So. I'm thinking of getting myself Wii Play, with the second controller included so I can play with friends who don't have a Wii.
Only problem is, I would have liked for my second controller to be different from the first (all the more since they are wireless). Therefore I ask: do you know of any adhesive skins that can be bought and applied to the Wii-mote? ...all the better if Zelda (or anything Nintendo) related [Edit] I would also be interested in "shells" if they exist... something like this little mock up I'm attaching. Well, I tried googling Wii-mote shells and only found functional ones (besides the horrid sword and shield set everybody probably knows about) whereas I was thinking purely of aesthetic purposes when making this topic (I guess stickers are the way to go for that).
Still, here's a few interesting gun alternatives to the Wii-Zapper http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii/wii-gun-with-...grip-255007.php http://videogame.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00461 Which do you think is better? One acts also as a Nunchuck, but that means like the Wii-Zapper you'll have to move both at the same time. The other allows you to attach a nunchuk but... how would you press the A, 1 and 2, + and - buttons then? Oh and a shotgun too http://www.joytech.net/1/products/wii/12/1...arp-Shooter.htm -------------------- |

Google is your friend, Duke.
Give http://www.wiimoteskins.com/online-shop/fu...k_skin_set.html a shot and tell me if that's a decent enough skin to tell your controllers apart! Picture included if you don't want to visit the site... Thanks Tre, I'll be browsing through that site for sure
The Master Sword Wii-mote actually looks kinda crappy (with its small "wings" and black "handle") but I kinda like what they did with the nunchuk. Their NES style Wii-mote turned out a lot better that's for sure -------------------- |

I just recently edited that post... mostly so you wouldn't have to go digging around. Guess this is the "crappy" skin you already knew about.
I guess if you're really wanting a great skin, you could always see about getting some blank cast vinyl and run it through a printer (kind of like how you can make your own bumper stickers with an inkjet printer and the blank sheets of vinyl. (You can get those at office supply stores). Or you could do like the Light Gun (I liked the second one more) and make it out of cast rubber or something. Speaking of "DIY" mods, this one would be reason enough for me to buy a Wii. http://wii.qj.net/Full-console-mod-Wii-Zel...pg/49/aid/86313 Check THAT out!!! Oh... and someone already made a fake Wii-set for laughs... but wouldn't this be awesome if it were real?! Actually no, I meant the sword and shield shells. They are kind of like the mock up you attached only extremely crappy (sword looks more like the wooden sword from LoZ but stubby and shield is brown too laughably small and with a poor drawn lion in "gold" trimming. Here it is: http://videogame.brando.com.hk/prod_detail...020&cat_id=046) As for the mock up you attached, I had seen that before in a magazine and I do like the Hylian shield a whole lot. But for the sword, I like my mock up better. The handle is the really cool part while the blade had better stay virtual lest you poke out someone's eye with it (besides how would you use the pointer for things like boomerang and bow?) That would be awesome to make my own skins... dunno were to get blank vinyl or whether it would pass through my printer though Yeah, the good thing about the second one is that it can be an alternative to the Wii-Zapper (if the game requires no indipendent nunchuk movement you can use the Wii Zapper, otherwise there's this gun) ...and imagine having two of them (for games where a single player can use two Wii-motes as two separate guns). I knew about the special Wii Zelda Mod. Looks pretty good (though having light come from under it kinda screams "pimp!") but I dunno if I'd be willing to sacrifice my limited Master Sword Hylian Shield set (did I mention I could grab a set of those?) for that. Heh... I didn't know that the crappy set you were talking about, is the same one I found and went "This isn't even worth posting!" when I saw it. But what's really funny... is they're trying to sell it for $19US. I wouldn't pay $1US for something that crappy!
And I agree with you that having the blade on the Wiimote would cause you to poke someone's eye out... and likely interfere with playing the game. But I think it could be pretty cool. As for the vinyl paper? Like I said, we sell that stuff at Office Max, and it's nothing more than "Bumper sticker" paper. And it's designed to go through any printer (except laser, they have different paper for that) and print in color or b&w. You could look around to see if you have a local office supply shop and try to find it. The bumper sticker paper would be good, because it's adhesive enough to stick to the Wiimote, but can still come off (though it might leave sticky spots if you don't do it right... so it's not as good as the official skins) if you want it to. If you DON'T have a local office supplies shop, you can always look online for "Bumper sticker paper" (Google is your friend) and find it at a reasonable price and have it delivered to you. You'd have to go for an over-seas vender obviously, but I'm sure they have something in your area. And I would NEVER pimp out my Wii myself... too much chance of wrecking it. Plus the auction on that has it in the THOUSAND dollar range now. Screw that! I won't even pay $300 for a Wii, never mind three times that. Thanks for tips. If I can come up with a better design myself (the one I attached obviously wouldn't fit a sticker, it's supposed to be a full prop) I'll try and see if I can find some vynil.
It's just that my printer isn't exactly good at digesting slightly tickher than normal paper. -------------------- |

Hmmmmm... well if your printer gets up in arms about trying thicker than normal paper (assuming like 20lbs paper is the max it wants to handle...), you COULD resort to making a "foam padding" mock-up of what you had in mind. Or if you have the money and resources, you can use some kind of gel molding to make your own. I dunno.
It seems the best bet really is just the skin method though... -------------------- I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

Making my own props would be so awesome *sigh*
Cost isn't really the issue as much as lack of time and skills. -------------------- |

If I had the skill, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. But I've never really played with foam molding or making gel/latex items... ah well. You can always wait for Nintendo to make a better molding set for the Master Sword and Shield.

Nah... they're too busy making golden stylus pens for the DS. THAT made me laugh!

Wouldn't a Master Sword shaped stylus be a real b*tch to use, though?

Maybe so. But it's not like Phantom Hourglass is going to be a hard game, I can use the handicap.
