Well, guys, I have a completely crazy and genius plan. I'm currently in the process of collecting RPG-7 parts and know a guy who can cast me a copy of a demilled tube.

So far, I have a trigger assembly, a pair of wooden East German heatshields, and the heatshield bands, all provided by various members of the AK Forum.

I am using a small metal valve and blowgun nozzle (cut down) and other parts to build an RPG-7V that runs off of paintball tanks, as the standard ASA fitting at the blast cone will indicate. A regulator is to be built into it as well.

that sounds awsome! I was thinking of making an airsoft mortar out of a potato gun style setup. I would just have to find a device to use for a wad to hold the pressure in. And find some super cheap ass BB's in large quantities. Thats what dunhams and walmart are for right? haha

Yes I believe cheap BBs can be found almost anywhere. That and some kind of powder would work very well. I'm using it in my RPG-7 heads.

You'd have to go pneumatic though, you can pre-charge the mortar, and then you would have more power than a combustion. Combustion would only blow you up.

In fact, a contact of mine and I have the same idea involving a spring and a 12-gram mortar. The bomb would be hollow foam and full of BBs or powder.

If you wanted an 81mm mortar, for example, you'd need a wad of similar size to hold the BBs in. Then you got a spread area. Aiming this indirect-fire device would be more difficult. You might want to have a sort of sighting system.

ya, for the "potato gun set- up" i would be basically exactly that but cut down shorter

The combustion chamber will be at the bottom, so you will place the wad down the tube, then pour the bb's in on top of the wad. Since there is no wad on top the bb's should just go everywhere once it is lit

basically all you need is hairspray and a BBQ lighter to ignite it(same as potato gun)

..and as for the aiming system, it would probably just consist of doing some test fires at different angles and marking the different ranges right on it.

It would probably be a one time thing per game because I plan to have it shoot 5 to 10 thousand bb's in the air at a time. if my plan works it should have a very very wide spread over the field biggrin.gif

Its not really meant to be accurate because you want the widest spread possible when you are using that many bb's

Good point Ian. The way my RPG-7 works, I say it's supposed to bust openon impact and spray all persons in bunker with BBs. Flour for effect as well. I've been hit with flour. Not too bad, unless you're asthmatic or allergic or something.

You should make a separate thread for your idea. Maybe in the "other" section? Mortars are used by many factions you know.

Well, I'm making the tube using measurements I took off of an RPG-7V picture I found on motionpicturearmorer.

I'm still getting the valve and some other parts, so it will hopefully be ready for the March game. The RPG-7V prototype may be functional for our game, even if I have to use .12g frag loads (with a 40mm ping-pong ball as a wad) and Nerf Howler warheads for busting bunkers.

The PG-7V round will be made soon, and I intend to make copies of the RPG launcher itself, so I can sell them to other gamers. Maybe $250-300 apiece with 3 detailed PG-7V foam heads. Depends on the production cost, it cost me a lot to get all the parts and research this beast of a weapon.

Great artillery weapon, especially for an axis-themed team like us.

As a side note, a huge "mortar" that fires once per game would be great for "air support!"

What size mortar you thinking of making? If it's a realistic replica, I can aid you with pictures and stuff.

Also, this is more or less what I'm going for...

The sights will be included of course, but the scope won't. Besides, it doesn't help a lot on the real-steel launcher, but I'm going to include a Russian scope rail so you can mount optics of your choice anyway.

The missiles I will make are going to be hollow headed and made of Nerf type foam, for the purpose of delivering the payload of your choice.

The traditional PG-7V heads are the first of course. We all know and love them. Still waiting for a guy selling resin copies of it to arrive stateside. He'll be in Ukraine until March, so when I start gaming I'll have to make do with Nerf Howlers and BB showers and stuff.

Using parts like these, silicone rubber, and some Flex FoamIT 2x or 6x material, depending on my needs, I can make a ton of them for airsoft play. But for hard, solid PG-7V heads, I can direct you to the creator of them.

Well, not much needed. I'm going to cast the tube in plaster, and from the mold I will produce a tougher resin tube.

What I'm doing now is just to get the basic shape down.

And it continues to take shape. Need hard rubber to make molds for resin casting of shown parts.
