Her chemistry lecture had only just finished and after three hours of chem theory Payton was ready to relax for a while, and the cafeteria seemed like the place according to her rumbling stomach. Sure she had taken some gum with her into the lecture and was quietly chewing on that the whole lecture but gum wasn't really a substantial meal for anyone.
And so she walked into the cafeteria with her small uni bag and a neat black folder in her hands and went straight to where the food was ordering a large hot chips and a coke, not the healthiest meal but she didn't feel like having a salad or sandwich at the moment, especially with the prices they were trying to charge people, five dollars for a sandwich was ridiculous in Paytons mind so she bought the cheap chips and drink instead. Everyone knew chips and coke tasted better than salad and water anyway. She sat down at the nearest empty table and started to eat her food while flicking through her file and reading over the notes from her last lecture even though she was now sick of them.

[Well... It says open to ALL, so I am going to jump in. If said jumping in upsets you, Dani will be late to some class and scurry away -nodnod-]
Modern Physics. What a drag. Now that it was her third year at Branstone, Danielle Soriano had started to realize how much of a pain being a Physics major was. Or science major in general. It seemed everyone around her was freaking out about Organic Chem or Genetics or something. Danielle's eyes were fairly out of focus as she scribbled down the words being said by the Professor in front of her. She occasionally received a poke from her friend next to her to keep her awake. Danielle pouted and glared. It was her choice if she wanted to zone out, rawr. Still Dani continued to mindless scribble down the equations and examples. It wasn't like the prof was asking any questions in class... Well, after what seemed to be hours and hours, the class was released. Danielle stood up and quickly rushed out of the classroom. Too much physics and not enough food is unhealthy for the soul! She snickered to herself at her stupidity and made her way over to Hyperphagia.
As Danielle entered the cafeteria, she scanned the sitting area for any familiar faces. There were none. She probably shouldn't have ditched her pokey friend back there, but whatever. Food was top priority right now. Danielle took a deep breathe before placing her order, "Cheese fries, chicken tenders, tater tots and a large coca cola please!" She finished with a bright smile and tried to hide her amusement at the open jaw of the woman at the cash register. No one ever expected such a little person to eat so much... but Danielle could really um put it away. Heh.
So once everything was loaded onto her tray, Dani began the hunt for an open table. She scanned the crowd once more, but this time for an empty seat. She frowned. Noothing! She stopped a few paces and found a girl who was sitting alone... Well, she looked friendly. And kinda familiar. Then again, all of the students in the Science department started looking alike after awhile. Well, there really was nowhere else to sit so Dani pushed aside her shyness for a minute.
"Um, everywhere else is full. Do you mind if I sit here? I'll share my cheese fries!" she offered with a small grin.

[Yay someone to post with, you are most welcome here ] Reading over yet another chemical composition and finally realising that none of it was actually getting to her brain Payton finally stopped trying to read and instead contented herself with staring aimlessly at the page hoping that maybe that would help it to sink in. "Um, everywhere else is full. Do you mind if I sit here? I'll share my cheese fries!" a voice said from above her and Payton was barely able to contain her glee at the fact that she could finally get rid of the stupid work in front of her. Closing her file a little too hard and wincing slightly she looked up at the small girl standing next to her table with a grin, "Definitly, just so long as I no longer have to stare at this rubbish" she said jokingly waving her folder about a little bit before putting it on the floor next to her feet, "I don't think I ever want to see another chemical equation ever" she laughed rolling her eyes and motioning for the girl to sit down, "Please sit, I'm Payton"She knew she was probably speaking a little too fast and a little too much for the first meeting of two people but she was just so happy to have a reason to leave her work alone for a while, three hours of lectures was a long time to sit down and listen to a lecturer talk about something you'd lost interest in an hour and a half ago.

Danielle beamed as the girl invited her to take a seat. She seemed to welcome the distraction. She took a seat across from her and placed her pile of food down on the table and tried to take a glance at what Payton had been studying before she slammed it shut, but the word "chemistry" pretty much gave away that it had to be something not-so-fun-at-all. Dani laughed slightly and grinned. "Well, I'm glad to be of assistance! Chemistry was always a bit confusing to me. I'm majoring in Physics though. At least that makes sense." She nodded firmly before popping a tater tot into her mouth.
She swallowed her food before speaking again, "I'm Danielle. People call me Dani though." She tilted her head, "So, are you majoring in Chem? Or just taking the course right now?" She was lucky enough to only have to take intro chem, but this poor girl could actually be doing it throughout her entire collegiate career, which had to suck. Danielle poked her cheese fries forward remembering her offer when she first sat down. At least this way they were in the center of the table. And who could resist cheese fries?
For some reason, Danielle was good at being sociable when there was food around. Had this been any other occasion she would've skulked to the corner of the room and not said anything, but here she was. It was small talk, but still. It surprised her how easily she talked to Payton.
"So, what year are you?" Dani inquired before popping yet another tater tot into her mouth.

