reading everything
I know, I know. We hate reading everything, word for word, all the time, but it's very important that you do, particularly before you post a tryout. Even afterwards, when you're a member, there may be announcements and notices that we want you to read. PLEASE READ THESE. They'll contain vital information and we'll know if you're not paying attention.

registration
Please register before posting a character biography. This is so that it is more organised and easier to link a character biography to a character. However, just because you register and post a character biography, does not mean that you can start RPing, as it does not automatically mean you are accepted to the RP. Please wait for a moderator or admin to approve your biography and move it to the “accepted” subforum before embarking on RPing or creating character relationships.

Spelling in your screenname is essential; if you make a mistake, the admins will change it, but we'd rather not, as it's not the most essential job we have to do and we can’t keep track of everybody’s screennames at any given moment. Hence, it is essential that you sign up with your character’s first and last name in the same format as below.

swearing, sex, drugs, etc
This RP is rated 15 according to British standards. Use your own common sense to work out what level of sex/swearing would be appropriate. There is a passworded mature board for those who want to do the whole smut thing, so please PM me if you would like this password. You will not be given this password unless your application says you are over 16.

editting
Please don't change anything on the biography or application templates for your characters. They are written this way for a reason. And no, you cannot substitute our forms for your own.

respect
Respect RPers and admin all the time. Racist, sexist or other such discriminating remarks will not be tolerated, and neither will cyber-bullying or slander. Nobody on this board is better than anyone else, so do not act like it, or else you will well and truly get on the admins' nerves, as well as those of your fellow RPers.

politics
We live in a multicultural world and I respect that, but please do not bring politics into the RP. If your character is an extreme liberal, then fine, and if they’re homophobic, that’s cool too, but I don’t want OOC drama ruining the experience for everyone, okay? IC drama = cool. OOC drama = not.

literacy
Andhockey sticks is an intermediate level RP board. This means that a three paragraph average post length is generally acceptable, except if you have a serious case of writer's block. Introductions can be longer, as can ICL posts. Just try your best to always match the post length of the other RPer, but if not, don't worry; this is supposed to be fun, not brain-draining.

activity
This is of the utmost importance. In order for this site to flourish, all RPers must be active as often as possible - and that doesn't mean just for the first week or two. We will be having regular activity checks to ensure that everyone is pulling their weight, so please, please, please do not sign up and disappear for months on end.
If you have a legitimate reason for being away, please let the admin know as soon as possible; that's just courteous.

advertisements
We welcome members and guests to post their advertisements on our board but only one ad per board. If you have breached this rule then your most recent ad will be deleted without notice.

moderating
Unless otherwise stated, the admin are the only ones who can enforce rules and take action against those who do not follow them. The RPers on this site are not like a secret police and should not go around accusing people of rulebreaking without evidence, and they will not - under any circumstances - ban people from the site (whether literally, or by excluding the RPer). Of course, if you have a problem, please PM an admin as soon as possible.

character limit
I am enforcing a limit of three characters per person to start with. This is to ensure we have a good number of RPers circulating and hopefully nobody will have to RP with themselves.

Having multiple characters does not give you an excuse to be inactive. Each character must be active equally.

stealing
No stealing, of anything. I've seen too many people do this, and you know what? It's infuriating. Do not steal the plot of my RP, or the characters created by our RPers. Steal and I will hunt you down and kill you myself, seriously. If I catch you stealing characters/plots/signatures you will be deleted, reported and IP banned.

face claim
The admins will update the master character list and the celebrity face claim list as soon as possible after accepting an application. However, it is possible that we may miss something or add your character to the wrong school, etc. Please let us know if this is the case and we will change it.

As another note: the average age of students in universities in Britain is 18-21 (depending on how far into their studies they are) for undergraduates and 21-23 for postgraduates. Obviously there are exceptions (“mature” students; over 21 for undergraduate courses). PBs should be picked accordingly.

Originality is key. This RP is set in the modern day so you pretty much have free reign over style/look, etc. However, I don’t really want to have a ton and a half of emo PBs, because that’s a bit boring. Spice it up a little! Go for the black guy, or even the chav! Branstone is an international university; don’t be afraid to make a Nigerian or South African student!
