The rapper Proof has been announced dead after he was shot when he was comming out of a nightclub on the 8 mile road, Detroit.

Proof, whose real name was Deshaun Holton was a longtime friend of Eminem and has acted as his best man at Eminem's marriage to Kim mathers in January of this year. Proof was also in the rapgroup D12 and it was his idea in the first place to form D12 with his friends who he met at a hip -hop clothes store in Detroit. The group had a number two hit in the UK with 'purple pills' and 'my band' in 2004. Proof also made an appearance in the film 8 mile and is credited on the award winning sound track.

Police have said that 2 people had been shot in the head, one fatally after an argument had broken out at the CCC nightclub.

D12's publicist has said that arrangements are being made for a memorial service.