Payton was glad the girl was a lot more sociable than she had first seemed, when she'd come up to Payton she had looked very nervous and now that she'd sat down she was very chatty and friendly, just how Payton liked them.
"So, are you majoring in Chem? Or just taking the course right now?" she said after introducing herself to Payton, her name was Dani, and Payton shook her head happily, "No I'm majoring in Forensics and minoring in chem, I mean I'm crazy but I'm not that crazy" sure Payton had always enjoyed chemistry but no to the point where she would want to do it for the rest of her life, nope way too much chemistry in Payton's opinion, "What about you? What are you doing?"
She was surprised at how easy it was to get along with Dani, Payton was a naturally determined and intimidating person so finding someone who she could actually talk to as easily as her older brother was a rare thing for her. And in answer to Dani's question about what year she was in Payton put up three fingers happily and said, "Third year thank god, I'm ready to put study behind me for a while"

Yes, and we can thank the food for Danielle's chattiness. Otherwise she'd be in the corner staring at the wall. Dani was glad to hear that Payton wasn't so crazy as to actually major in chemistry. That was like asking the universe to laugh at you then squish you with it's mighty universey shoe. Mhm. She nodded, "Forensics sounds interesting. I'm a physics major. I'm hoping to be either an engineer or maybe go on to study and be a professor after I'm done with this."
Though Danielle doubted she'd ever be taken seriously as a professor. She stood at 5'2 and had a very soft voice. Not exactly someone most people always paid attention to. Danielle now moved on from her tater tots to the piece of fried boneless chicken in front of her. Mmm. Yum! In truth, Danielle probably should have been the size of a cow by now, but the genetics gods had smiled upon her. She often got jaw drops at how much she ate, but hey, she had a big appetite!
"Third year? Me too! This year is so set in your major though, huh? Last year I still had some core requirements, but now I'm taking almost all physics classes. It gets so frustrating." She said shaking her head. Sure, she liked the subject, but so many calculations tend to drive you batty after awhile. Which had just been demonstrated by Payton and her chemistry note studying.

Payton nodded her head with a grin, she loved her degree. Every day in Forensics was something new and challenging. At the moment one of her units was on toxicology which was really fascinating for her, "Well at the moment I'm doing a lot of chemistry" she laughed shaking some brown hair out of her face, "I've got two chemistry units and then my extra chem units, I think I went a little crazy with the chemistry, but atleast there's some other stuff in there though" she told Dani chattily.
"Yeah I know what you mean I can't wait for this year to be over so that I can just start working or do something else" Payton said nodding her head again and regretting her decission to leave her hair down that morning. Payton had long dark brown hair that reached down to her mid back and was cut in various neat lengths so that it wasn't just a big mess of hair, it suited her sharp facial features and soften them out a bit but when left down the bits of hair which wouldn't go behind her back flew into her face.
When Dani mentioned her career choices Payton agreed with both of them, she could see Dani doing either of those careers even though she'd only just met the girl. Sure Dani was pretty soft spoken but Payton had had a few soft spoken lecturers herself over the years and they had been pretty good teachers, "I'm planning to go into the police force or something like that, maybe drug testing"

Ew, a lot of chemistry? Danielle grimaced at the girl and offered her a sympathy tater tot. Food always makes things better! She shook her head in apology, "That sounds pretty hard! Good luck" All of her classes were physics related at the moment. Although they were hard, she'd much rather be calculating those equations all day than anywhere near chemistry.
It was good to know she wasn't the only one dying to be done with college. Yeah, it was fun at first, but now Danielle just wanted to be done with it. How many years had she been in school? I felt like forever. Though the idea of the real world was fairly terrifying. Hm. Lose lose situation?
"Yeah, doing actual work seems like it'll be a nice change from studystudystudy and take the test. Ooh police force. That'd be really interesting! And drug testing? That sounds cool too." Danielle nodded to confirm said coolness.

Payton shrugged and took the tater tot, free food was always appreciated for a broke university student anywhere in the world. And Payton was just that, completely and utterly broke. She had a savings account but she'd blown all of that on university fees, books and a new car, "It's not so bad I've always been fairly good at Chemistry, physics is where I had problems in high school" she grinnned over at Dani knowing she was doing heaps of Physics this year. Physics and math subjects were the ones that had always been the hardest for Payton but she'd studied hard and passed them all with flying colours much to her own thrill.
Laughing once Dani had finished her ranting about the coolness of her job choices Payton popped another few chips into her mouth and swallowed them before saying, "I'm hoping so, it would suck if I went through 13 years of high school and three years of university and came out in the end with a job I hated, how much would that suck"
Just the thought of that happened almost terrified Payton, she'd put so much work into her schooling to get to where she was going and if she didn't like it it would feel like a complete failure to her, something she was never good at dealing with.

Ew. University fees did often get Danielle down as well, but then she always kept a good amount of money kept away for food just because it was such a necessity. Besides eating all she really did was study so it was alright. Heh. Danielle raised her eyebrows. Understanding chemistry but not physics? But physics was so much easier! At least in her personal opinion. Maybe Payton was just wired differently. Danielle shook her head, "I've always loved Physics. It just makes more sense to me because you can actually see it! A lot of chemistry and biology seems abstract to me." She shrugged.
Danielle nodded in agreement. If all those years of schooling lead to unhappiness, it'd be enough to make someone pull their hair out. "That probably won't happen though. I mean, if you know what you plan on doing and are interested in it, how could it?" She asked with her head to the side.
Though it seemed a lot of people did often end up in jobs they hated, but there were various reasons for that. Either they didn't go to school or were forced into something or just weren't interested in their subject, but if you liked what you were doing you should be okay, right? ...Right?

"I get what you mean, a lot of Chemistry has been theory since we can't actually fiddle around with molecules but since technology is so great these days there has a been a lot of stuff we have been able to do" Payton told her happily with a shrug, "I think it's all the math involved in physics, I was never good at math, and even the small amount of math in chemistry I need to study really hard for" Math had never been a strong point for Payton which made it strange that she enjoyed science so much but she did.
"Oh I've done work experience for what I want to do so I'm pretty sure I'm going in the right direction" Payton said managing to hid the almost blinding fear that she would get out into the real world and realise it wasn't what she wanted to with her life. But another part of her reminded her of what she had worked for all of her life and she knew that it was what she wanted to do. Or hoped she knew at least.
