CLASSES
the class system works as follows:

CROWLEYAN OFFICIAL - works for/with elizabeth crowley. these people are few and far between. they can get away with murder. literally. there are no laws for them, no problems. unless, of course, they betray their position. all officials get automatic residence on sillmore.
OPTIMUS - literally, aristocrats. these are people who openly support elizabeth though they do not work in politics. they are wealthy and, in general, very high up in society. they are well-educated and mostly the creme de la creme of society. they have to obide by the laws, but mostly laws are loose.
PECUNIOSIS - literally, rich. these people ARE rich. they own businesses, are well-educated, often get to socialise with the optimus. some are even lucky enough to graduate to optimus through marriage and fraternisation. the law, however, is pretty damn tight on these guys. they never forget just how lucky they are to be in elizabeth's good books.
MEDIOCRIS - literally, average. most of the world's popuation is mediocris. they are the little guys who work for the three top classes. sometimes, they may be fortunate enough to get a nice house or to get their kids into hogwarts, but mostly they settle for the quiet life. after all, no rules are bent for THEM.
INFIMUS - literally, low down. let's say these people weren't all that lucky. mostly they work long hours, live in crappy housing and spend most their life wishing they were one of the people they work for. elizabeth's famous regime is very prominent among them and they have to toe the line very carefully in order to avoid prosecution. people of tainted blood are automatically placed in this rank.
PAPUER - it's self-explantory. these are people who live in the slums, have no jobs, no money and can't even move around when and where they feel like. their passes are extremely tight and if they are very very lucky, in the course of their lifetime they may move up to infimus. this is unlikely, though.
MACULOSUS - literally, polluted. half-bloods, muggles, magical creatures. they never move up to another class. once maculosus, always maculosus. these are the people living in extradition camps and working as slaves. all muggles are automatically maculosus. if sold as a slave, a member of this class obeys every whim of their master. if 'free' their passes do not allow them to move out of the area in which they reside. if owned, they have to have written permission from their owner to move about. surprisingly, most spend their lives dreaming about becoming slaves.

PASSES

every person receives a pass upon turning sixteen and officially becoming an adult. a pass works like an ID in our life. but more than that, it dictates where the person may and may not go. they also dictate what the person may and may not do, who they're married to, who their children are, where they work, etc. if found without a pass, anyone, with the exception of officials, perhaps, will be instantly executed. their's too much risk that they're maculosus or something else equally filthy.

EDUCATION

the education system has been changed drastically since our knowledge of hp.

HOGWARTS is a school for WORTHY INDIVIDUALS ONLY. children of crowleyan officials get instant access in, optimus get preference next. everyone entering, besides those lucky crowleyan official kids, have to write and pass a series of complicated exams that many spend year studying for. they also have to perform sporting wise and are judged on appearance. anyone lucky enough to graduate from hogwarts is bound to have a good life.

even in hogwarts, the Only Place Entirely Made Up Of Worthy Individuals, students are further split up, although the original house system has long since been replaced.
ALPHA - these are the people who ace every test. they are automatically expected to become crowleyan officials on graduation and therefore get special treatment. they have single dorms, are allowed to come and go as they please and have a section of special classes.
BETA - not quite at the top, these are mainly CO children who didn't have the brains of their parents. they are, along with gamma, treated normally. with these two houses, elizabeth retained the original plan. beta's are expected to be studious and quiet - a house comparable to ravenclaw.
GAMMA - like beta, only the children did slightly worse on their tests on the way in. they are expected to exhibit kindness and politeness as well as exceptional loyalty. it can be comparable to hufflepuff.
DELTA - they only just scraped in and can never forget that. delta's are the misfits of the school, never quite among the top achievers like the other three houses. but just the opportunity of having HOGWARTS ALUMNUS on their pass is enough to make them put up with seven years of humiliation.

DUMTAXAT

a comparitively new school, founded in 2012, the year after elizabeth took over. it was created for the sole purpose of educating the future work force of the country. classes are practical, simple. exams are fairly easy to pass for anyone who has studied. it is, however, not THAT easy to get in. entrance is incredibly competitive since most of britain and surrounds try to become part of the dumtaxat crowd. it is the biggest school.

the house system works on a similar principle to hogwarts' and continue from four (where hogwarts houses stop)

EPSILON - the top house at the school. they are the royalty of the huge crowd that passes through the schools doors. prefects and head girl/boy are always chosen from this house.
DIGAMMA - the next house. they are always somewhat bitter at being second but at least thei competition isn't too fierce. most semi-successful adults will proudly tell you they are a digamma almnus and many life-long friendships are formed.
ZETA - if digamma's are somewhat bitter, zeta's are very bitter. not only did they get into the almost bottom house, but they are also the scapegoats of the school. no zeta has ever achieved much in the world - simply because at school they spent most their time in detention for something the epsilons did.
ETA - these guys are just grateful to have made it into dumtaxat. a little less on the entrance tests and they would have had to join the sorry crowd at nequam. well. thank goodness for general knowledge. some of the most jolly people come from this house.

NEQUAM

literally, the title of the school means worthless or good for nothing. those unlucky enough not to get into dumtaxat (and certainly not hogwarts if they've sunk this low) attend this school. it is a day school, with floo networks connecting it to other places. most infimus and pauper children can expect to come here since they are given absolutely no preference at the other schools. no houses exist.

