((Alright! Time to start Role Playing! Anyone can join.))

Icestar padded through the undergrowth slowly, carefully. The morning sun sank deep into her blue-gray pelt, warming her. IceClan’s leader was glad that it was New-leaf; Leaf-bares lasted so long and were very harsh for the clans, though she supposed that that made every cat stronger in a way. Now that it was New-leaf Icestar thanked StarClan that her clan had made it through the past Leaf-bare mostly in tacked.

Now Icestar was leading a hunting patrol. The rest of the patrol was close, even though she could sense no signs of their presence. Her warriors we skilled hunters, and they were proving it to her by her in ability to detect them, which would mean that the prey wouldn’t detect them either. Icestar also was a good hunter. She seemed to slither over the ground, placing her paws lightly as she progressed forward. Her eyes were focused a head of her, watching for any prey that may scamper across her path. Her ears were alert to the sounds of prey as she scented the air every so often to see if she could pick up its trail.

Icestar came to a halt, she reached a pound. Peering down into the clear water she saw her reflection staring back up at her. When Icestar looked at her reflection she was shocked. A few seasons ago she would have seen a bright-eye, enthusiastic warrior, ready for anything. Now Icestar saw a tired looking, somewhat worn out looking, aging leader. Icestar was still pretty young and she looked it, but whenever she looked at her reflection in a pool of water she saw the same image she was staring at now. Since becoming leader of IceClan, Icestar had noticed changes in herself, or at least in the way she saw herself. And she didn’t like the changes she saw.

With a longing sigh, Icestar stepped away from the pound, not wanting to have to look herself in the eyes any longer. She padded alongside the edge of the pound, keeping a few tail lengths away from the water as to not catch a glimpse of herself.

Once again, Icestar stopped, but this time is was because she had spotted prey nearby. She lowered herself into a hunters crouch and began to stalk forward, closing in on the robin that was searching for food itself right by the shoreline. Icestar didn’t panic as the robin started flapping its wings to take off; she merely pounced, catching the bird as it tried to take off. After ending the birds struggle quickly, Icestar buried it among the roots of an oak to be collected later.

((How about the deputy? Lol.))

Quiet rustlings of paw pads sliding across the grass was the only evidence of predator movements. Gray brown eyes narrow as a rabbit froze in its place. The wind was still, calm, and there was no way that the warrior had been detected. The rabbit relaxed again, and no sooner had it than a maine coon cat sprang out from the shadows. The rabbit whipped its head around and made a desperate leap, seeking shelter from those huge paws. But they thudded down on it and soon, it lay limp.

The deputy buried the rabbit at the base of a tree. He backed up a little to make sure it wasn't noticeable; he despised scavengers, and they had a habit of attacking hidden killed prey. He huffed, then turned and took a step forward. His paw pads failed to recognize the ice before it was too late; he slipped a little and immediately his claws were out and scraping across the cool surface. They couldn't grab a firm hold, however, and suddenly he went from tipping forward to landing on his belly on the frozen pond. His chin hit hard and throbbed, and now he had the dilemma of trying to get back up. He sighed; he hoped that the patrol wasn't headed this way.

He tried to get up a few times before he finally realized that that wasn't going to work. So he used his hind legs to propel himself off the ice. Once he got to firm ground he scrambled off of the pond, then turned to narrow his eyes at it. He heard a chitter and turned back around to see a robin safe on its perch in a high branch of a tree, chirping at him. Was it laughing at him? He hissed at the bird as the prey hopped down to a lower branch to mock him. With one rather impressive leap, his foreclaws punctured the birds wings and brought it down to the ground. He killed it then buried it to find it later underneath the same tree it had been mocking him at.

Ha. Take that you stupid bird.

((That was so much fun to write xD))

Snowflakepelt could see Tigergrowl further ahead of her. She carried on hunting for a bit. She suddenly saw a flicker of life in a small tree not far away from her. She began to clamber the smal stree swiftly, and then pounced quickly. She just missed but the bird's wing was injured and so it's fly was slow and so Snowflakepelt sprang swiftly and quickly out of the tree and leapt for the bird. She bought it down easily enough then buried it at the bottom of the tree. She could spot a large rabbit hole, nearly invisible from the pine neeldles that fell from the tree above it.

Snowflakepelt was a talented digger and dug a quick escape route in case the earth of the roof came over her. She then chased a rabbit to the bottom of its tunnel, then wounded it's right back leg. She raced out of the tullel and into her other one. Then she dug to where the rabbit was in in the other tunnel, and now only a weak wall of earth was between them. She waited until the rabbit's scent of fear was gone, then, she sprang through the thin wall of earth and pinned down and bit the neck of the rabbit. She sprang through the tunnel and uncoverd her bird. She picked both of in her mouth and headed back to catch up with the rest of the hunting patrol.

After burying her prey, Icestar returned to the cover of the trees, leaving the pound behind her. She was able to spot members of the patrol she was leading as they began catching prey. She watched as Tigergrowl caught a rabbit, but her eyes left her deputy as she spotted Snowflakepelt taking down a bird. The clan will be well fed today, she thought to herself as she was about to refocus on her hunting.

She was distracted for a moment though because of the chirping of a bird up ahead. She prowled closer to the source as she saw the bird jump down to a lower branch. From the angle she was at she knew she wouldn’t be able to get the bird, but she also didn’t see Tigergrowl from where she was. Suddenly Tigergrowl seemed to come out of absolutely no where and take down the bird in the tree.

“Good catch,” she meowed, stepping out from the cover of the trees to congratulate her deputy. Icestar had been good friends with Tigergrowl for a long time, and Icestar trusted him a lot, that is why she picked him as deputy, but he wasn’t her first deputy. Icestar’s first deputy had been killed by a fox who had tried to attack the nursery.

