Dave is pretty much your average guy. There is noting to distinguish him from another guy in the crowd. He has average features and believes himself to be less attractive than most. Fashion is one thing that he does not care for, in fact, he hates it with a passion. He will avoid wearing clothes as much as possible, such as his habit to sleep naked. Almost all the time he wears his casual or business casual in public, figuring there is no need to change out of them. In fact, he cares so little about fashion that he simply wears whatever random clothes he picks out, even if they don't match. None of what he actually wears is color-coded, the colors are always off. He enjoys wearing clothes from different time periods, either from the future or from the past, depending on his mood.

Personality:

Above anything else, Dave is simply curious about the world and the things around him. He is always the type to ask questions and to raise concerns when things become suspicious. He feels like he needs to know everything, believing that there's a reason for everything in the world now matter how small or strange it may be. He is one of the most intelligent students in his year and has a vast array of knowledge. He is also fond of history and some philosophy, enabling him to look at one situation in more than one way and thus giving him a wide range of options for a potential course of action. His vivid imagination also gives him the ability to think things through differently than others, providing his own unique insight to the situation at hand and imagine many possible outcomes.

Dave freely express his emotions how he thinks they should be expressed. Therefore, he is a completely free spirit and often lets his emotions guide him rather than his logic. A free-spirit, he acts however he pleases and cares little to what people have to say about his behavior. He says whatever comes to his mind without a second thought. This often gets him to trouble with authority and with those outside his group of friends who aren't accustomed to his behavior. Many people find him strange, that he acts too much like his friend Evanna who is an outcast much like he is. Perhaps that is why he considers the girl to be his soul mate as they do happen to share many beliefs and odd quirks. Both believe in things that are believed by everyone else to be make-believe such as werewolves, have some sort of belief in the afterlife, and are very fond of conspiracy theories. He is an avid subscriber conspiracy magazines which proves again that he doesn't follow the mainstream nor care what people have to say about him. Dave is also very protective of his friends, doing everything he can to ensure that no harm ever comes to them, even going so far to threatening or picking fights with those who do end up insulting them. It pains him to see his friends in any physical or emotional pain and does everything within his power to comfort them and to make them feel more comfortable. His friend's advice mean a great deal to him and he always considers what they have to say. For some reason, his friends seem to be more girls than guys as he feels much more comfortable talking to the opposite gender.

One flaw of his vivid imagination is the fact that he is highly easily distracted to the point some would say that he has ADD. He becomes distracted by almost anything, such as being distracted by shiny objects in the ground, squirrels, and dogs with puffy tails and then proceeding to chase after them. This has left him with little patience, although he does learn how to control himself when necessary. It has also led to his impulsive behavior, he will often go about a specific course of action without thinking of the consequences. It gives him the feeling that nobody can tell him if he's wrong, and he likely won't listen unless you're a friend. Much like Evanna, he has several odd quirks about himself that often lead to the scorn of others. He doesn't care what they might have to say about that as he is a complete free spirit and believes that all people should be free and happy to do what they please. Dave likes to walk around bear feet by choice even in the winter months, sleep naked, confusing his enemies by offering them treats, and he seems to have a craving for butterscotch icecream, believing that at the end of the day, things will turn out alright and he'll help himself to his favorite desert. He has a love for television, movies, and history as he often relates actual current events to events from fiction or history which he claims to help lighten the mood. He also seems to quote from famous movies whenever possible and enjoys giving nicknames to friends and enemies alike. He also tends to make up words, which are usually rather profane, when he is angry. Even if he is quirky, Dave is also generally selfless and always places the happiness and safety of his friends and others ahead of his own, believing the theory of the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. However, when a friend's life is in danger or during desperate circumstances, he will drop all ethics and will fight for the cause he has dedicated himself to.

Regardless of all of his eccentric behavior and oddities, he still retains his intelligence and dedication to his friends and Project Alpha

History:

Unlike his younger sister and best friend, Dave was not born on Earth, but rather, he was born on one of the human settlements on the Moon which by the five hundredth had many cities. However, shortly after his birth his parents moved to Earth when new laws came into effect which turned the Moon into a mining colony rather than a free one. This was a result of the war that was going on which had been going on for as long as anyone could remember. Despite this, Earth remained generally a safe haven for those who wanted to escape the war. However, all good things came to and end when Earth soon found itself involved. As a result, David's life was greatly affected by this horrible war.

