This thread is here to help the not-so-sure members what we expect here. It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with it!
Definitions
Third Person This means we want you to type as if you're watching the scenario with your character in a movie. Don't use "I" statements, use "He" or "She", and use his name.
Past Tense This means we want you to type it as if it's already happened. This is because most novels are scripted this way, and it reads better to the other users.
Loose Tense This means that not every word has to be placed in past tense. This gets very hard to reorganize a sentence to be past tense, so loose tense is okay.
Word Use We'd like you to mind your p's and q's!
Examples
Third Person Jamie stepped carefully past the broken glass around his feet, his hair sweeping back and forth.
Past Tense Jamie stepped carefully past the broken glass around his feet, his hair sweeping back and forth.
Loose Tense Jamie stepped carefully past the broken glass around his feet, his hair sweeping back and forth.
Word Use Their, There, and Their; To and Too; Its and It's; Your and You're; other common mistakes.
