Title: Zelda URA Project and more
ZethAlkar64 - August 26, 2010 02:19 AM (GMT)
Sorry its been a while guys since I've been here, been real busy with work and only having a small amount of time online, but I'm back. :)
I think I mentioned I've been working on the URA Zelda project for about 5-6 months now and released a sneak peak trailer of it back a couple months. I thought I would share it with you guys and share a couple of my other out of boredom 3D modeling/hacking. :)

Cool to see you posting those here, Zeth - like the spiritual stone cutscene in the other thread, I've been watching the URA trailer and your other videos on youtube already.
Also, some of those ALttP tiles actually make for interesting textures - I remember someone trying an ALttP texture pack for OoT a couple of years back but it didn't look anywhere near as good.
SmashManiac - August 26, 2010 04:43 AM (GMT)
Love the pyramid WIP and the
Twilight Princess graveyard.
Keep up the good work! B)

Really impressive Zeth, can you tell us something about that building where you fight those Dinolfos? Is that something that was left over in the game or is it born of speculation?
Loved the music too, though I imagine it's not going to be in the game. What's the name?
And what's up with the Japanese Triforce logo?
Lastly, the ALttP and TP in OoT videos where certainly loltastic, especially the choice to place Young Link in the TP one. Made it all the more evident how humongous TP is compared to OoT.
coinilius - August 26, 2010 03:30 PM (GMT)
When I watched the trailer, I was thinking the room with the Dinolfos was probably ment to be a Sky Temple or TP style Temple of Time.

The building with the Dinolfos is a custom dungeon that is still in the works for the URA Project, it is the wind temple, one of the 3 new dungeons being added to the game.
The Trailer music is called Audiomachine - League Of Darkness.
The Japanese Triforce Logo is the URA Project's Title screen logo as of currently, we decided to follow a design based from Kamigami no Triforce but with a more updated design.
And the design of TP was insanely big and I had to even cut away some parts just to get that map to load cause of how much geometry there is so the game wouldn't freeze up. Though it still surprises me how much the N64 game engine can handle.

Of these three dungeons, can you tell us if there is anything other than the name that was recovered from leftover data and/or beta screens?
I imagine the design (both looks and layout) for one is completely made up, right?

I understand the triangles hold the kanji for Power, Wisdom and Courage and that underthe logo it the game's name. What of the rest?

I'm really excited about all this Zelda 64 hacking that seems to be going on at the moment - is there a N64 hacking forum where you (and others) post at, Zeth? Or a blog for your projects or anything? I was looking for Zelda 64 hacks and hacking recently, but couldn't really find any where that seemed to be all that active.
I'm guessing one of the other temples is going to be an Ice Temple (based on the beta medallions from OoT).
MasterOfPuppets - August 27, 2010 01:15 AM (GMT)
Good to see someone else is doing a beta OOT as Unseen's seems to have no more progress being done on it. Good work!

There really isn't anything left from the dungeons that were taken out, only a few screenshots of a dungeon that was removed completely(The Temple of Wood), others are only mentioned in a brief moment. The dungeon of the Wind temple, its storyline and design is being thought up by me and the Team as with the other dungeons. I am hoping to do a restoration of the temple of wood.
@coinilius - Thanks for the support and I do run a website of my own which is where a lot of the N64 hacking community is along with my projects and other people who do hack the N64 games. You can find it here:
Site:
http://www.the-gcn.com/Forums
http://core.the-gcn.com/Forewarning we do have an email/admin approval system, so just let me know what your username is if you sign up and I'll approve it right away. ;)
@MasterOfPuppets - Our project is also supported by unseen64 just we don't update them constantly as a lot unless we have some real ground breaking stuff to show off to them. Just to make sure we are clear, we are not associated with the other Zelda beta teams of unseen and our project is not restoring Zelda64 but some elements from OOT's Prerelease while adding custom content. :3

Forgot to add that once we get the basis down for URA and have it near completion, we plan to make a BS Zelda representation of the hack as well. Which will allow you to choose to play as the mascot boy or girl. Does anyone have any artwork or official artwork of the mascots?

Sadly, there's no such thing :(
You know, if you want to make a BS version, then it ought to be timed and divided in four weeks ;)

Or not that we've found yet anyway. The official depictions of these characters can come from three sources that I know of:
1)The BS-X BIOS
2)BS Zelda 1
3)BS Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets
Beyond those sources, there might be some non-official artwork from Famitsu/Satellaview Tsushin, but as far as I know none of this has ever been found either. Most of this material has never been scanned either, though.
Apart from that, the closest you'll get is various fan depictions such as
this...

