600 BC, the scroll fell from the sky. We were in the middle of a war with Israel; we'd upset the gods. We knew that our petty fights would cause their wrath, but we had no idea what we'd brought upon ourselves. The High Priest called a cease-fire, and read the god-sent scroll to us....
"Under steady hand and bloodbathed sands we rule and conquer the servants of we; they who slay their blood and thine own kin in the name of war. We shalt hold them to our standards lest they squabble once more, lest they destroy themselves. Thus we control them, despite hatred of our own...scribe this on thy walls and thy hearts; the morrow, we come; the morrow we change thy path."
And come, they did. The entirety of Egypt changed; the face of Africa changed as the country expanded in the name of peace. They formed a domination over us; our gods came to straighten our maddening war-mongerous path against Israel. Apophis took one half and Ra the other, both set with 6 gods to watch their various kingdoms. They formed a table to govern us, each of our heads responsible to their gods, and them to their commanding god. The two despise each other, and it sets worry in our hearts. For now there is peace, but tension is clear. We chose our gods and our lands, and in twelve kingdoms of Egypt we live; free to roam and visit the other kingdoms - but, for how long will this peace last?
They took on human form, but gained immense powers as to stop us from questioning their rule...
