Playing in ballo nel vostro favore is a combination of "living" the canon Harry Potter books experience and playing Dungeons & Dragons and Russian Roulette. Especially Russian Roulette.
The action takes place during times of terror, times in which people die or disappear, or are bitten by vampires or werewolves. But people also seek to develop their abilities and do their best to fight for whatever they believe in. Therefore, in this game, there will often be what I'll call "random events".
Random events can happen to any character participating in this game.
Random events include, but are not limited to:
· Death
· Injury (typically temporary)
· Death of a relative
· Injury of a relative
· Werewolf bite
· Vampire bite
· Becoming animagus
· Becoming Legilimens
· Becoming Occlumens
· Becoming Legilimens and Occlumens
· Becoming Metamporphmagus
· Acquiring other special abilities (i.e. flying)
· Acquiring the ability to speak other languages
· Wanted or unwanted pregnancy
· Miscarriage
· Kidnapping
· Defeating an important opponent
· Acquisition of miscellaneous magical objects or weapons
· Possession (Lord Voldemort)
· Imperius Charm
· Cruciatus Charm
· Problems with the Ministry
· Expulsion of main group (Hogwarts, Death Eaters, Order of the Phoenix)
· Loss of personal property (i.e. house on fire)
· Receiving an inheritance
· Tendency to mental illness
· Legal problems
· Unfair imprisonment (bit rare though)
· Playing a crucial role in an important event (i.e. Ginny Weasley opening the Chamber of Secrets)
They are called "Random Events" because, as the game moves, the aforementioned things will happen to random people. Yes, I do mean random. I will be using virtual dice. For instance, when it is time for a student to be kidnapped, I will use dice to determine who will be the unfortunate student. If your character is the lucky (or unlucky) winner (or loser) of the draw, you will be sent a snapshot showing the dice with your number. I will usually "throw" the dice in the "presence" of a Moderator and/or one or more players, so they can see I take the regular amount of time for one draw. Or I may have a Moderator do it for me.
Yes, my characters are subject to this as well.
Certain random events will be published, such as death in battles. But some will be kept secret between the Admin, the Mods and the player. For instance, if your character becomes a werewolf, you will be given the choice of making it public to the rest of the players, or kept secret.
If you choose to keep an event secret, we will not tell but hints might be dropped, and any other character may figure it out (much like Snape and Hermione figured out that Lupin was a werewolf). If someone figures your secret out, they may or may not choose to make it public. The dice will be occasionally thrown for the remote possibility of someone spotting you red handed.