Thanks for those links, Zeth - I've registered on there (just using coinilius as my username) :)

Hey, I did a fan rendition of the mascots too - and it was for this site lol
MadHatter - August 29, 2010 04:41 PM (GMT)
Haha true. I remember having seen that one before. I guess we should also count duke's avatar here as a fan version of the male character.
...And then there's also the cutesified (I don't know if "chibi" is accurate here) versions of the female mascot that was posted along with Error and the Bully's friend from Death Mountain.

Uh... weird. Why a OoT styled fairy? A bee would have been more fitting. Then we have OoT (Young?) Link and... TP Zelda?
Weird. Very, very weird.
MadHatter - August 29, 2010 08:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah I'm not sure what the rationale was. The original thread I found this in is
here (it's in Spanish). It seems that the picture was a joke to explain to another forum member who the Heroes of Light are.

So no one has seen any official artwork of it? That's kind of sad ;-;
Also the artwork there kind of...odd...
So I got bored and made me one <.<

Sweet! I wish I could draw. As it is my avatar is someone else's work.

Very nice Zeth!
Is that the whole thing or did you cut it to make an avatar?

Its not finished yet, I just cropped the part that was done for a new avatar.
I was trying to keep to the very similar design of ALTTP's artwork. :3
When I finish it, I'll post the full thing here.

@Zeth: what system will your Zelda Ura hack be playable on?!
I guess this is a silly question, but better safe than sorry... (I hope it is for GameCube, which I'm guessing it probably IS)!!
& 1 other thing...
When-&-if I contact NoJ, & they allow me to write manga for them, I would like to use your hack for a Zelda Ura manga...
Would that be alright?!
P.S. I may not speak Japanese, (at least not YET), but
Shotaro Ishinomoridid an ALTTP comic book IN ENGLISH, so why couldn't I do something similar?!
& besides, there are several western comic book companies, that publish English-language manga, &/or alternatively, I could use a translating program such as BabelFish... :D

I don't want to burst your bubble but they won't let you write manga in Japanese if you use Babelfish as your means of getting the Japanese text. Babelfish is terrible anyway, use Google Language Tools.
KiddoCabbusses - October 30, 2010 11:15 PM (GMT)
Not to mention that I doubt you'd make it in Japan if you couldn't make it in America first.
Tuf Pic - October 31, 2010 07:08 PM (GMT)
@MoP: Thanks for the feedback... ;)
@KC: I could go to a comic book company that publishes...
OEL manga!!& I could use Google Language Tools to write a message in Japanese to NoJ, & see if they approve it, but first I'd have to hire my friend to help with the artwork, & then try to contact a company that does OEL mangas, & then see what happens from there... :D
That might work, possibly, don't you agree?!

My hack will be playable on the N64 emulator or flashcart if you have them, also I plan to port it to a wad so it could be played on the virtual console. Gamecube is a very unlikely.

Unfortunately, I only have the GameCube, although it currently is NOT HOOKED UP, but.... it's all I have at the moment...
I'll have to look into getting at least 1 of those options you named, although my N64 is now OUTDATED... :stalfos:
Could you try to get it playable on the GC, if at all posible?!
& I've contemplated doing a Zelda Ura manga for some time now, but haven't had an easy time getting the Debug Rom, to get the details on Zelda Ura from, so that's why I would like to use your hack...
Would that be alright?!

Its going pretty good, just recently finished restoring the Great Blue Fairy correctly instead of just having her load up.
Video of her restoration(Also my new youtube channel):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXrWAkHiLDE@Tuf Pic - As for the gamecube, even if I did get it to work and run on an ISO, how would you get to run on your gamecube?
Also about the manga feel free to man. :)

Is it just me or does the beta content (aside from Fairy shapes and colors) start only at 1:36?
Mh... Zelda did not throw the Ocarina and the ligth medallion is gray... is this significant?
The Wood Dungeon seems like a faithful re-creation and the Ice one is looking good! :)

Actually the beginning part of the trailer is the Beta of Link's Nightmare Cutscene(which was broken and needed fixing x.x;;), and the light medallion being silver is what the beta medallion looked like before model was switched to its final colours and shape.
@Everyone - I'm really glad you guys liked the trailer and the new dungeons! The team and I are looking at bringing a demo out by next summer so everyone can beginning experiencing the new feel the game will bring.
