XPUG Style Pump Day, Pump day idea

What do you think about doing an xpug style pump day??? Get all the names, put them in a hat, and create 3,4, or 5 man teams at random for a mini-tourny for fun?? If lots of people turn out, it can be a 7 man. Cost of it would be the normal entry fee + an oddball white elephant gift that is an unused piece of junk from the gearbox (such as a cocker front block/shroud, stock barrels, old steel braided hose, etc..nothing that you have to go out and buy). Winning team takes all. Some sorting could be done to make sure no single team is stacked. Late comers go into existing teams, increasing the size of the individual teams. This could be done from 10-12, then onto regular games after lunch.

We did this at Splat Indoor about 3 years ago and it was really a fun time for all.

And it lets me get rid of some of my old junk like a ccm pump handle, Dye Airport (Ryan, free if you want it), and other odds and ends that someone else might find useful. I built a functional mech cocker from my junk bin this weekend, so I have stuff that others may find handy.

He was talking about wanting to do one again. My friends in the AZ pump world have had a couple of lottery 3 man tourneys for fun in the a.m., then in the p.m. they go and rec ball. Something to thing about. You can call it the TPG Scramble.

This sounds like a lot of fun! It's a nice way to mix it up and get to know people.

I like it. And the TPG Scramble is a catchy name for it.

I've been contemplating running another X-Pug for the past few months. Things have been too busy to do it properly, though. If you guys have a solid date for your next pump day, I'm sure we can work something out to integrate X-Pug into your deal. I'll need as much lead time as possible, though. I know there are at least a couple of sponsors interested in contributing to this and I don't want it to fizzle out at the first event.

Manny, feel free to email/call me to hammer out any details. If it's too much to do within the timeframe, feel free to run the format under another name.

This will most likely be in January 2010. Either the 1st or 2nd Sunday of the new year.
