July 7, 2009 We've rebooted the game, all new chars, all new plots, all new mayhem! Join up!

September - October 1570 AF: The first two weeks of September are sunny, in the middle 60s F (15-21 C) with light breezes and stronger winds in the evenings. During the second week frost begins to show in the mornings, burned off by the first sunrise. The last two weeks see overcast days with occasional sun, and frequent rains that often bloom into full blown storms. The temp drops to around 60 F (15.5 C) and stays there. Sunny mornings are foggy. Everyone knows whose roof leaks by the end of the month. Roads are muddy and rather horrible.

Weather doesn't improve into the first two weeks of October - in fact, it gets worse, and the temperature drops even further, averaging at about 45 F (7 C). It is rainy for the first week, and though the rain stops for the second week it is still overcast. After that, the weather clears up but it is still not particularly warm. Towards the end of October, there begins to be frost and fog in the mornings.

Thinking of maybe filling some of the holes we've got on the board? Want to reserver a specific type of character? Loberly! Just post below letting me know that you're going to create a character to fill a specifc role, and you've got two weeks to get a completed application up.
  • Trainees - we've got room for trainees in all of the Collegia!

  • Characters of Full Rank - yeah, they're always nice. Healers, Heralds, Bards, Mages, etc. are more than welcome. We are also missing the Speaker for the Healers and the Speaker for the Bards.

  • Nobility - since we never seem to have any, sigh. There are currently no characters who are holding seats on the Council, so if you are interested in making a Council Member/someone related to a Council Member, feel free! The Council has the following positions open:
    -Speakers for the North, South, East, and West
    -The Seneschal
    -The Lord Marshal
  • The Heraldic Circle... is missing the following members:
    -The Queen*
    -The Queen's Own*
    -The Seneschal's Herald*
    -The Lord Marshal's Herald*
    -Speaker for Heralds on Circuit
    -Speaker for Heralds with Trainees

    And for regular Heralds not a part of the Heraldic circle, we're also missing:
    -The Herald-Chronicler
    -The Weaponsmaster
    -The Dean of the Collegia
All characters, of course, are welcome. smile.gif

*Please note that these characters can only be reserved by someone who has a character here prior to making this reservation, as the roles are important to both our upcoming plots and in general. Please contact Theresa or Ker for more information.

This is a breakdown of all of the Gifts permitted at S+S, and how many of each Gift type we're going to allow. We don't want to end up with half of our characters being empaths when Empathy is supposed to be a rare mind gift, for instance, and we'd love to see some of the more "common" Gifts (at least, Gifts that are considered common in the books) actually being "common" on the board.

Before you create a Gifted character, please make sure that the Gift you're writing them with is actually available! Since we're of the "Gift-doesn't-make-the-character" mentality, if your Gift is full it shouldn't make a huge difference anyway, but it is something to keep in mind while writing your character's biography. If a Gift you wanted is full, and most of the other Gifts are full too or you absolutely-positively have to have that Gift, contact either Theresa or Ker to talk about it, and we'll figure something out (it depends on the reasons you want your character to have the Gift, etc.).

*I've pretty much assumed that all Heralds, unless otherwise stated, have at least a touch of mindspeech in order to communicate with their Companions. Characters actually included in the tally, however, are also capable of mindspeaking with people other than their Companions (so, actually projecting and actually thought sensing).
