What about your character(s) should people notice right off the bat on first meeting? What might they become aware of from living in close quarters for a bit? What will their close friends have noticed that maybe not everyone else will? Anything from dress style and visible piercings to mannerisms to who they're crushing on/dating/hating to deep dark secrets.

I'm about to run out the door, so I don't really have time to answer for Kurt atm, but just wanted people to start giving it some thought. What should we all know?

ETA: Oh! Quick and easy Kurt one - he is excessively pierced. 5 hoops in each ear, one in his left eyebrow, one in his tail, did almost all of them himself so they're uneven. You probably get that from the av, but still. wink.gif Also, right forearm has a pretty big, keloided, light blueish/whiteish brand scar of "X3" that he doesn't bother to try and cover up anymore but used to.

Hrm.

What would people know about Betsy?

Well, a couple of years back, she was a pretty big deal in the fashion world. She'll be familiar to girls who read magazines, guys who like looking at pictures of pretty ladies on the internet and well, probably most people who don't fall into those categories will have seen her in adverts (printed, billboards, on TV, whatever) pictures in stores or stuff. She tries to stay in the biz a bit, but given how often she has to cancel on people, she's not working much.

Appearance stuff? She's generally pretty well turned out, even when she's just dossing, it tends to be a rather affected, deliberate scruffiness. Her clothes tend to be pretty expensive.

Personal life? Hrm. She's dating Warren and very open about it. She's open to new people and eager to make friends and help other people feel at home.

If she's not your friend already, you probably want her to be wink.gif

Anyone who has seen the Brotherhood before will notice pretty much right away that Rogue has recently dyed her hair. It is all brown at the moment.

She also has a pretty big X7 tattoo on her right forearm, and she doesn't really try to cover it up, either. At least not beyond her usual trying to cover up. She does tend to wear tank tops a lot when she doesn't think that running into someone is going to be an issue, so there's a good chance that you'd see it. Similarly, there's a really big scar on her back, that goes from her left shoulder to right by her spine, about 1/3 of the way down her back. It's pretty easy to see if that skin is exposed.

Um. She has two holes in each earlobe and her navel is pierced, but that's it.

Oh, and if you are at the mansion, you know that she was (and may still be) evil. So... yeah.

Mystique is blue and naked and if you focus too much on either of those facts, there is a good chance that you will get shot.

I may have missed something, but I am le tired and will fix that when I am less tired.

Callisto is almost completely covered with black, tribal style tattoos. They begin on her neck, under her chin, and cover everything except the back of her hands, her breasts, stomach, inner legs and feet. Unless she’s wearing a turtleneck, at least some of them will be visible. The right side of her face is scarred, and her right eye is white (when not covered by the eyepatch or corrective contacts). She has three earrings in the left ear, and two in the right, but the number of piercings will change on her whim. They heal over and she re-pierces as the mood takes her. She is thin and very muscular. She also speaks with a soft, barely present accent that suggests that English might not be her first language. It probably comes off as vaguely Eastern European or Arabic. She dresses almost entirely in black at all times, wears lots of leather and military style clothing. And she is always, always armed.

Marrow has magenta hair, cut bi-level and sheared very short on the right side, is very tall, and has four earrings in her left ear, and three in the right. Her navel is also pierced. She is very thin and almost all muscle, and often allows a certain amount of bone to show through her skin (and I’ll be sure to include it in my posts when she does). She's notably lacking a WX tattoo, as her healing ability prevented it from being permanent. She dresses punk/goth, and rarely wears a skirt/dress.

Ok, now that I have time I'll do it properly and I'll repost the initial stuff here to have it in one place.

Kurt is excessively pierced. 5 hoops in each ear, one in his left eyebrow, one in his tail; did almost all of them himself so they're uneven. You probably get that from the av, but still. wink.gif

He's also excessively tactile and if you're amenable to it and he knows you well enough (read anyone friendly who's been there for any length of time who doesn't have personal space or touching issues) you'll get mauled to one degree or another. Anything from an arm around the shoulders to random hugs, being swung about or pounced on, lap being confiscated, dragged into a lap, tickled, latched onto by a tail...very tactile. His respect for personal space is entirely artificial but he tries not to make people uncomfortable.

