Ya, I can't really find reliable or good ratings on those complexes. Anyone have anything to add because I pretty much want to live in one of those places? |

I must point out that even in the apartmen hunting thread, bronz was still able to leave his mark...still going strong, though...This is the determination that I like to see

I am looking at all the same places as you guys. What are your feelings on a roomate? Should I look for one, or live alone? Any of you guys looking for a roomate? I have narrowed my choice down to the four main places in Bryn Mayr and Manyunk. Any ideas I am open.

I'm looking for a roommate.. but I'm not really sure how to go about it. The Villanova roommate list is like.. three people for girls so far so I was kind of put off by that. I would like to have a roommate just so I could cut expenses, meet someone since its a new area for me.. that type of thing.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I'd like a roomate, but in the sense of geting a 2 BR apartment and each getting a room, since I'll be the first to admit that I'm horrible at sharing a room. I'd go for my own room in an apartment because you or your roomate might be up late doing schoolwork while one is trying to sleep, if you have a significant other over, etc. |

If you listen to some of the folks on LSD, it seems like having a roommate your first year can be a distraction. I also went to a Syrcause Law reception, and it seemed like this was the consensus opinion...On the other hand, many of these folks may probably aren't living in areas as expensive as the Philly mainline.
Personally, I think I'll go for a studio since A) I probably won't have enough furniture to fill a 1 bedroom I plan to wait until the summer to actually try to secure a place to live - Is this a bad idea? |

If I decide to have a roommate, I just won't move from my apartment in Conshy and will live with the roommate I've had for 3.5 years...because my apartment is pretty cheap ($600/mo per dude). But I am thinking that having no roommate is the way to go. It can be done pretty easily in Manayunk for a decent price, and that is where I think I am likely to end up. Conshy not exciting enough for me anymore, Main Line too expensive, and Center City too far. I know that boils down my previous analysis to a very simple set of points, but that's how it's shaking out for me (at least today).

How'd you go about getting it? I believe they run a credit check to let you get an apartment there, right? I was looking at that development, I figured I'd ask and see how you went about getting it.

It seems like people are mainly looking at areas like Bryn Mawr right around the school or Manayunk. Any reason to look for one over another, and is there enough fun to be had in areas like Bryn Mawr compared to Manayunk?
I looked at the home properties of Bryn Mawr also. Any feedback on this place for those that have seen it? |

Sorry this came so late, but I live in Radnor House and I have a good friend in Rosemont Plaza. Radnor House is really nice, 24 hour security, plenty of parking, a nice pool, and its very quiet. They won't rent to undergrads because they make too much noise. Its a lot of families, single people, and of course, law students. Washer/Dryer in the basement, but there are plenty of them, and I've never had to wait to use one. It's a condo complex, so the owner's are able to charge whatever rent they want (but that also means you might be able to talk them down $50-100).
As for Rosemont Plaza, it is also pretty nice. I don't know the rent there, but the manager is a nice woman, and from what I hear, very helpful. They have a coffee shop in the lobby, and a lot of law students live there as well. There is another place (possibly Radwyn something) on Bryn Mawr Ave, south of County Line Rd (where WaWa is) that also has decent apartments. 2 brs there go for about $1100, but they are nice, and it is quiet there. Radnor House and Rosemont Plaza are in walking distance to 3 bars, Kelly's, Gullifty's, and the Wild Onion, which is the big party bar. Good luck guys! |

I still don't have an apartment, what should I do? Just get a list of all the places I'd be interested in living in, go down with like a G and pick the best one and put in a deposit? Am I late in this process? And is there a way for Nova to give me money for the deposit so I don't have to use my own money?

Nova won't give you any money for your apt. deposit. you can't get any of your loan disbursements until agust, so for this you need to use your own money. you are not too late in the process. you just need a place by august 1st, most likely, and it really only takes like 2 weeks, max, to find an apartment in this area. it's really not that competitive of a market, like NYC. |
