The Rules

REGISTERING:

I. The Name. When you register, please do so with simply a first name. Due to the fact that you aren't really going to be playing true humans, last names seem pretty redundant to me. One really important note as far as names go is that for the love of good use proper capitalization.

Good Example: Yearn

Bad Examples:yearn, yEaRn, Samantha_suicide, dracos_little_hottie.

However, I am aware that mistakes happen. If you do sign up with a name that isn’t suitable, please just PM an Admin and they will change it for you.

Creativity, when it comes to naming your character, is always appreciated. Have some fun with it.

II. No Prefixes. If you apply for the King of the Llyr, or the Avians Leader, please do not put their title at the start of your username. If you are accepted in this role, an Admin will change it for you.

III. Be Different. The two races of species you have to play with both have their fair share of strength and weaknesses. They also have a lot of space for character development. Try new things out, be different, I want to see some truly unique characters here. Stretch those brain muscles -- challenge your creativity.


APPLYING:

IV. The Form When applying for a character please fill out the correct form and post it in the correct area of the board. If you have posted an unfinished application, you will have three days to complete it; otherwise it will be moved to the archives. This means you can reclaim the application if you so desire and finish it off. If we haven’t heard anything from you in a week, your account will be deleted.

V. Face Claim. Please note, face claims are not deemed necessary on this board. Obviously you may use an image of a celebrity in your signature if you so choose, after all, both species can appear human. However, you are also more than welcome to have a Sig featuring coral reefs, or bird in the sky etc. Be creative. It may also contain drawing or artistic impressions of your character (I would love to see what you can all come up with.) Image size max is 500x200 pixels. You are allowed multiple images as long as they do no succeed this.

VI. The Edits. Being asked to edit your application many happen, and please don’t take this as a negative thing. With such a site as Paradiso there are certain aspects that must be upheld, others that you have a lot of freedom over. However, to maintain the integrity of the site there may be small things we wish you to alter, these edits help keep the balance.

VII. Being accepted. Once accepted your application will be moved to the Accepted Applications forum, and you will be given full freedom to post wherever you so choose on the board. All sorts of pretty things should have happened, your username should change color etc. Isn't this exciting.


ACTIVITY:

IIX. Activity. Please be prepared to pop on at least every couple of days to catch up on what has been happening and reply to your threads. If you feel the need to take a break for a while, whatever the cause may be, please leave a note in the absences board. Activity checks will happen every three months. If you do not reply there, or in the absences board, you will be deleted.

IX. Deletion. If you are deleted, please understand that this is not the be all and end all. Basically, I like to keep my boards neat, hence the deletion. However, as mentioned above, profiles will be moved to the archives. All you need do is re-register and PM an Admin. They will be more than happy to supply you with your previous profile.


RPING:

X. Rating As a general rule this board will be rated PG-13. However I also understand that there is a War happening between the Llyr and the Avians, and that wars are not always pretty. Think you are pushing the PG-13 rating? Put a warning in your title to let everyone know, something along the lines of TOPICTITLE (R/NC-17) will be fine. Please don’t turn this into a porn site (although…why you would want top RP sex with two giant sea snakes is beyond me =P). Strong language is allowed, but in moderation.

XI. Consent This site is going to be a consent based RP when it comes to the fight scenes. Basically, I understand if you become attached to a character and don't wish their death. However, I also need you to understand that there is a war going on in this game, and therefore people die. They get hurt, injured, permanently maimed etc. This cannot be done without the players consent, but it can still happen.

Relationships Relationships between the Avians and the Llyr may be good at the moment, but this does not mean cross-species love relationships are allowed. They are frowned on by both societies, and are seen as wrong. If you want to have a relationship of this type, PM an Admin explaining your reasons.

XII. Realism In ragards to the previous rule, please be realistic. If you get in a fight your character is not going to come out of it without injuries, they are not going to be able to block every attack that comes their way. "In-Character actions result in In-Character consequences."

XII. IC/OOC. What happens In-Character, stays In-Character. Just because two characters are enemies, I don’t want to see a single Out-Of-Character fight. Simple right?

XIII. Posts. Please keep post length reasonable, and written in third-person. When writing a post, you should aim for at least two paragraphs. More earns you cookies. Less and we understand. One liners and you will be asked to try harder. Good Grammar = a happy Admin, and spellcheck is your friend. Again, not asking for a novel, just some effort.

XIV. Double-Posting. Double-Posting is a pet hate of mine, the edit button is your friend. However, should you Double-Post, please PM an Admin immediately and they will delete it for you. Double-Posts on purpose will be deleted without warning, and PM’s will be sent.


OOC:

XV. Respect. At the end of the day, manners cost you nothing. Be polite to the Admins, but also the other members; we are all just here for a good time. Discriminatory language will not be tolerated; for example the Admins do not want to read anything of Racist, Homophobic or Sexist content. Jokes about religion will also not be tolerated.

XVI. Spam. Basically, just don’t do it. Makes my head hurt, and purely random topics don’t work. Play a forum game, make a poll, even if it is just about people’s favorite cheese. Anything entirely random will be deleted as spam.
