when describing a boy like jakob, the word easy going usually comes to mind. well, at least now that he's 'settled down'. you could probably say the combination of marriage and mckenzie have moved his personality down a few knotches when it comes to being obnoxiously curious. he doesn't get himself into nearly as much trouble as he did as a child, but he still finds himself getting into people's things, finding things he probably shouldn't. nosy? not really - just curious. and that's how he's been since he was just a little kid. always stumbling, crawling, falling, climbing and making a mess of things. oh, yeah, and being loud? that was baby!jakob in a nutshell. now he's pretty much the same way, minus the loudness and the crawling, obviously. not that he isn't still known to cause the occasional ruckus and work or when he's out with his friends -- jakob has always been the go-to type when you want a fun night out on the town. when he's not busy with mckenzie, his sisters, or austen and caleb, at least.

if you would have asked jakob if he thought he would have found the love of his life his junior year of high school as a freshman, you would have gotten one amused guy. jakob's never been the type to think about the future. in fact, he hates it. it scares the hell out of him, which is probably why he avoids the subject at all costs. at least, he tries to. whether or not it works out 100% of the time, that's another subject, but does he try? yes indeed. he just figures it's all going to happen how it's supposed to happen - everything will fall into place in the end, so why mess with it all? why stress yourself out, trying to make everything perfect when you can just leave it all alone and let things unfold exactly how they're supposed to? sure, a lot of people would probably disagree with this statement but really, it's so much simplier this way. and simple is the best, yeah?

jakob has always been a bit of a flirt, because he barely had any relationships minus that with mckenzie in high school, he usually got his flirt on quite often. and he still does -- sometimes. it's nothing serious, really, he just likes to express just how pretty a girl is? he's usually joking, anyhow -- he's not big enough of a jerk to seriously go out and flirt with anything that breathes. besides, his wife is pretty hot, yeah?

if you even think of messing with the people jakob loves.. well, you'll get yours. you see, when you combine protectiveness and an inability to pick battles, you get a guy who's willing to throw the first punch if you even say something offensive about his family, his wife or those cute little things he calls his nephews. it all started out when his parents made him aware of the fact that his twin sisters were his to look out for, to protect, and it's kind of just stayed the same way since. although third grade level insults have grown to that of a strong, painful fist coming at you. aside from the fact that he has no problem kicking your ass if you mess with someone he loves, jakob really is a nice guy. he's never had a problem stopping to sign a few autographs and he's always agreed to attend as many meet and greets as possible. because he loves his fans? they're what made him who he is today, after all. but the papparazzi? don't even get him started of them. don't be surprised if you stumble on a handful of testy TMZ videos online. he's just not a big fan of people shoving cameras in his face when all he's trying to do is take austen and caleb out for lunch.

in the heat of a calm, august evening, sophia and james lafferty rushed to the hospital. after an intense nine months of pregnancy, sophia was finally getting that baby out of her - their first baby, and she couldn't have been more excited. and by the following morning, the happy, married couple had a tiny bundle of joy to call their own: jakob elliot lafferty. as for how the two handled having a new born baby on their hands? well, it probably would have been easier if jakob hadn't been such a fussy baby. he cried constantly - morning, afternoon and night - and rarely did the both of them get through a solid eight hours of sleep without being woken up to a screaming baby. small price to pay, right? okay, not exactly, considering things didn't get easier as jakob grew up, but we can get into all of that later. because not all that long after they'd finally started to get a handle on how to keep jakob under control, sophia gave james news that she was pregnant again. with twins. crazy, right? and man, was it difficult - between making sure curious george jakob didn't get himself into any sort of trouble and dealing with pregnancy hormones, morning sickness and weird cravings, the couple wasn't sure if the madness would ever stop. not to mention juggling their careers and the nonsense of the papparazzi constantly coming up with rumors regarding the mommy-to-be. they got through those tough nine months, though, and on october 31st, sophia gave birth to two beautiful twin girls. they were born a little earlier than expected but they were still as healthy as could be. as for jakob's opinion on the whole thing? well, he was a little too young to really have one. he was a mere thirteen months, barely enough to really have any idea as to what a baby (or a twin) was. so by the time jakob was two and a half, he kind of just figured the two lafferty girls were a some sort of puppy they'd bought him. which was what he started to call them - his pets. it didn't take too long before his parents corrected his silly mistake, though, stating that the two things wrapped in bright pink blankets were his sisters. and it was his job to take care of them.

