First let me explain what I've tried so far.
Ok so my first step is to take the unpatched rom for week one and apply the "base" IPS patch that should clear out most bugs and make it playable. Problem is how do I play it on my emu? I'm using BSNES. So I realize it's a BS X game and load it with the "load special cartridge" Satelaview option. Now I'm in the BSX Bios and I go to the place where I can select a game, great! Now I should be able to play it, but sadly it doesn't appear in the menu. So now I use the same technique I used on BS-Zelda, I use a hex editor, find the BS header and go to the the byte that controls number of plays before its unplayable. As expected it's set to be never playable, so I change the byte to make it always playable. I now go back to BSNES load special cartridge etc. Now I get back to select a game menu, and it NOW DOES APPEAR here. I start it just like I did for BS-Zelda, and it loads but instead of going to the title screen for the game, it gives me THIS ERROR! Please help me. ![]() |

I can't help you with emulator issues really, but I can tell you what the error message says in English:
Hope that helps a little. This post has been edited by MadHatter on Jan 10 2011, 02:19 AM |

Maybe the header was corrupt to start with? And newer emus with accuracy catch that but the base patch in question was designed with an older emu in mind that took more shortcuts for speed (and lack of accuracy) so the game patch wasn't properly made, and will simply not work on newer emus with increased accuracy and will actually properly handle the error to the point of crashing if a real SNES would have crashed? Or does the Link to the past version called Stone Tablets actually depend on the presense of the BS Zelda being in memory too? |

I'm wondering if my problem is an indicator of the fact that the rom wasn't dumpped properly in the first place. If it was, then we also shouldn't need a "base patch" to enable further patches, or "true hardware" patch to get it to work on real SFC hardware.

I can't help with rh issues either.
d4s created a rh fix, which is part of the upgrade patch. Maybe you can try by downloading the upgrade patch zip file. Inside you find a rh_fix.zip that may solve your problem. -------------------- |

But it adds TONS of unwanted stuff like ALttP music when this game NEVER had that music but rather it's OWN music, Gender select screen when that was NEVER in the original game, ST GIGA opening screen when in real life that should ONLY be in the satelite transmission NOT the actual game, etc, etc, etc. I just wanna get the game working in BSNES when booting to BSX BIOS and loading from the BSX game select menu. |

The one who can read clearly has advantages in life
In other words: Please read my last post again (this time CAREFULLY) and follow the instructions, then you won't have music and other stuff in your rom of desire. -------------------- |

I can play it on its own as a standalone rom just fine it's just that I can't get it to boot when loading from the BSX game start menu. And I don't care about the unplaying part of music (I just let it be silent). The base patch (which I am using) unlocks the music that was built into the rom but never officially used just like in the original BS Zelda game (though only in the overworld). Aparently there was no indoor music in the rom. Indoor music is used in a patch I'm NOT using because it simply reuses the relgular ALttP music (which was NEVER meant to be used in this game). |

I was actually talking about trying out d4s patch, attached below, which you can find in the upgrade patch zip file.
I do not understand the music part you're talking about. No music at all was used in the game, also not in the overworld. The patch that unlocks overworld music is the same that enables indoor music, just another value is loaded into ram Attached File ( Number of downloads: 10 )
