ok not pushin anything here so dont read this wrong
bs zelda ancient stone tablets may be 1 of the best zelda games out there, however its very unfinished, ive been looking into rom patching, im new to it but liek most thigns comp wise i can pick it all up pretty fast, we need 2 get a dev team going to start putting all 4 roms into 1, i think. we need to trial all known bugs to make this rom as perfect as it can be because its really a piece of history, its great, but with further fixxes to ancient stone tablets it would be better if you are for the bs zelda ast dev team just say so and well get it organized, thanks to all who have gotten us this far, great work and hope 2 hear back from you |

I really don't understand why so many people make that a priority; not when the game was made to be in four parts and, by switching srm files, we can carry our progress from week to week. There are much more important things to deal with. Like finding a way to stream CD quality audio files into the game, or making an introduction sequence for it. But don't get me wrong, I appreciate the enthusiasm -------------------- |

what if i created some remakes of the original music that sounds almost the same, has a high bitrate, but is slightly different? would you consider putting that audio in?

You mean using spc sound? I don't think that's possible, and I myself wouldn't know how to do that either... but if you think it can be done, I won't be the one to stop you

I personally would like to see AST working on Zsnes as a priority. But that's just my dream. I don't expect it to happen any time soon.

That's part of the problem: we don't know. I think wav would be the most versatile, but that's just a guess.
Of course if you did do them in spc format (but as I said, I don't think that's really possible since that would deny the whole point of a high quality remix) that should make insertion easier. -------------------- |

That's right, Nintendo developed AST starting from ALttP. In early weeks, it is even possible to use cheat codes to leave the area you are supposed to be in and get in places that are exactly as they were in ALttP.
This is why it was possible to get some music to play even though it's not supposed to, because Nintendo just disabled the existing music so the BS-X could download and play high quality tracks, they did not actually delete it. Con has suggested we try to restore all of the music from ALttP. That would not make the game closer to the way it was when downloaded from the BS-X, but it may be a simpler solution. The ideal, would have to get patches for both, so people can freely choose whether they want ALttP music that fits their location or high quality music regardless of location as it was meant to be. -------------------- |

hmmmm, as crazy as this may seem, would it be easier to create a new bs zelda rom from scratch so it could have stuff added as needed and put rite in as necessary?
also if you wanted me to start making some high quality sounds, just send me what you alredy have zipped so i can get an ear for it, i think you alredy have my email but ya if you dont thats cool too This post has been edited by Blind031 on Oct 18 2007, 10:40 AM |

I seriously have no idea what you're on about.
The game is unfinished for a reason, nobody knows HOW to finish it. Nobody here has even PLAYED it. If we don't know HOW to finish it, we can't get organised or even attempt to do anything about it. The game did came with 4 roms, if you want to make it into one rom that's so not like "restoring the rom to what it's suppose to be". BS Zelda is an official nintendo game, not some random hack which we're like "oh lets put it into 4 roms", not to mention the limit of the snes on the rom sizes if you want all the 4 roms together. /rant sorry just had to do that. -------------------- |

While I can understand your enthusiasm, the problem with that is, we don't really have the "key" to the ignition, as you put it. The rom is what it is. We don't have any real clue as to what was really in it, short of what we have seen in cam recordings from players who downloaded the game (From St. Giga, NOT the roms we host), and dvd rips from the Zelda disc thing (Which I have yet to see) that I heard about. The rooms in AST/InS were completely redesigned using what was supposed to be in the rooms, and done as best as possible... the sound is all we can do.
Spc files won't work correctly for this project, and insertion of Mp3 or even .Oog files will balloon the roms (even as SEPERATE weeks, as they are) to the point it wouldn't be playable... and would take a cable/adsl connection and thirty minutes to get it all. We're more about restoring the roms to their original shape and glory. AST is as good as we can get it until we know more about it, and it's hard to get intel on a BS anything game. So enthusiasm is appreciated, but coming in all arms waving going "Why haven't you guys done _____?! I will help!!!" kind of irritates the hell out of those of us who have dedicated a huge chunk of our lives to getting the roms where they are. -------------------- I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.

The soundtrack CD "Zelda Sound & Drama" is made available on our site, in AST's file page.
Excuse me but... what? Did you not read my previous posts on the subject? SPC music already is buried somewhere in the game, and streaming high quality audio in it is certainly possible as someone did this before with two other console games (Breath of Fire 2 and Sonic 2). And if people can't download music from the site because it takes too long, that's not my problem
Except we know the game used music from ALttP and the Sound & Drama CD, and we know it was time related and not location related. So all we have to guess is what music was used at what time (which I could try to), no need for further information (although it certainly would be welcome) Honestly guys, if Blind031 wants to try his luck at working on the game, why should we shoot him down? Much more productive would be to give him all the details we've got (which is what I have done, btw) This post has been edited by Duke Serkol on Oct 18 2007, 01:44 PM -------------------- |

I must have missed your prior posts on the SPC music... I wasn't aware it was buried deep in the recesses of the rom. Not that it will do any good, if we can't find it. And while you could stream high quality audio into the game, it would inflate it to unreasonable sizes. *Shrugs* But that's my thoughts on it.
And if you want to try your hand at getting the timing for the tracks on the ALttP S&D CD for AST, and stuff, that'd be just fine by me. I'm not going to stop you, I just think it's going to be like a mission impossible task. And I didn't intend to be shooting Blind down, I'm just saying that it's a little frustrating when all manner of important work gets put into a game, and someone comes along later and goes "Why doesn't this have ____ yet?" or something similar. Don't worry, I don't intend to lynch him or anything. -------------------- I'm officially retired from beta testing, and resign my duties to those who have the time to do it.
