise as a a majority of his comrades, Rocky is too trusting at points, and tends not to realize the inherent threat present in the Predacons, treating them more like a rival ranch than a political minority, sometimes attempting to fraternize with the chance Predacon- some appreciate his rough and tumble attitude.

RP SAMPLE:
Rocky darted up the tree, glaring down at the pack of pseudo-raptors beneath him. The horse-sized animals stared up at him, yellowish-orange eyes glowing brightly in the fading afternoon sunlight. Rocky hated the things- what was the point of a horse if you couldn't break and ride it? And if it happened to be a hunter who liked the taste of synthetic skin and mech fluid?

"You buzzards better get away! Shoo!" Rocky transformed, grabbed hold of the two pistols strapped to his back, and began firing at the raptors. One squawked and jumped back while another fell down in a fit of spasm. Energon slugs didn't mix well with organics. The others, however, stayed right where they were, staring at Rocky eagerly.

Rocky took the guns and slapped them to the magnetic strip on his back, mumbling some choice swear words. He looked at the horizon- the sun was starting to disappear beneath it. The shadow of the trees and the raptors below him became long and distorted as the sky turned a rich violet. Speaking of the raptors, they weren't going anywhere. Rocky sighed- he'd be in that tree a while.

Blackbolt- All right, I had free moment. I don't think you read our game intro and summary, which you should. If you had, you'd know that colony Zeta is stranded on an alien planet and cut off from the rest of the universe, so there's no way she could exact revenge on her brother from there. The function should designate what she signed up to do in the colony, and colonies generally don't need assassins.

And this isn't s problem, but just a minor curiosity regarding her quote about "making love." Does that mean she has sex in her beast mode? I don't have a problem with that, mind you. Characters can have sexual relationships in the game, just so long as players don't RP the actual deeds on the board.