from then on out, jakob took it upon himself to make sure the twins were always a-okay. it was his job, after all, and what was cooler than that? so between getting into the trash and destroying the house, jakob made it his priority to look after his sisters. it wasn't all that hard, though -- all they did was sleep. and cry. which he usually tried to calm down with a loud, obnoxious "SHHH!" which always resulted in the babies crying more and.. well, that usually ended with them screaming before james and sophia went up to calm the three of them down - the two babies who were crying in the first place and jakob who was crying as a result of the babies screaming at him. when jakob was three years old, he'd gotten the whole 'older brother' thing down a little better. it wasn't quite perfected just yet but it was on it's way. which was good, considering that was the year his parents had their fourth child. another little boy. which jakob thought was pretty friggin' cool. his sisters were cool and all, but they were girls. and girls had cooties, right? and so the second lafferty boy was jakob's third and final thing to look after - and man, was he devoted to it. there wasn't much to look out for when the three of them were babies (besides the occasional spider in their nurseries) but he was sure that sooner or later his protectiveness would come in handy.

although it's pretty cliche, jakob had a fairly boring childhood. his parents, as loving as they were, were rarely home. between their acting jobs and photocalls they were called to do, jakob, the twins and his younger brother were usually left with a nanny to look after them. not that jakob ever really listened to the old lady. she'd sit the four of them in front of a disney movie and expect them to be quiet? hah! instead, jakob figured it was his job to cause a rukus while his parents were gone. he'd get into the fridge, the cupboards, his parents' things - he'd even had a few scares tthat involved him downing chemical cleaning products as a child. jakob was just pretty much the type to push the limits and rules, regardless of whether his parents were present to witness it or not. by the time jake was in middle school, things hadn't really changed personality wise. at school, he was always the type to jump onto his desk and start breaking the rules as soon as the teacher stepped out of class to use the bathroom. which was probably why the prinicpal knew him by name. a week didn't go by where jakob wasn't called to the principal's office and he was always held up in detention after school. but really, christina's hair looked so much nicer after he'd cut the five inches off. soon, though, jakob began ditching his detention appointments to attend acting auditions and little gigs his parents had planned for him. and soon enough, his name was in the headlines - he was famous for something other than just being that cute son of the laffertys.

in high school, jakob was kind of just your typical guy. minus the whole i'm-becoming-a-big-time-actor thing. he wasn't cocky about it, though - he rarely flaunted his fame. it was just.. normal for him. growing up with his parents constantly heading out to go film an episode for a teleivision show, he thought nothing of the fact that instead of hanging out with his friends on saturday, he'd be flying out to new york to film a new comedy flick. it was kind of just second nature to the lafferty family. when he wasn't busy with big-shot-actor type stuff, though, jakob spent every second with his friends and his siblings. they'd cram the whole gang in the back of jakob's truck and drive at least a hundred miles, stopping at local sonics and grocery stores, laughing their heads off the entire time. why? just to goof off.

as for enemies, jakob had a few. like mattie's on and off boyfriend? yeah, definitely not jakob's best friend in the entire world. at first, with their constant arguements and fighting, it was obvious jakob would side with his sister and figure that apparently this dude wasn't all that great for her. if all they did was fight, he was clearly a jackass. and when mattie came to jakob with news that she was pregnant, he instantly took it upon himself to take care of her - with murray not around to take care of mattie throughout the whole thing, jakob was basically mattie's male support. and he wouldn't have had it any other way. he was there for her day and night, whether it be morning sickness or a random craving for chocolate ice cream and four in the morning.

relationship wise, jakob surprisingly didn't have all that many. he was clearly too busy to handle a solid relationship, let alone dating around. at least, that's what he thought up until he met mckenzie gaelotti his junior year of high school. the two dated on and off quite a bit, due to jakob's conflicting work schedule, but they always ended up back together soon enough. eventually, they decided enough was enough and they went steady - for real. jakob's work schedule didn't even matter; he'd call her between connecting flights and between filming and a few weeks later he'd be back. the entire school got a kick out of their relationship, too - they were crowned cutest couple in the yearbook, everyone constantly stared at the two holding hands down the hallway, the whole bit. so it was obvious that after high school, the two would still be together and as happy as can be, despite their habit of breaking up when they first started out. it wasn't long after high school that jakob proposed, obviously resulting in a 'yes' from mckenzie. they got married less than a year later, and are still as happy as ever.

by the time mattie's kids (yes, plural!) were born, mckenzie and jakob were already married. and jakob had surprisingly grown quite close to josh, after him and mattie got together once and for all. and being mattie's brother, it was obvious she'd give jakob the proud role of being one of the baby's god fathers. austen murray's, to be specific. and jakob was thrilled. sure, he wasn't one to like babies all that much but there was no denying just how awesome mattie's little boys were. so, obviously, if she needed a babysitter, jakob and mckenzie were there, regardless of their schedule that day. there's really nothing jakob loves more than his sisters, his wife and those two little boys.
