Title: Favorite BS Zelda Memory
2awesome4apossum - February 14, 2011 05:14 AM (GMT)
I think I've been around the BS Zelda community for six years now! So I went ahead and played through Map 2, remembering the time before we had map 2 thinking, "I bet it would be cool if the dungeons spelled NINTENDO this time around" (speaking of which, the fangame I was making back in 2005 was planning to do just that -- imagine my giddy, school-girl joy when I found out Nintendo had made a professional version of this).
After watching the end credits, I realized just what a monumental task getting to this point was. Not only that, but there's a lot more work done behind the scenes, listed in the
Hall-O Fame. I'm really appreciative of everything that everyone has done.
I'm sure everyone will recall my constant harassment of Duke Serkol and Con for things to be done in patches, always making topics like
this. But I'd have to say my happiest BS Zelda memory was when
Con asked for my help after I'd already solicited my take on the differences between the end of map 1/2. I ended up just giving a list of differences and stuff to do, and apart from finding a bug here and there, I really didn't contribute anything in technical terms, but I had good intentions (I swear, I really was *trying* to be helpful).
Either that or one of my flame wars with Duke. ;) Actually I REALLY loved it when these invision forums opened up. I was obnoxious, but Duke, Garrett, coinilius, and the rest of you (as you became active) were really nice about it all, and I had fun.
What's your favorite BS Zelda memory?
Terra Branford - February 14, 2011 08:58 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... favorite memory? Probably when I first started working on creating the Pro Action Replay codes for the first map. I remember spending a couple of hours hunting down the individual effects, and then a few hours trying to refine it all. It wasn't the "greatest contribution" I've made, but it was the most fun for me.

Oh that's an easy one: completing the reconstruction of AST's indoors.
...both times.
And Possum, I do vividly remember your outbursts of outrage and dismay when we first moved from EZBoards to here ;)
We've all had a great time, haven't we :)
(except Con, who's been stuck in code-hell for the last few years)

Personally, it was PLAYING them.

Favorite memory... Not a specific memory, but, probably just seeing how far we've come.
coinilius - February 14, 2011 11:26 PM (GMT)
Yeah, nothing specific for me either, although this message board and fan community has always held a special place in my heart - there's been a lot of great discussions here, some incredible progress on the BS Zelda's and just a lot of general good times B)

@Duke -- I've always hated change. Remember my outbursts about the DS and Revolution (and Twilight Princess)? So full of angst ...
Duke Serkol - February 15, 2011 03:19 AM (GMT)
Which is funny because Twilight Princess is so close to being OoT someone might mistake it for a remake ;)

I've only played up to the first dungeon. I hated the Wii controls so much I had to stop there. But "OOT" remake definitely wasn't my take on it.
Weirdly enough, I LOVED LOVED LOVED Link's Crossbow Training. I mean, the Platinum Medals were too easy to get (300,000 points would have made it more of a challenge), but it's addicts me time and again.

Maybe you should have tried the Gamecube version?

That's what everyone tells me, it just costs money. ;) I probably would like that version a lot better.

My favorite BS Zelda memory?!
Probably just finding out about them as I've really only been able to download them 1 time, & then came the time when my old computer hardrive DIED!! :stalfos:
Duke Serkol - February 16, 2011 01:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you hold the questionable achievent of being the only regular poster here that never played the games
coinilius - February 16, 2011 01:09 AM (GMT)
He deserves Hall of Fame status for that :D

I actually DID play the LinCalibur Patch for a short period of time, but then the computer hardrive that I was using went TO THE GRAVEYARD!! :stalfos: >_<
EDIT: I tried to download all of the patches I wanted, but it didn't work out that way for some reason, & all I ended up with was the LinCalibur patch...
@Coinilius: thanks... ;)
& I'll try to play them ASAP...

My favorite memory was coming back for the second time to find all of the work mainly done. The first time I came to the BSZ Homepage I found all of the patches and half-working parts to be completely confusing and incomplete. I was looking to play as close to the original games as I could when I first showed up and I didn't think I could do that. The second time I came back after a year or two, things were better organized and explained and I think a lot more work had been done on the project.
I think that taking part in the competition Con kicked off was about the funnest for me. I really got a sense of historical Satellaview community spirit out of that.
KiddoCabbusses - February 17, 2011 05:42 PM (GMT)
Hard to say what my favorite is - it's probably a toss-up between seeing AST run on Real Hardware with the music hack, and the initial NicoNIcoDouga video finds which got me popping in here to dig out the music that was used in the first place.
ZethAlkar64 - April 6, 2011 09:40 PM (GMT)
Probably my favorite memory was actually finding this community and learning about the Satellaview from you guys and finding out ALTTP had a sequel. It was really nice to find such an involved community that rather spend time working together then fighting amongst themselves, its was really a nice change that I personally needed and probably what helped propel me to continue my work. Its the inspiration from this community and my chance to be able to play AST that help shape the URA Project's direction for things.
Duke Serkol - April 6, 2011 09:44 PM (GMT)
That's very good to hear, it is after all for the community of Zelda fans that this place exists :)
...now, know how you could repay the favor? Answer my PM :P
Tuf Pic - April 6, 2011 09:52 PM (GMT)
Hey guys, when-&-if I started a BS Zelda manga, would THAT qualify me for being a Hall-of-Famer?!
@ZethAlkar64: You have pretty much the same fond memories as me, although I haven't played the games that much, due to technical difficulties... >_<
Hope that changes soon, & it probably will, sooner or later, once I get Norton Antivirus Software installed...
& Zelda Ura combined with BS Zelda?! JUMPS FOR JOY!! ( :floater: )
COUNT ME IN!!
