Cosmos Government has been going over their the decisions of recent months and has come to a startling realization. Instead of helping our citizens by our decisions, we have been hurting them. Our tax rate rose to 100% with all of the funding going into the Military. Well it's time for change. The choices in the past few days have lowered the tax rate to 86% with even more tax cuts fast approaching. Cosmos President was quoted to have said "We will gladly cut some of the funding to unnecessary projects, such as our orbital gun platforms, to give our citizens a tax relief". Stay tuned for more news in the future from Cosmos Insanity.

I'm glad to see that you have your budget under control. My country has an average tax rate of 100% too (and even higher for the rich). But our military is funded mostly by bake sales so it's hard to say where the money goes. We could hire an accountant but then we'd have to raise taxes.
Oh well. The economy is good, there's a lei around every neck and a pig in the ground. |

Your decision is very wise, Cosmos Insanity. The ability to review one's own decisions and admit that they have not all been good is the first step to amending them.
My nation as well has a 100% tax rate. If nothing else, our three countries share or have shared similar economic situations. However, the tax distribution of out nations is notably different. Shangri La-La-La actually doesn't have a military and its arms industry has been shut down. Rather, our tax dollars are spend in education, social welfare, and the environment. The issue of taxation, though, is a powerful subject. The power to tax is the power to destroy, according to John Marshal in McCulloch v. Maryland. In fact, I've been inspired to write a question of the day. Stay tuned. Anyway, we commend you on your decision to help your people, Cosmos Insanity. |
