Title: FMA!!
Description: Poll about Fullmetal Alchemist...

Tuf Pic - April 12, 2011 12:00 AM (GMT)
Does anyone here, besides me & Terra Bradford/Tre like

FMA?!

If so, what version do you prefer?!

So far, I like Brotherhood the most, so I'll go with that...

Terra Branford - April 12, 2011 08:23 AM (GMT)
Having watched all of FMA (original), Brotherhood, Conqueror of Shamballa, and read the Manga... yeah, I'd say that I enjoy the Brotherhood adaptation the most.

However... it's important to note that without having seen the original adaptation, alongside Brotherhood, it feels like something is missing. And while Brotherhood sticks quite close to the manga, it doesn't stick 100% to it.

Glad to hear we agree on which is best!! ;)

Although I SLIGHTLY prefer the original anime's music...

Not by much though...

EDIT: Also, I find it slightly annoying that there is only 1 female villian in the manga & Brotherhood, & WAY TOO MANY MALE 1's...

& the 1 female villian dies rather early... :stalfos:

I read that there's a new movie coming out: Can't wait to see it...

Terra Branford - April 13, 2011 05:38 AM (GMT)
Well... yeah... Brotherhood only having Lust as the female villian was kind of a shame... but that was how it was in the manga. So, I don't see why they'd have changed it.

I, too, am looking forward to "The Sacred Star of Milos", and will be buying it when it comes to DVD... just as I did every other FMA movie and anime release. I've seen it all.

MadHatter - April 13, 2011 01:00 PM (GMT)
I've been meaning to start this series, but there's something about a 100+ episode show that gives me pause. I have so many things in storage to watch that it'll be a while before I actually start FMA. Am I right in thinking that the show is finished at last or is there talk of yet another anime? I can't handle it if I'm watching an ongoing show which I can't watch at my own pace. Too annoying...

Glad to hear we feel the same way about that, & who knows who they'll have as a villian in the 2nd movie...

Hope it isn't another male villian, as both the manga & Brotherhood had far too many of those... -_-

Maybe they'll have more than 1 villian...

The new anime has already started!!

& it just so happens to be based off of the original manga...

Terra Branford - April 16, 2011 10:25 AM (GMT)
To answer your question, MadHatter, Fullmetal Alchemist (first version) was fifty-one episodes, and a movie to "finish it". FMA: Brotherhood, is a sixty-four episode series, with a future movie (that doesn't really have to be watched, since the series CONCLUDES with episode sixty-four). So while you can watch all of the first, and second FMAs... you could just watch Brotherhood, and enjoy it as it is.

Tuf Pic - July 23, 2012 09:22 PM (GMT)
I have now seen the 2nd movie on DVD!! B)

& it looks like the Brotherhood OVA's MIGHT feature at least 1 MORE FEMALE VILLIAN!! :D

... wow you really are a necromancer.

Duke Serkol - July 23, 2012 11:29 PM (GMT)
He's done much worse than this in the past, believe me.

Terra Branford - July 24, 2012 01:28 AM (GMT)
Given that "Sacred Star of Milos" only recently came out onto US/UK DVD, it's not a horrible Necrobump, for the sake of bumping.

I've yet to see SSoM, despite buying it on DVD (I got the 2-Disc set, with Extras)... and I still need to watch the four known OVAs... but I've been too busy to watch anime.

1) Thanks for that!! ;)

...&...

2) Hope you get the time to watch more anime, A.S.A.P.

Not a problem. And, eventually, I'll be watching it. I hope it's more of a "stand alone" movie, than CoS was... I do NOT have the time to watch sixty+ episodes of Brotherhood, just to tie-in to a two hour movie.

As for more time for anime... the only one I've been watching is "Deadman Wonderland". It comes on [Adult Swim]'s Toonami block, Saturday at 12:30am Eastern. I have a feeling you'd love it.

Though... you might want to wait until it loops back around to episode one... since it's almost finished (it's only twelve issues, and its up to episode nine right now, with episode ten coming on the 28th).

I have a DVR now, so I've been watching Adult Swim on that device, but I only have a limited amount of time to watch it, & I haven't gotten around to wactching Deadman Wonderland, although I've taped a bunch of those episodes, & it looks interesting!! :)

It might be a while, before I watch it... mostly, because all of my free time goes towards playing Minecraft on the Xbox 360, and I've not been in the biggest "Let's watch Anime!" mood these days. Deadman Wonderland managed to get my interest, but that's because it's hard not to notice it... given the first episode, and all (I almost did major spoilers there... so... yeah, that's why what I just said made no sense to anyone but me).

I'd ~highly~ suggest you watch it from the start... if you skip episodes, it won't make a lick of sense.

Can you let me know when it cycles back to the very first episode?! It woulf be much appreciated!! ;)

Only one MASSIVE flaw with that plan... Unless the Toonami schedule is wrong (and sometimes it is), instead of jumping back to episode one of Deadman Wonderland, for "Death Row Inmate" on 18th August, like it normally would... they're jumping into episode one of "Samurai 7"... which doesn't even remotely sound interesting to me.

So... looks like you'll not get to see it in English. However... you could always look for it on Youtube... since the official Funimation channel has all twelve episodes, in Japanese (with English subtitles). Though... the problem there, is that dark scenes are so dark, you can't actually SEE what's going on... which really sucks... since there are some insane moments (including the reveal of who a certain somebody is) that are lost to the viewer, if you can't SEE it.

*Shrug* Though, like I said... Toonami's schedule has been wrong before... check [Adult Swim] at 12:30AM EDT on 18th August, and see if it's there... if you see the opening credits for "Samurai 7" instead, then you know what's going on.

Can I look for it on an anime-streaming website?!

Would that work?!

Keep such links in PMs.

I don't have any such links, Tuff. So... I guess you'll have to take the legitimate route of watching it on YouTube, or not at all?

Don't worry, I don't even have links for anime... or I wouldn't be watching it on Toonami, or on YouTube.

Tuf Pic - August 8, 2012 09:30 PM (GMT)
@Terra Bradford: I can look it up on the anime-streaming website that I wach FMA on, so that hopefully won't be a problem... ;) B)

@Serkol: will do!!

Just don't go posting the links to that rubbish here. We do NOT steal anime, and other television shows (or movies), on this site. Thank you very much.