Also, right forearm has a pretty big, keloided, light blueish/whiteish brand scar of "X3" that he doesn't bother to try and cover up anymore but used to. Also, if you know him well enough to ever get used as a foot rest the soles of his feet are keloided all to hell with burn scars and only have feeling in a few spots. He'll answer any questions about them matter of factly and with the minimum necessary information, so if you'd have asked then you know it's from Weapon X. He won't say more than that he was there, how long he was there, that he got those scars there and that it was a very bad place and he's glad it's over. He's not at all maudlin about it but he will *not* talk about what they made him do or did to him beyond that.

He's an adrenaline junky. You want to do something crazy dangerous in RL or in the DR and he will so be there with you.

The DR! Was invented JUST FOR HIS PERSONAL ENJOYMENT. No, really, he is convinced of this. He has a HUGE range of sims that he's either laboriously programmed himself or conned other, more talented, people into programming for him over the years. It is THE BEST TOY EVER. CHRISTMAS EVERY DAY. COME PLAY WITH HIM! You can ALWAYS con him into playing there if he has time and it's open. (Scott needs to loosen up and ENJOY the DR more.)

He likes to drink. He likes to drink a lot. He's a very social drinker and while Alex is his bestest best drinking buddy if you want someone to go out for a drink with or just sit around and have a few beers while watching a movie it's unlikely he'll say no if he doesn't have other plans.

He's not gay, but he's nowhere near straight and while he doesn't advertise he doesn't go too far out of his way to hide it, either. Translation, anyone who's oblivious or doesn't *want* to know won't, anyone who's moderately observant/gives a damn/is particularly close to him will. It's not a big deal, it's just part of the freak package.

There is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about Paige's physical appearance (well, in her natural state) -- average height (5'7"), slim but muscular, long blond hair, blue eyes, a few freckles here and there. Even her dress is unassuming; her wardrobe tends toward jeans and t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, Chucks and running shoes. She has no tattoos or unusual piercings (she has one hole in each earlobe and that's it), nor does she try to draw attention to herself with makeup, which she generally only ever wears on special occasions.

Basically, she's pretty boring to look at.

Personality-wise, she's a walking paradox. She can come off as bubbly and ditzy, and then five minutes later give the impression she's a genius stuck in her own world and unable to communicate with anyone. She can also seem stuffy and repressed, and to some degree this is true, but really she's just a bookworm and doesn't have many social skills to speak of, so she feels awkward in social situations. She hates feeling out of control and unsure of herself, so rather than put herself into those scenarios she acts as if they don't interest her in the least and that they're somehow beneath her. If someone actually does get her to go out and loosen up a little, though, they'll find that she can actually be a lot of fun, once she stops worrying so much about her image and what everyone else thinks about her.

Her closest friends would know that she's a sucker for Disney movies and particularly identifies with Belle from Beauty and the Beast; she studies science because she's good at it and it's got a certain prestige, but she has no idea what she would actually do with it -- but she will under no circumstances actually admit this insecurity to anyone; she is generally meticulous about what she eats, but if she's with friends or in some altered emotional state, she's been known to scarf down an entire bag of Cheetos on her own (which, again, she won't admit).

Living in close quarters to her would be a nightmare, quite honestly. For someone who's so borderline OCD about her studies, she's amazingly sloppy and careless about her room and her own appearance when she's in hardcore study mode. It's not unusual to see her wearing two different shoes or a horribly mismatched outfit when she's in her room, if you can even see her barricaded in her mountains of books and notebooks and clothes scattered everywhere. She also pushes herself too hard and has a habit of falling asleep -- more than once -- at her desk, so it's also not unusual to find her passed out across a stack of books with her glasses skewed and drooling on her arm. She knows how to charm.

Stuff to know about Meg... Well, besides being very pink (hair, skin, cheek spots) and having totally black eyes, Megan has twice pierced earlobes though they're very basic and not at all stretchy sorts because she finds lobe stretching to be grody. She also recently got her nose pierced so there is always a slender blue hoop in her right nostril. She's of very average height and lighter in her weight to accommodate her bright rainbow colored butterfly wings. She rarely ever walks long distances, preferring to fly or flit, which ever. Her wardrobe is very colorful and cheerful with cutesie patterns and can be considered somewhat childish, along with a small nation of costume and period pieces that she makes herself just because she can. She wears no pink and only darker reds.