EVERY CHILD FROM CROWLEYAN OFFICIAL TO PAUPER RECEIVES AN EDUCATION. WHETHER IT BE HOGWARTS OR NEQUAM, THEY ARE TAUGHT. MACULOSUS CHILDREN DO NOT GET AN EDUCATION, UNLESS A SLAVE CHILD IN WHICH CASE IT IS FOR THE MASTER TO GIVE IT TO THEM.

LAW ENFORCEMENT

considering the importance of the law in crowleyan society, several branches of law enforcement have been formed.

POLICE

pretty obvious. they are the lowest rank in the law enforcement chain and are made up almost entirely of mediocris males. their job is to uphold the basic laws. check for passes, stop violent crimes, catch pickpockets. in short, they are exactly like our police. the only real difference, of course, is that they have the right to kill if a person is found without a pass. the irony, in this, is that if THEY are discovered without one, they also can be shot.

all in all, though they do not have much say over what happens. they get orders, carry them out and go about their lives without much thought. considering the punishments, it is surprising they are even needed - but apparently masochists who try and kill themselves by committing crimes still exist. anyway. that sums their little jobs up, just about.

AMPULUS POLICE

to translate this literally, it means very very much police. these are the men in charge of the police ranks. they give the order and they deal with more serious drama. upon a person's detainment, the AP (as they are commonly known) will go over the files concerning this event and either sanction it or set the person free. they really are people to be buds with. of course, it is not REALLY up to them to decide, but, honestly, does it seem likely to you that the really high up people will sit and study pickpocket files and why they were released? i doubt it.

despite their title and their seemingly important jobs, the AP rarely makes any really important decisions. sure, they sort of decide people's fates, but sort of are the key words. if they screw up, their high ups will crucify them. literally. which is why, it really doesn't seem all that intelligent to mess up if you are lucky enough to get in. which isn't likely considering how many other prospective epsilon graduates there are and how many talented police men who would give anything for a promotion.

CROWLEY'S MEN

now here we come to the seat of the power. they don't even get a special euphemistic latin name. they are crowley's men, and that's what they're called. they decide everything. things that nobody even knows they decide. they are the crowleyan officials employed within law enforcement. there are three divisions within this exclusive and terribly complicated organisation.
● PIGNUS - if you translate this literally, it means pawn. it doesn't really sum up what they do all that well. their job is to control all apsects of society. law enforcement and otherwise to make sure that no shit happens anywhere. and that is that.
● MILITIS - they could be described as a sort of secret service type thing. literally translated, their title means soldier. they protect the crowley family, they snoop out any illegitimate activity high up within the ranks and, well, god only knows what else they do. the kgb has NOTHING on them. they no everything.
● REX - literally translated, it means king. there are three men in this division. rumour has it that they are crowley's right hand men, despite not being politicians. no one really knows what they do, but you can be bloody sure that they aren't sitting in their lounge drinking hot chocolate all day. although, how can you really know?

POLITICS

to say the world isn't a democratic place is an understatement. the shortened version would be that ELIZABETH CROWLEY rules the world. she doesn't really have a title, but does she really need one? everyone knows she's boss. it does seem kind of odd that someone with such an underlying obsession to give absolutely everything a name - a latin name, normally, hasn't even bothered to give herself a title. but, really, she has better things to do.

next to her, several people have been put up as help. they, of course, have titles.

these are also the employees of the british ministry of magic in the dpeartment of crowley affairs.

DEXTERA PRIMORIS - literally the top right hand.
DEXTERA ALTERUM - literally the other right hand
THE CONCIUM - a council of thirteen that meets once every fortnight to discuss laws, the world and so on
SUBSIDIUM - there are ten subsidiums all in all. they are taken on once a year from a selection of alpha graduates. they are glorified secretaries, but they get to have the inside information on the functioning of society. after a year, they are given another job. the experience, however meagre it may sound to be a secretary, earns them a comfy spot for the rest of their life.

THE MINiSTRY OF MAGIC

it is still up and functioning, same as ever, except with the obvious missing minister. but. who are we to judge. it works, everything's great and that's all that matters. several departments have had their names changed but still do the same things. the only serious change has been that the department of law enforcement now answers directly to crowley's men. anyway. read on.

DEPARTMENT OF GAMES AND SPORT - fairly obvious. they control quidditch, gobstones, whatever other games people play.
DEPARTMENT OF CATASTROPHES - deal with extreme situations such as droughts, earthquakes, etc.
DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION - talk to other ministries. obviously, all countries now answer to ms crowley, but the department has been kept on so that people don't hold any personal grudges against other countries.
DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT - see top of page. they also have the sub-departments that were in the books, minus the aurors, of course.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTANTION AND TRANSIT - control floo powder, apparation, portkeys, other forms of magical transportation as well as deal with passes and visas.
DEPARTMENT FOR THE CONTROL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS - control the various animals and half-breeds of the country.
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION - control the schools, exams and other aspects of education.
DEPARTMENT FOR THE CONTROL OF ILLEGITIMATE ACTIVITY AND OBJECTS - deal with bans, finding illegal objects and constantly doing busts to check for passes, etc.
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH - a special section of the ministry dealing with health and setting healer standards, etc.
DEPARTMENT OF CROWLEY AFFAIRS - control the ministry. see politics paragraph for more.