Flurrystorm, the former deputy, had sacrificed himself to save the kits and queens not too long ago. Icestar had known Flurrystorm longer then she has known Tigergrowl, Flurrystorm and Icestar had been kits together; Flurrystorm had been Icestar’s only friend as a kit. When they became warriors many cats had expected them to become mates, but that never happened. Flurrystorm had fallen in love with a different she-cat, and Icestar had been chosen as deputy. They stayed good friends though, and when Icestar became leader it was no surprise that Flurrystorm was named deputy. The only shock was when Flurrystorm was killed by the fox when he was in his prime. Icestar came close to breaking the warrior code by not naming a deputy before moonhigh, but luckily just as the moon seemed to reach its highest point she declared Tigergrowl her new deputy.

Now that she was thinking about Flurrystorm Icestar’s heart seemed to sink and she felt like the whole forest was crashing down around her. With a sigh she tried to ignore the pain of her memories and tried to focus on the moment. The hunting patrol would be making the last few kills and she would have to lead them back to camp and continue with her duties as a leader. Everything would continue normally, as it always did, just like after Flurrystorm had died. Tigergrowl stepped up and took over all the responsibilities of being a deputy, seeming to know exactly what had to be done and doing his best to make sure it got done.

I have to stop dwelling on the past, she thought shaking her head slightly as her eyes drifted to the frozen pound. It was new leaf and to Icestar’s surprise, not everything had thawed out yet. “Tigergrowl?” she meowed, turning her attention back to her deputy. “Do you think it’s strange that this pond is still frozen over?” Icestar hesitated before she asked her question, almost as if she had wanted to say something else but changed her mind at the last second and said something completely different.

At that same moment she spotted Snowflakepelt making her way through the trees to catch up to them. She noticed that Snowflakepelt was carrying a rabbit and the bird that she saw her catch a little while ago. She must be bringing them both up here to make everything easier to collect later, Icestar thought to herself as her eyes returned to Tigergrowl, hoping that he wouldn’t notice the hesitation or her change in tone.

When Snowflakepelt had caught up with the rest of the patrol, she noticed athat one of the ponds was still frozen. New-leaf was coming and it was unusual for the ponds to still be frozen. "This pond is still frozen?" Snowflakepelt asked in disbelief. She dropped her prey and buried it again under a pile of warm earth and colder leaves. She rememberd the previous deputy, Flurrystorm, had once told her that the warm earth keeps the prey warm and and cold leaves keep it fresh. She felt a sudden pang of sadness at the thought of the deputy. Icestar missed him alot as they had been friends since they were kits.

”I found it strange that the pond was frozen as well,” Icestar meowed turning her icy blye gaze to Snowflakepelt. “This pond must have been covered with very thick ice,” Icestar meowed, her voice sounding almost distant as she glanced out onto the frozen surface of the pound. That is when she noticed that the pound didn’t seem to have any streams flowing to or from it. That must be why it’s still frozen, it hasn’t been very warm yet this Newleaf and with the water of the pond being still, it hasn’t been able to completely thaw, though near the middle the ice looks weak, Icestar thought to herself, surprised that she pound seemed to have no source of water filling it or draining it. Icestar figured that the rain water must keep the pond full, though how it had not flooded yet was a mystery to her. I suppose everything has it’s secrets, she thought her attention turning to Tigergrowl to see if he had anything to say about the frozen pond.

Tigergrowl's ears flickered and his gaze glared briefly at the pond as Icestar mentioned it. But she didn't seem to know about his little...incident with the ice. He allowed Snowflakepelt speak first and twitched his tail. He rubbed his paw pads on the soft grass and turned his gaze on the pond. "The ice is thick, I can see from here," he added seemlessly, tilting his head to the side. The pond was isolated from everything else. I wonder how it got here, he thought to himself, eyes narrowing at it for a moment.

"It's probably still cold, because no streams are coming from it." His tail tip flicked as he stood up and padded over to the edge. He dragged one claw across the glassy surface. It cut in deep, but there was quite the amount of ice underneath it. He backed up again and gave a slight shrug to the other two. "Any isolated ponds are probably the same. There's no running water under the ice to break it up, and it's not hot enough to melt." His pelt flicked and he fell silent. His gaze noticed a flicker of sadness in the two she cats' gazes (though he thought he imagined it in his leader's) and wondered what the two were thinking about. But he shrugged it off and kept quiet.

OOC: By the way guys, please all leaders post in the gathering, I'ts very late for it and we need to get it over with.

Snowflakepelt nodded in agreement. "Shall we carry on now?" She suggested to the rest of the patrol.

(short I know, but I can't think of much right now)

Icestar listened to Tigergrowl as he spoke, nodding in agreement with what he said. For a long moment she stayed silent, her eyes staring blankly into the distance. After a few moments Icestar nodded in response to Snowflakepelt question. “Yes, let us continue,” she meowed turning away from the pound and back to the forest. Though they had caught quite a bit already, it would be a good idea to continue hunting so the fresh-kill pile would be nice and full.

She padded into the forest, knowing that Tigergrowl and Snowflakepelt would follow her into the forest before spreading out to hunt. Continuing deeper into the forest she opened her sense fully, allowing scents and sounds to be absorbed. Within a few moments she was hit by the scent of mouse. With the breeze hitting her head on she knew that the mouse was hiding among the bushes dead ahead. She covered the few tail lengths quickly and silently, spotting the mouse when she was less then a tail length away.

Unfortunately the mouse sensed her as well. The mouse began to dash off, but Icestar was right on its tail, literally. Icestar caught to mouse by its tail, stopping it in its tracks. She quickly sank her teeth into the neck of the mouse, killing it instantly. She buried the mouse under a juniper berry bush to collect later, before the patrol headed back to camp.
