I would really like all member nations to weigh in on what they would like this region to be. Keep in mind that this shouldn't necessarily mean that it is the same vision you have for your own individual nation, but rather how a group of disparate, albeit like-minded, nations can co-exist.

This is a golden opportunity for each member to examine the real world in which we live, analyze our likes and dislikes of the peoples and governments of this world, and try to comprehensively create an idyllic version of a better place. In one respect, this can, in part, apply to your own nation, and, in a different way, to the region.

Imagination is encouraged. Thoughtful consideration is endorsed. Who knows? Unrecognized genius may result. So let the words flow. Do not fear ridicule or condemnation. That shouldn't exist here. This forum is for the sincere and honest expression of your beliefs and everyone's opinions carry equal weight.

The Preamble of the Unity should therefore become a sort of outline for the final Constitution; a summary of our collective beliefs and ideals. We need to have a multitude of ideas in order to 'cover all the bases' so to speak.

This is the beginning of my submission for the Preamble. If anyone has a better idea, please step forward and post one. Otherwise, please indicate your approval or disapproval.

Preamble
to the Constitution of the Region of
The Unity of Archipelagoes

We the Nations of the Unity of Archipelagoes, in Order to form a Greater Region within Nation States, establish above all else the Right to Self-Determination for our Member Nations, insure Regional Tranquility, provide for the common Defense, and secure the Blessings of Unity, Equality and Liberty to ourselves and our Posterior, now do Ordain and Establish this Constitution for the Unity of Archipelagoes.

Let it be Known to all other Regions and all other Nations that the Unity of Archipelagoes defends with Great Vigor the right of each of its Member Nations to govern themselves as they so choose. No other Nation may impose its Beliefs or Philosophies upon another in any other way, Except by Example. The Sovereignty of each Nation is Sacrosanct.

Let it be Known to all other Regions and all other Nations that the Unity of Archipelagoes, made up of many different Kinds of Peoples and many different Forms of Government, do hereby resolve to Respect and Defend each Member Nation and all Others that seek to Establish here. By Virtue of the Fact that each Nation is an Island, and the Declared Will of our Member Nations that all Waters outside of a One Mile Limit are Neutral, it is Inconceivable that Aggression of any kind should occur. Therefore Regional Tranquility is a natural byproduct of our Geographical Barriers, as it is also the Desire of our Member Nations.

Let it be further Resolved that the creation and implementation of Our Constitution shall define the Offices of the Region, establish a Senate to create the Laws of the Region, establish a Judiciary to enforce the Laws of the Region and otherwise define the Rights and Privileges of its Member Nations. Divisions of Power and Checks and Balances to ensure Regional Tranquility will be secured in its creation.

Let it be further Resolved that the Laws of the Region will all pertain to maintaining the Peace and ensuring the Unanimous Equality of all of its Citizens in all matters outside the Sovereignty of each Member Nation. To this end the Senate of the Region must duly Respect the Sovereignty of the Member Nations and Endeavor to Debate at great length the Total Consequences of each Law.

We should put that all members of each country are equal or something.

Good points, T. I'll attempt to clarify and/or include them. This is still a work in progress as far as I'm concerned. I wish more people would add their voice(s).
