On the note of the Wii - There are multiple emulation options for trying the games on a Wii, including the WIi's version of SNES9X as well as a Virtual Console injection. Third Quest's compatibility on there would match that of the emulator version it is based on . the Powerpak, meanwhile, would be stuck with issues involving the game's real-hardware compatibility, which means it probably won't work. |

I'd get rid of the "18:99 = unknown time" stuff and replace the instances where we have written 18:99 with the actual times. In the cases where the Jap FAQ says something different than what we have then we should put the actual time and forget about our incorrect time (when we're the ones that made the mistake) or what the Jap FAQ says (when they're the ones that made the mistake). Then we can erase the "Jap FAQ says" bit. I listed it all out in this thread but in the interest of condensing it into a single post, please focus on the following:
If you'd like I'd be happy to type up my own suggestion for what our list of timed events should look like and attach it as a .doc file.
One last very minor note: While we're on the issue of the "Jap FAQ says" quotes (and this is really just a niggling point but...) the term "Jap" is usually considered something of an epithet (at least in the USA). If we must use this construction and if space is the main issue, then even just adding a period to change it to "Jap." would be a lot better. That way it would look like an abbreviation rather than a slur. |

If the walkthrough is reviewed it might be best if a volunteer helps Duke, it might be kind of boring playing both versions completely just to fix the failures.
A native English speaker might be best for this job. Thanks Kiddo, maybe I'll buy a wii just for the experience playing it with a console on TV And there really are no bugs? -------------------- |

Here's the list of timed events as I think they should appear. Obviously the times should appear in the final version as fancy images as we have in our walkthrough. The document I'm attaching has 2 parts: first a suggestion for a new version; and second a marked-up version showing the changes I made with red-text for deleted portions and green-text for added portions.
I also added a note to the top that I think is important. My first instinct was just to remove all of the "Jap FAQ says" stuff because once we've verified it what's the point of listing wrong information? But then I realized that the main difference between the Japanese FAQ's info and ours concerns the timing of the mole. Since the mole's position is known to be different in different broadcast versions of the game it's quite conceivable that the Japanese FAQ actually lists correct times but for a different broadcast date. Our times match the original broadcast perfectly (as verified by the VHS recordings), but it's certainly worth noting what the Japanese FAQ says about the matter if for no other reason then to alert readers that there was more than one version of the game. Should a newer version be recovered then it very well might match the Jap FAQ. That would be really cool. Attached File ( Number of downloads: 22 )

It might also be worth noting how IIRC The videos show mole locations that are different from the ones in the ROM code.

Hmm... That was quick. I already see an error in the document I made...
I said that the times we had were accurate for the first broadcast version of the game (March-April 1997) because I assumed that the version of the game we had was from the first broadcast for some reason. From the timer, though, it's obvious that this is just plain wrong. The first broadcast's timer would have read "19:06-19:56." I know our version of the game isn't from the second broadcast either (June 1997) because of the mole's position as seen on the VHS recording. So does anybody know if the headers for our version of the game are from the third (November-December 1998) or fourth (May 1999) broadcast? Heck, for all I know it may be from yet another broadcast. Anyway does anyone know what the header date is for the original AST dumps we have? |

Uh oh... it's the first of october and Zelda Legends is down (said not to be found at all by the browser).
Won't it be that Khuffie wrote the right day but the wrong month in his letter..? ![]() Hold it... Legends Alliance is down too. That was not part of the plan, as far as I know. Maybe it's just technical difficulties. This post has been edited by Duke Serkol on Oct 1 2010, 03:47 PM -------------------- |

So it was technical difficulties. How coincidental that they occurred the first of the month.

Well with a bit of help from Kiddo I've been searching through the headers for AST and it seems like the date is missing from all of the original ROMs. So I think that the best guess that could be made is that the version we have comes form the most recent broadcast (i.e. May 1999).
So based on this suggestion I came up with this table that I think is kind of interesting. To provide some context for the table: Facts The first broadcast (March-April 1997) would have times in the 19:00s because this is the time when the game was first broadcast. The VHS taped version is definitely from June 1997 as the date appears in weeks 1-3 of the VHS tapes. The version we have is different from the VHS taped version so it clearly represents a different broadcast. Assumptions I am assuming that the VHS tape's week 4 is also from June 1997. I am assuming that our version is the most recent broadcast (May 1999) just based on the increasing likelihood of over-writing by the memory pack owner as the age of the broadcast increases. I am assuming that the Japanese FAQ is actually accurate and thus represents another broadcast (the only known broadcast left is November-December 1998) In the table I marked some times with a "-" symbol to indicate that the mole's appearance is "on or before" that time. These are all related to the VHS recordings which for 3 weeks don't show the exact minute that the mole appears. Finally, just in passing, a interesting bug can be seen in the VHS video of Week 4 at 18:31 - A bomb blows open a wall but it still appears solid. I'm thinking that these trivial details could be helpful in identifying which broadcast we have if another dump ever surfaces and the header is date-less like seemingly the ones we have downloadable as original ROMs in the download section. |

Just saw the front page, good news! Saw the comment about being able to host the broadcast videos too, that's pretty cool!
Do you think we'll be able to store everything though? When you combine everything, there's quite a few of this guy: ![]() Gigabyte, of course! (I miss ReBoot.) -------------------- |

funnily enough, I just recently heard that Shout! Factory's planning to release the complete TV Series on DVD. You might be interested in picking that up. *Reminisces about the days when a SINGLE Gigabyte was huge* Anyway, here's hoping the ZeldaInformer move goes smoothly. |

I heard that they're making a movie out of ReBoot slated for release this year.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1121962/ What a great show. I remember being convinced back in the day that the zeros (the fat bytes) were inspired by spheros from the LBA series. And I cannot give those games high enough praise. Frederick Raynal is a genius. |