Megan is a pretty happy person who can go off on long tangents about anything and everything and sometimes she just needs someone to shut her up. Other times, she is the perfect listener. She has very little respect for personal space, loving to hug and cuddle though if requested, she will back off. She is a video game and music junkie, plays cello which is her major in a sense and does not dance as she's very clumsy on her feet. Meg is a fantabulous cook though she prefers her specialty of baking. Everyone in the mansion has had some of her baking multiple times (excluding Jono due to no mouth syndrome). If she is terribly nervous or worried, expect her to be baking and making a constant stream of tea.

On Valentine's Day, everyone present in the mansion got a personalized cookie taped to their door in a pretty bag.

She has a horrible crush on Bobby but has never admitted it to anyone and likely never will. Meg flirts easily with men and women though most of the time she never realizes she's doing it and will get very embarrassed when she does realize it. She doesn't like saying dirty things or apparently even thinking them. Meg tries not to curse but sometimes it slips out and that's when you know she feels very strongly about something. Her room is kept in pristine condition. She loves to watch movies and mock them and enjoys being around people as much as possible.

Meg never, ever believes anyone when they say she is not a bug but in fact a cute pixie girl. Never ever. Only she's gotten very tired of arguing about it. She is terrified of birds. Quite nearly phobic really.

When she's extremely upset or very, very tired, her speech impediment breaks through where she pronounces all her 'R's as 'W's. (Welease Wodewick!)

(And I might add more as I think of it...)

Okay, so. Alex!

Um. Well, he likes surfing. Like, a lot. Which anyone who talks to him for more than a half hour or so will know. He's always trying to persuade people to let him teach them how to surf, and he has an AWESOME DR PROGRAM FOR SURFING, so if anyone would have been suckered in by his "Surfing is awesome, man," he will have been so very happy to be surfing instructor.

He also collects surfing posters. Surfboards, surfers on the beach, people surfing, big waves, they're all good. He's got quite a nice collection, but he's always looking for more, and he's positively thrilled whenever he gets one. So those make very, very good Christmas/birthday presents.

Oh! Appearance! Alex has tattoos. And he likes to wear tanktops and shorts, or jeans and no shirt, on occassion, so it's likely that everyone will know of at least two of his tattoos: a shark fin sticking out from an armband of waves around his upper left arm and a surfboard with "lo’ihi ola a nalu" written on it between his shoulder blades.

Alex is a huge flirt, and has most likely flirted at least once with every girl in the mansion. Even Jean. Because he can't help himself. But he makes a conscious effort not to flirt with the JX-ers since becoming their leader, and he's gotten past the flirting with Jean stage now. ...he also flirts with Kurt. And has no problem with flirting with guys, although only if they fall into a flirting pattern first.

Drinking! Alex is always up for providing supervision for drinking. Just ask, and as long as it's not too often, Alex is good to go.

Aaaand that's all I can think of for now, so yes!

Off the bat:
Jean's bio covers most of this stuff (physical attributes, speech, behavior, style, personality, etc.), so I shan't spam ya with a repeat here! To add to it, instead: She favors subtle, musky perfumes and doesn't maintain strong or consistent eye contact (ah, her mother's voice in memory: Now, now, Jeannie, staring is rude). I'll emphasize that she requires her space, both physical and emotional -- isn't touchy-feely at all (though she's graciously polite about directing it away) and is usually coolly reserved and controlled on first impression.

In close quarters:
Old movies and flowers, yay! All that "interesting facts" from the bio, except for the bad poetry (only Scott's seen that). She doesn't flirt, but, again, is gracious about going along until she can deflect it to something more comfortable and appropriate (in her opinion). She retreats now and then to either the library or somewhere on the grounds, to get some breathing room. Walking in the woods and going for a horseback ride are favorite destressing techniques, and when she's feeling social again, she likes company for both. She's a pretty relaxed and approachable housemate as long as she's not feeling control-freaky over something bugging her.

With close friends:
Well, she has maybe two of these: Scott and Ororo if that's how it turns out (I'm going off the canon for that inclusion, but won't insist on it with a Storm player!). So . . . not much to say here, really. Closeness is a big thing with her, after all, especially after WX; she doesn't unbend and unwind with just anyone, both to protect herself and because she thinks that it would be a terrible imposition (so rude!) on the other person. Even with the original Fab Five teammates, she keeps a little of herself back, though longtime observers will probably know and read her better than she wants to think.

