Are you Samuel James Witwicky, descendant of Archibald Witwicky? No? Good. He’s an obnoxious little twerp.
Hello and welcome to Cybertron’s Core! We’re a tight-knit little community, but we’re always happy to welcome new friends into our clan. We don’t have a clique, we don’t play politics. If you wanna be popular here, you just need to be a dedicated role-player. Below are a few things you should probably know about this site to get you acclimated better.
HistoryI started this site back in June of 2005, partially because I was sick of dealing with cliques on other sites and partially because I’m a control freak who wanted to see an RPG run the way I wanted to. One other goal was to provide people with unique RPGs, because at the time, G1 games were a dime a dozen. I opened with two games: A Beast Wars season 3-based game which came to be called Feral Escalation (a name I’m still pretty proud of), and an Armada game that kind of fizzled out in a few months. Not enough people were interested in that to support a game.
So I closed the Armada game and tried opening a War Within G1 prequel game, but that never even got off the ground. Thinking I needed something more unique, something so original that it only required passing knowledge of G1 and Beast Wars, I started a game called Legacy, which featured an expedition led by Jetfire and Grimlock to find a lost colony of Transformers on an planet ruled by hostile alien shape-shifters known as the Gor. However, it was a bit too far out there, and the game chugged along at an anemic pace. People started leaving.
All this time, Fierce Fortitude remained in play, but hardly went anywhere. Finally, I couldn’t take it any more. Cybertron’s Core closed down in the spring of 2008. I figured the site had a good run, I made some friends and had some fun.
But certain members refused to allow the site to die. They hung around, keeping in touch through the shoutbox and on AIM. Finally, the idea for Fierce Fortitude hit me, and after careful planning and setup so as to avoid all the mistakes we made with the old games, Cybertron’s Core was revamped, rebooted and reopened in the fall of 2008, with my best friend Shadowcat9279 helping me as co-administrator. Since then, we’ve been running stronger than ever before!
Site RulesIn addition to the game rules, there are a few things we expect of our members out-of-character as well.
-Both Shadowcat and I live in rural areas, so we understand the pain of those on dial-up and monthly bandwidth limits. That is the reason CC lacks so much of the bells and whistles that clutter many other RPGs. We ask our members to contribute to that by limiting the size of their signature images to 300x125 pixels.
-We’re united by our love of alien robots, but I’m sure we all have more in common with each other than that. Feel free to rant and rave to your heart’s content in the General Discussion forums, just respect the fact that people don’t have to agree with you. (Except concerning Pat Lee and Shane McCarthy. You can hate on them all you want to here.)
Getting StartedYou’re reading this – that’s a good start. It shows you’re astute and not just rushing into things, which is how a good role-player conducts him- or herself.
After you’re finished with this Orientation, everything you need to know about the gameplay can be found in the rules forum
Space Station Janus's rules forum. While you’re in the process of creating a character to play, stop by the
introductions forum and start a thread telling us a bit about yourself and get to know the rest of the community. We have some pretty fun people hanging around here and the sooner you make friends, the easier we can start involving you and your characters in the game events. (Again, it’s not a clique thing – it’s just human nature; people work and play better with people they know.)
Once you get your character approved, drop into the Chatterbox forum of the respective game so we can brainstorm plots and ideas. This is also a good place to ask questions about the game mechanics or make suggestions of your own. We love suggestions!
Some Useful Links-We have a Group set up on deviantART to represent our site.
Clickee da linkee.-I also wrote an essay for deviantART to introduce people to play-by-post RPing, which you can find
here.-
Meebo.com is a website that allows you to log into instant messenger accounts like AIM, MSN, Yahoo and others (once you register some for yourself) without downloading anything onto your computer. Seriously, get yourself on AIM. Most members have it and it’s a useful tool for getting your characters involved in game plots.
Be sure you take a look around the rest of the site as well. This is your new home!
