Forum Rules Board Guidelines

1 - We ask that you do not insult, ridicule or threaten other posters, old or new that they may be. Also, please, do not spam :)

2 - We ask that whenever you wish to write about later parts of a game, you apply the spoiler tags to said text. Especially if it is something about the game's story, bosses, puzzles or items.
In the help forums however, it is not required to use spoiler tags for anything except the game's story. Failure to do so may result in warning, suspension or banning; depending on the number of times this happened, the severity of the violation (such as describing the game's ending) and possible maliciousness of the violator.
Alternatively, you may create a topic with the words *spoilers for "game(s) name"* in its title. That will exempt everybody from using spoiler tags in that thread for spoilers about said game. However know that said thread may not be modded, unless specifically requested for a violation of these rules.

3 - Due to the high level and frequency of malicious spam bots posting in the forum, registration is required to post replies in any of our forums.

So I went and did some more work on my own patch to try to make the saving feature much more stable and useful. It seems to be working well.

/URL posted not longer valid/

Saving occurs automatically on death or Triforce pickup. While playing L+R+Start+Select will automatically reduce your health to critical for easy dieing and saving. All items and current week are saved. More details in the readme file.

Testing results would be appreciated.

LOLZ. I must say at this point your so called Real Hardware patch is so advanced that it really has nothing to do with just editing enough to get the real SNES hardware to boot it anymore. It's just become yet another one of the countless patches that's available for the game.

This sounds great smile.gif
However I need to know some things; firstly I can't download the patch due to megauploads limitations, could you use another server to upload files (or maybe when the patch is small you can just attach it to your post). I think the IP of the university server I use is for many people the same, so I always get restriction using megaupload

(2) - Is it an update of the current rh version, so that when I post it on the page, I can use the normal dump of bszelda, patch it with this patch (and translation) to have the new version?

(3) - can you transcribe the code to map2, too? I remember that I once included an end screen, is it still available?

@VG555 - dunno if you are really in the position to judge other peoples work without having developed even one patch. And even if you would have done so, you are welcome to appreciate other peoples' effort. Thanks.

Edit:
I just received a mail reporting your post from another user:

This user reported your post to me is actually right, you violated the board guidelines. We do not allow that you humiliate other people's work, which everybody else find really precious. So I give you a first warning, 2 more warnings and Tre will happily ban your IP sleep.gif

Agreed.

Keep your LOLZ to yourself VG555.

As for the real topic... great news!
Who was it again that had the tools to test real hardware? MoP MH and... someone else?
Anyway, hope they get to test this soon smile.gif

Not me. I think MoP and Kiddo have RH-testing capabilities. Not sure who else does...

Thanks a lot! Your work is much appreciated. I'll test it and report any bugs. I think Kiddo should be able to test this on his copier since it'll fit on one floppy (formatted correctly). If not he's posted he is getting a flash cart also.

Con, I am not entirely sure if the changes I made were to a ROM with your changes in place. However I don't believe I changed anything that would effect the changes you made so it should be compatible. Later today I'll see about applying the new changes to the current ROM on the website.

I can't transcribe it to map 2, that was something you did and are welcome to see about doing with this one.

I emailed you the file if your email is still the same address.

------------------------------------

V555, learn some social skills. You have serious problems. You're right that MY PATCH, does what I WANT. Not what YOU want or approve of as I could care less about you. Incase you didn't know the goal behind my patch, it is to PROVIDE A FULLY PLAYABLE BS ZELDA PATCH WITH ALL NECESSARY FIXES TO COMPLETE THE GAME WHILE RETAINING FULL COMPATIBILITY WITH ACTUAL SNES HARDWARE. Due to demand and the potential length of the game I added the ability to save your progress to continue the game later. The BS-Zelda "Lite" name was the original development name prior to the introduction of the Front End with the Title Screen and Story and now game saving and loading.

To make it very clear, I don't care what you want in a BS-Zelda patch. If you don't like my patch, don't use it. But I know you do. You already admitted to trying to copy, steal, study my work. The least you could do is be civil about it and not a jerk.

I shortly tested the rom you mailed me. The ending is not part of it. When I made a patch out of the rom and applied it over your (old) rh rom on the page , the game breaks when leaving the cave after Ganon. With the old version on the page you get an ending as displayed below.

There are now 2 possibilities:
- I could look which of your new code lets the game break at the end or
- you include the ending within your v2 version

Either way, once this is done, it should be peanuts to make the patch map 2 compatible.smile.gif

Try this, I emailed it to you too. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VYY0OXJL

I did the patch on my old files. These didn't include your additions. I went and then added my new patch to your current version with the ending.

Also a moderator can update the link in my first post or remove it. It is no longer valid.

This is working excellent smile.gif I post your patch for headered roms in case there are some rh playtesters which have problems with megaupload as well.

As soon it is playtested, I will adjust map2.

One small glitch I ran into is when you do L+R+START+SELECT, the hearts in the HUD don't actually go down to one. The game recognizes you only have one heart and beeps, but doesn't go to the correct level until you are hit.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I thought I'd post the glitch along with a question I have. I downloaded the second ROM you posted and deleted the old save and started a new game. I don't need to patch it with the included patch, correct?

May I suggest using a different command to force critical health? L+R+Start+Select is usually reserved for soft-resets in SNES games.

Easiest suggestion would be to have it be specifically on the player 2 controller.

One more or less small thing necessary to provide original gameplay might be to add both mascotts playable if this is not too difficult to implement if you do further improvements on your code smile.gif