She's a boring old stick-in-the-mud. Sorry. sad.gif Of course, things can change with RP, so we'll see!

Let's start with Jubilee. Her appearance can be found in detail here, but to sum it up:
Chinese. Pretty/cute, but rarely dolls up. Blue eyes. Almost always wears hoop earrings. Often wears red choker with "X" on it. Her hands are slightly scarred from her powers, but otherwise she's scar, tattoo and piercing free. Generally vivid and cheery, but can also look kinda cynical - more because she feels the need to have an opinion about everything ever than because she's truly so jaded, though she can be if she's in a negative mood.

Dress-wise, she's pretty crazy and wears just about everything. One day she can pass as pretty normal with jeans and a babydoll shirt, the next she'll wear an outfit that looks like a colour-blind three year old pieced it together. She's all about colour. No perfume. Little make-up beyond the occasional fruit-flavoured lip gloss or glitter. Some jewelry - like earrings and choker - but not too much. No rings ever, for power purposes. Often wears sunglasses, of which she has a wiiide variety.

Also, she loves her green/yellow leather coat - the movieverse one. It's the ELF equivalent to her 616 yellow raincoat. She wears it all the damn time.

Those who've been around for the full two years she's been there will know she had a lot shorter hair before, but grew it out in her time at the Institute. She was also somewhat bitchier way in the beginning, but mellowed out since then.

She luuuurves candy. Especially bubblegum and lollipops.

Though she talks and acts pretty valley-girl like, people will probably be able to figure out pretty quickly that she doesn't follow the stereotype. Music-wise, she loves '70s punk rock. When she listens to more current music it's often upbeat, slightly odd/alternative stuff, anything from Jamiroquai to Wheatus to Weird Al. She's also a tomboy, and will pretty happily ignore the fact that she's supposed to be an 18 year old girl superhero and entertain herself by climbing in trees or pulling dangerous stunts with her rollerblades/skateboard. Also, horror movies? The scarier the better. She even enjoys her gore, as long as it's self-aware and tongue-in-cheek. She's also pretty tough from living on the streets for a few years, which most people will know. She doesn't advertise it, but will discuss it in a fairly distant manner if it comes up. So yeah, despite the love of shopping and peppering of her speech with "like" and "totally" and "whatever", she's not 100% valley girl.

She's unhealthily attached to Logan.

She has dyscalculia which causes a lot of trouble for her. She's perpetually late and struggles with reading clocks/judging time passed/etc in general, sucks at math, and doesn't handle her money too well. She generally just hands massive notes or uses her debit card to keep from having to calculate how much money to give people. She's got a poor sense of direction and distance. Most JX won't be aware that she has an actual disorder and will probably just write these things off as laziness, lack of intelligence, lack of interest, lack of responsibility, or whatever. The X-Men probably know, though, but she doesn't like to talk about it and generally avoids situations she knows will be problematic.

She rarely ever talks about her parents. October 19 is a Bad Day for her, though, and she tends to get pretty bummed around Christmas time as well.

Annnnd she practices gymnastics fairly obsessively so she's generally in the basement a lot. And she's crazy flexy.

Her trust fund allowed her to buy a car after her 18th birthday this July. It's bright, bright, bright, bright yellow. She loves it. Touch it and you will get paffed.

Speaking of - she loves her powers. Her powers are the best thing ever. E-ver. She uses them constantly, as entertainment, to threaten people with it, or what the hell ever. Generally, it's safe to assume that if you've known her for ten minutes, you'll have gotten an extensive fireworks show. She is not embarrassed of being a mutant to the point of being stupid about it and uses her powers in public way more than she ought to. She tries to be responsible about it like everyone tells her to, but, uh. It's Jubilee. 'nuff said.

Like everyone else, Kitty's appearance in detail is to be found in her profile. Upon first meeting, no particular feature would strike you so much as an overall impression of great effort; you know, those girls in high school, who were perfectly coiffed and clothed and made-up every day? Kitty is that girl. She Does Not Veg. Her fashion sense is a pretty good image of whatever's in Seventeen at the moment, but she steers clear of anything intended to enhance curves, she since doesn't have any. She's pretty thin and somewhat sensitive about it; a mixture of dancing and a questionable teenage diet keeps her underweight, and while she thinks it's a good weight, other people might not agree. Her collarbones and hipbones stick out a bit. She wears mostly muted or light colors, warm pinks and yellows and creams that flatter her coloring. She loves shorts and short skirts.

