Title: Hirohito
Description: A villian, or an innocent?
Tuf Pic - November 10, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
I was just wondering what you guys thought of the emperor's involvment in WW11? I personally think His Majesty was not into what the IJA and IJN were doing, namely because: he :disapprove: ed of the alliance with Hitler, he put down a militarist coup in his earlier career, and the militarists probably INDOCTRINATED the people into this whole "the Emperor wants this" dogma, because they were so much closer to the people than the Emperor was! I think it was pretty clear that Hirohito MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT WANT THIS!!!! Plus, it was noted, but never quite proven, that the insignia of the red sun with shining red rays jutting outwards was the same used by the ancient queen Hitoke to worship the god of evil, Amatsu Mikaboshi! How does this help prove the Emperor's innocence, you ask? Simple: Hirohito was raised to believe he was the descendant of the sun goddess Amateresu Omikami, and whether or not that is true, she is a complete polar opposite to the Mikaboshi, therefore I suggest that Hirohito was also an enemy of evil, possibly just because of his upbringing! He must have had some reason for going along with the militarists plans, do'nt you agree? He could have gotten himself killed! And before you go all out on me by saying "but then he would'nt be a god, now would he", my answer would be "yes, he most certainly could have been", due to a certain Japanese myth: There was a food goddess, called Uke Mochi, and either Susawano or Tsukiyomi Otoko killed her! I myself prefer the Susawano version, but that is beside the point! In short not only do I think the Emperor was mostly uninvolved, I think he was practically a saint! I was also greatly annoyed that they forced him to renounce his divinity, because that seems to be a GROSS VIOLATION OF OUR OWN constitution, and Japan ended up gaining a constitution similar to ours, so it makes NO SENSE!!!! And besides, there was a better way of doing it: namely, force the Emperor to renounce his right for everyone to worship him, without renouncing his divinity! And besides, the Christians have comitted far more war crimes then any civilizations/religions individually, INCLUDING the Japanese, so why should'nt they be rebuked?!?! And just in case you were wondering why I did'nt do this in the Legends Alliance forums: I ca'nt seem to get in there anymore, and they would probably shoot me down, just like the last time I tried bringing this subjest up!

Dear me, U'm still at number two, I've got a lot of catch up to do.

^Seconded. I must have slept through the last nine world wars. Unless you're talking about the video game series of the same name, with no direct influence on the previous titles and sequels.
And I think this is a good example of a thread that needs to be closed before it's spammed, flammed, trolled, and the original poster laughed out of the forums by the majority of members.
Duke Serkol - November 11, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
Tuf asked me explicitly through PM if he could make this thread. Since he's speaking in the defense of an individual's historical memory, I saw no reason to stop him.
...besides I have a feeling there won't be many replies. Unless we want to carry on the jokes about WW11.
Tre - November 11, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
Oh alright. Then I'll just continue going "What happened to parts 3 through 10?!" and turn the other way. :D

Am I too late? :P
In all seriousness, this is actually an interesting topic that Tuf Pic has raised... it would require a bit more looking into before I could give an informed and on-subject response though.
Tuf Pic - November 17, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
Remember the militarist coup d'e tat that was before WW2, I mentioned earlier? Well, I recently unearthed more evidence that casts another shadow of doubt upon the "the Emperor WANTED WAR" theory, and it is this: that if he had resisted, then there would be another militarist uprising, which this time would be SUCCESFUL, AND MOREOVER, WOULD MAKE AN EVEN BROADER WAR!!!!... That would be even worse!!!! There was more good to the emperor than bad, more right than wrong! He even interrupted a meeting, reciting a poem by his grandfather, the emperor Meiji, who wrote it under similar circumstances, which advocated PEACE!!!! Now does that sound like a bad guy to you?
<_< EDIT: The "dry" emoticon was to express to you all that that question was rhetorical! DOUBLE EDIT: I forgot to mention a story I heard on a recorded version of Benjamin Hoff's "The Tao of Pooh" that was about His Majesty, or as they say in Japan "Kinjo Heika" litterally: "His Current Majesty", [then, not now], was on his way to a meeting with his attendants, and when they arrived, no-one was there! The Emperor turned to his attendants, and said something like this: "I would like to have more meetings like this!" Now, given that war involves a LOT of meetings and chaos, I would deduce that His Majesty was NOT a war-like guy, unless that was meant as a joke, or possibly both! I tend to think both, though!
Tuf Pic - December 30, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
Pardon the double post guys, but I wanted to give you a new site that might help me make my point clearer: I was searching the web, and I came across
this thread! Also the Japanese Constitution prior WW2 was written by the people who
SURROUNDED the Emperor, and
NOT by the Emperor himself! The Shogunate may have been abolished, but this did not end military control of the government! I remember finding out that the Emperor could not make desicions: his cabinet did that! Although the Emperor did sometimes
INFLUENCE the desicions, he could'nt always do that on every matter! In other words, the Emperor was only supreme leader in theory, but in practice, it was a whole other story!

