I asked Jumbie to take a look at it. He only found a list and a comment on how Navi Trackers was basically a variation of BS Marvelous (nothing groundbreaking).

ah... aw, well.
Next thing of note; http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi/game/27325/1135242167/ Once again I'm digging deep into a site. Don't know what this says, but it apparently lists the BS Zelda Shrine URL. O: |

Hah, I was just necroing back here a bit and I ran across Kiddo's comment about the "Satellaoff" events, which reminded me that I had intended to make a post about that at the end of last year. From what I've read, it seems to me that the SatellaOFF events were a series of fan-conducted parties where the Satellaview uberfans came together (after all Satellaview broadcasts had come to an end) to play Satellaview-themed games such as Panel de Pon, Dr. Mario, etc. As far as I understand it, these fans couldn't use the Satellaview any more, but they had normal SuFami versions with multiplayer capabilities. Interestingly, the main SatellaOFF participants seem to come up again and again as you look back through the world of Satellaview Archives. These fans owned nearly all of the fan-pages about Satellaview that exist. From the few National Satellaview Event competition results I've run across, it seems that some of these guys were pretty good in the general rankings as well and several of them won prizes from St.GIGA. After the SatellaOFF events, these fans would all go back home and prepare elaborate SatellaOFF reports detailing every part of the event down to the food that was eaten and the seating arrangements. It's silly stuff mainly, and rife with incomprehensible in-jokes, but you can see that these kids (I guess they're adults by now) had a lot of passion for the games and had really enjoyed the inter-connectivity of the Satellaview system before it went offline. It was in reading about the SatellaOFF events that I became so excited about the BS Zelda AST Broadcast Run competition we had back in May 2009. As I mentioned in my post above, I was struck by the historical nature of what we were doing. It's true we didn't all get together in one room and play Panel de Pon, but I think the event was as close to the spirit of the SatellaOFF events as anyone could hope for. I think it was a brilliant move on Con's part, and I hope we can do something like that again in the future at some point. Maybe we could even have (physical) prizes this time... Finally, to make things even more real for anyone who's read down this far, here is as much photographic evidence of the participants of the SatellaOFF events that I could come up with. Some of these photos were taken during the events.: Position: Secretary Name: Shepard's Black Website: BS-X Walking Photo of Shepard's Black Position: Big Brother Name: Yuriru-San Website: Fan's Group Photo of Yuriru-San Position: Abnormal Limb? Name: Panepon Masuta Website: PanePon Masu City Photo of Panepon Masuta. (Also see groupshots below) Position: Only Girl in the Group Name: Mizocchi Website: Kimatta! This seems related. I haven't seen this before and I have done some searching for it so I assume it must have been put up recently. Either that or it's just been hiding from me. Anyway this is a website that discusses in detail Shigeru Izumiya's "King of After School" events called "How To Satellaview." This was apparently a series of quiz shows. Presumably high-scoring participants would have their names recorded in lists or perhaps there were prizes. Anyway many of the questions asked as well as the answers can be found here. Potentially useful for translation purposes if these ROMs can be recovered.

A quiz event with prizes? I wonder if the concept evolved into what "Waiwai de Q" and "Satella-Q" became.

This makes me wonder - what was "Ookami ga Kita" (assuming www.romaji.org got that right) about? I tried looking up the show before, but much like UNDAKE30 and the Sunday Seminar, found no info. This post has been edited by KiddoCabbusses on Oct 1 2010, 06:51 PM |

Big bumpage.
I did a good check on JP sites again, this time filtering so I don't get too much "old" results. here's what I got; http://mikarinbsx.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-4.html interestingly, "Mikarin", the guy who upped the first few BS Zelda videos to Youtube, appears to still post things now and then. http://soundcloud.com/amamiya_ktkr/satellaview An arranged piece of Satellaview music. https://twitter.com/#!/PizzaHatter/stat...860737940996096 Not sure on that one's Twitter, but it came up in a search. |