She speaks and moves like a valley girl and does a better job of hiding the fact that she's not a stereotype than most girls do. You could go several months knowing Kitty before it dawned on you that she had a brain. To new arrivals or people she doesn't know well, Kitty has a decent sense of humor and is charming and kind of cute but otherwise completely disposable. She gauges her conversation so that she comes off as slightly less intelligent, if possible, than the person she's talking to in order to keep from ever being intimidating; she places a lot of her self-value in the image others have of her.

She will make at least an attempt to make friends with every single person at the mansion, but she's extremely judgmental, and with people she thinks are difficult or thinks she wouldn't like, she won't try as hard. Or at all. She's not the kind to start a rumor -- well, at least completely make one up -- but she does help keep them flowing.

To those who she knows well, she's extremely intelligent, loyal, and, like everyone else, more complicated than she appears. She's great at math and the sciences, especially computer science, and more than willing to help other people. Most people will be aware that she has some major dysfunction, but she hates acknowledging it. Rather than avoid talking about her parents, she just avoids talking about their divorce. Unless directly confronted, she never admits any rough patches. She doesn't seek comfort, but rather folds in on herself for a few days if she can no longer keep up appearances.

She loves loves loves to dance and spends a decent amount of time at her studio in Westchester. She's mostly into ballet, but also takes jazz and modern, though she's so over tap it's not even funny. She'll take any excuse to go out at night. She's somewhat restless in general and is always looking for something to do; she loves going into town or coming up with "adventures" so she can seem spontaneous. She loves her Vespa and the sound it makes when she forces it into the higher gears without adequate speed.

The first thing that's very obvious to EVERYONE in the mansion is that Victor is a kid. He's 14 (soon to be 15) and looks it. There is no mistaking him for an adult or hell, even someone who can drive.

Vic's head spikes are made of a fingernail-ish material and there's six of them. They're pointy but not pointed, so you'd have to ram yourself pretty hard against them to cut. They can't be broken off.

Vic, unlike the comic version, has dark green scales a little down the backs of his arms and legs and definitely down his shoulders and spine. They're flexible but hard and come to the middle of his thighs and upper arms and usually have dry skin around them where he's scratched. Victor scratches a lot. When he's bored, nervous, or whatever.

He loves to skateboard and play video games and he will OWN you at Mario Kart. His good subjects in school are math and history, and his bad ones are English (when he has to write papers or compositions) and science.

Irene is pretty much WYSIWYG, as described in her bio. Let's see, what else . . .

Unlike Jean (because I like to be different with different characters!), she does make eye contact, especially if it makes the target uncomfortable. She will stare at someone with her blind eyes, all naked and wall-to-wall white, until she wins. She doesn't really see with them, after all, but with her powers, so staring contests are no big deal to her. It amuses her, and she likes easy entertainment.

She doesn't talk about herself. Or her past. Or what she's thinking unless directly asked or ordered to do so. Information is power, and a frail old lady with only the gift of precognition to protect herself will use that power to the hilt. She confides in Raven, and that's it. Even Erik can get the "cold, aloof oracle" front sometimes (and he'll just have to like it).

She hates the Internet. It's so showy and confusing and impossible to predict! She avoids computer talk, accordingly. Modern technology sucks. She would allow how cellular phones are useful, though. Maybe microwaves, too.

As mentioned in the bio, she doesn't eat much (speaking of microwaves) and that usually in her suite. At communal meals, if there are any in the warehouse and she can't get out of it, she just sits and watches, maybe drinks a little water. It's not to add to her mystique, but because sharing that bodily function is vulgar to her mind, and not for just any old occasion. She's big on rituals and appearances and all that mystical/superstitious crap. She doesn't step on sidewalk cracks, she blesses sneezes, and so on.

Big on routine, too. A person can practically set a watch by Irene's schedule, which revolves around studying her journals in her office for more hints of the future. She spends time in the gym for exercise, goes to staff meetings, but otherwise stays in. She doesn't travel much anymore, not as she used to in past decades, so a person can always find her, too, if she's needed for something.

Her sense of humor is dark, arch, and dry. She doesn't have much of a personal touch, but will unbend for jokes now and then!