I doubt you'll get either much debate or much agreement in this thread otherwise, but I'll just throw my two cents in -
I thought it was relatively -common- that in the 20th century, "true" monarchs didn't exist, and were merely both symbolic of the nation and scapegoats for the nation's problems?
I would never blame a monarch for -anything- that happened that century, as it was usually way more complex than that.

Thanks for agreeing! ;) I also forgot to mention something that I am frankly annoyed with Macarthur (trying) to do: Check out this Wikipedia entry
here! The Emperor was supposed to "renounce" his divinity, right? Well, here is some evidence to refute that! I for one am outraged that Macarthur would make such an attempt, because it 1) CLEARLY violates our OWN constitution, besides the fact that the Japanese ended up gaining a similar constitution, 2) there was a better way of doing it: to force the Emperor to renounce his privelege for everybody to bow down to him, but not renouncing, (or altering) his divinity! Third, there was a
LOT MORE COLLECTIVE GUILT ON THE ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS, MAINLY CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM, than there was on the Japanese, so why should they not get a similar rebuking!
Hirohito was himself outraged at the idea that the Emperor could'nt be divine or semi-divine! And plus, it was noted by critics of the popular western view, that Hirohito asked for, and recieved permission to pray to an ancestor, and then prayed to the sun goddess herself, thus re-affirming the traditional line of descent!
Please pardon another double post, but I just wanted to show you where I got all of this information: the part about the god of evil came from
here and the part about Hirohito's life came from
here! You have the other urls, so I wo'nt bother with those! :D
Tuf Pic - October 12, 2010 06:02 PM (GMT)
Another URL which will clear up any misconceptions about the Mikado's descent from Amaterasu Omikami...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/sh...emperor_1.shtmlThe only error I've spotted in this article is this passage:
| QUOTE (Above Article) |
| Until the Meiji restoration the Emperor had little power, and was a largely unknown and ceremonial figure. Japan was actually run by feudal noblemen, and the Emperor lived in seclusion, and sometimes in actual imprisonment. |
The Meiji "Restoration" did not give power back to the Sovereign, at least, not a great deal of it, instead, gave most of it to his ADVISERS, who acted in his name..

Oh, I realize this has been dead for a while, but since grave-digging is NOT AGAINST THE RULES, I figured I'd try... :D B)
Since Saturn is into history, maybe (s)he'll respond when-&-if (s)he sees this thread...
Untill then, I'll try not to be a bother!! ;)
@Saturn: I'm not sure whether you are a female or a male...
If you don't mind, could you tell me?!

There's grave digging and then there's excavating a horse's corpse and beating it in the hope it'll start running again.

See? This is exactly the kind of attitude that gets us all (and Tre especially) pissed at you.
You're not only ignoring forum etiquette. You are doing so deliberately and even get cocky when this is pointed out to you.
This kind of behaviour won't be tollerated indefinitely. One of these days we'll decide we've had enough. I'd suggest stopping it right now.

To be perfectly honest with you, not all of it is deliberate, & the only reason I got cocky in that last post, is because I was sort ol at a loss for words, & my tounge was too quick for my mind at that moment... -_- >_<

Serkol is quite right. I've been trying to be nice, by not policing you (so I don't come off as bullying you exclusively), but at this point I've given you more than enough rope to hang yourself from the Empire State Building, and startle people on the first floor with your dangling corpse. Mind your manners in this forum, and use common sense. If you can't do that much, I'll happily push the "Suspend" button to get my point across.

@Con: I'm sorry I irritated you with my multi-posting/grave-digging...
Know that was NOT my intention...
My intention was so that Saturn, who seems to share my interest in History would notice this thread, & to see if any of the other new members would join in...
@Serkol:

While this would be competely correct if no new members had come into the fold, I believe Saturn, who, as I've already stated, apparently shows interest in History, joined long after I posted this thread, & since this thread had since been buried in the proverbial closet, I figured I'd bump it up, so that she/he, &/or other new members could find ths thread easily, & then could join in if they so chose...

Next time don't bump threads by double/triple posting in them. Just PM your friend. If they have something worthwile to contribute to the thread, we won't mind them gravedigging it up. If they don't, you won't have wasted our time by bumping a dead thread.

As the administrators of this forum, it is our job to know who is posting what, where, and when. We police these forums quite closely, at least I do. Any "New Posts" that show up, get my personal attention at least once a night. So saying: "You were more than welcome to ignore this thread" is a slap in the face. If I just "ignored" threads, we'd be seeing pornographic and spam posts all over the place again.
Plus, last I checked, this was Conn and Serkol's forum... who are YOU to tell us what we can "ignore from now on"? Keep that attitude of yours in check bub.