Growing up in an advanced age, he was privy to all sorts of technology that kept him safe and provided for him while his parents were always off. The war kept them busy and he was often left home alone. Despite the dangers, he was curious enough to venture outside of the home. Earth wasn't the utopia he had heard about, but rather it was a war driven dystopia that was on the verge of annihilation. An oppressive government was in charge of the entire planet that kept its citizens in check with harsh laws such as curfew's, forcing all criminals into the military or face death, compulsory identification cards and so forth. The young David could care less as he went off exploring, but wasn't happy even when he did as he had nobody to spend any time with. Luckily his sister was born a year after him and his parents had adopted an abandoned girl by the name of Evanna Hartman who turned out to be an alien disguised as human. They were the only people he was able to spend time with and as a result, grew incredibly close. The three would often venture out on their own even though the war was only getting worse.. By his fifteenth birthday, he knew that the three couldn't lose any more of their childhood or life in a time like this. Not to mention he didn't want to be conscripted into the military by his next birthday. He had heard of an experiential time travel ship and knew that was his ticket to getting them out of there.

After several weeks of planning, he, along with Alana and Evanna, managed to successfully steal the ship during an enemy attack. He worked out the controls and escaped the war and his time. However, an accident ended the trip early and as a result, the three crashed landed in the twenty-first century. It was there he realized that the three needed to make the adjustment to the life of the time. Although it was primitive in his eyes, it was better than the constant threat of annihilation. He discovered that they had crashed near a small town in a place called California. He enrolled the three in the local high school where they befriended a small group of outcasts like themselves. Although Dave knew that anything he did would have some effect in the future, that didn't stop him from forming numerous relationships with more girls than he could count. He became addicted to sex and none of his relationships lasted for very long. It was also during this time when he began to notice that history was being changed and the idea of Project Alpha was born. It was the start of many adventures and experiences, some of which had a long lasting impact on his life. Knowing there were other secret organizations out there, he moved Project Alpha to a century after the war ended in his time, only to learn that almost everything had been destroyed. Regardless, he continued to prevent earlier changes from being made and was trying to discover what had gone wrong with the help of his friend. He is currently back in the twenty-first century after leaving it for a year, this time in Cardiff where he is researching the Rift.

Due to the nature of her organization, Dave has had many travels throughout time and space. During the initial development of Project Alpha, his first encounter going back in time was back in the American Revolution where he helped to uncover a plot by a rival faction to allow the British to win and fought in the war. He helped the team foil the plot and set history back to normal. He helped hold back a demonic invasion on one of Earth's first deep space stations in the year 2151, believed the team's ship was what had caused the 1947 Roswell Incident and had rescued Evanna after she had been taken prisoner by the government. He told the government to cover it up, and any future alien encounters, b angrily telling them to 'make some shit up about a weather balloon'. He fought in World Wars Two, Three, and Four and prevented any changes in history from being made, helped discover the sunken continent of Atlantis in the late twenty-first century, met Shakespeare, had a tragic time slip where he fell in love with a girl on board the Titanic, and was unable to save her and the ship(he considers this to be the first time he failed in his mission), formed a short lived rock band with the team while they were temporarily stranded in the sixties, saved Victorian England from vampires, enjoyed a trip to ancient Egypt and discovered the real secret behind the pyramids.

The events that had the most impact on his life was when he helped to form a resistance movement that successfully brought down the world dictatorship government in a parallel universe run by an evil alternate version of himself. He tried to reason with this version of himself, but was unable to and ended up killing him. It was this moment when he noticed how horrible things could get if he had used his technologly for evil instead of good. He also feared that he could end up like that and even considered dismantling Project Alpha. However, his friends convinced him that they would never let him turn out like that, and that he was still dedicated to protecting history rather than destroying it. He and the team later helped save that same universe 2500 years later (due to a time differential between the two universes) from zombies after an atomic war nearly destroyed the planet. He was also stranded in another parallel universe in which he was stuck in a three day time loop for six months while trying to prevent a large asteroid from destroying the planet. He was eventually able to and get back to his universe where only six minutes had passed. Due to another accident, he and Evanna were stranded in the twenties and lived up their lives, falling in love and forming a family, but this history was prevented then his older self warned Alana of the experiment that had caused the accident. Through her, he learned of the life he could have lived, but decided that it wasn't meant to happen and prevented it. Dave makes sure that he tells nobody of his adventures, knowing that most people wouldn't even believe him and to ensure history remains as it is.

As Dave is from the future, he has knowledge of historical events, Torchwood itself, and access to 501st century technologly. Some of this technologly includes a pair of 'invisibility gloves" that make whoever wears one of them become invisible with the press of a button, a working laser gun, a scanner capable of detecting alien life that doubles as a phone, and the self titled "Futuremobile", a car that can fly and become invisible. She does not make a habit of revealing his identity to anyone. He owns the remainder of Persian cats from the litter, which he named Kirby, Leeroy, and Lincoln.

Dave is the founder of Project Alpha, an organization which is situated and based in the late 501st century that is dedicated to combating alien and human threats throughout time. He has had numerous adventures throughout time and space, which he is forced to keep to himself.
