Title: VPBL - Velocity PaintBall League, Ramona
Description: SanDiego - 3-man Tourney Series
Ryan - January 18, 2009 05:22 PM (GMT)
For those of you who haven't heard of this, the general idea is that it's a 6 week long deal with you playing one game every week on Sunday. 3 man teams with a roster max of 7. Entry is $75 and that covers all 6 weeks.
Go here for more detailsSo is anyone interested in this?

It sounds pretty interesting. Specially since they mix woodsball with speedball fields.
I'd kinda like to do it, but i'm wary of making a six week commitment.
The Pin-Up - January 19, 2009 04:18 AM (GMT)
interesting i wonder how they came up with that concept
Deaffy - January 19, 2009 06:03 PM (GMT)
Sounds like an interesting experience.
Count me in.

Southern California's first ever month long paintball league.
Velocity Paintball League is an opportunity for players to play competitively every weekend at very little cost. It is a 6 week commitment much like softball and bowling leagues. You can sign up as a team or an individual.
Teams are chosen from the registrants based on skill level and past tournament play. Only one player who has played D3 or higher (PSP, and the former XPSL, NPPL and the newly formed AFTS) will be allowed on a team. Team tournament draw is random and the schedule is set based on team draw. First draw is assigned A, second draw is assigned B and so on…
The teams are set in two brackets. Bracket 1 consist of teams A-F and Bracket 2 are teams G-L. There is a 12 team limit with a maximum of 7 players on a team. Games are 3-player center flag. Individual players are charged $75 to cover admission, t-shirts, flags, referees and all day air on event days.
Play will be a best of three games match. Players will be allowed 1 full standard hopper and 2 full 140 round pods for each game. The top two teams in each bracket after the fifth week will advance to the final round on the sixth week and play on a field randomly chosen from the fields played in the preliminary weeks. Each team will play each other twice and top score gets first place. The top 4 teams will be awarded prizes. First place will get a FREE entry to the next league play.
This is an example of the first week of play;
Week One Sunday March 1st, 2009 Playing Field 1
* 10AM A vs. B
* 11AM C vs. D
* 12PM E vs. F
* 1PM G vs. H
* 2PM I vs. J
* 3PM K vs. L
. There will be more information soon

Sounds similar to the So.Cal pump Leagues I've seen being discussed on several forums. I don't know if those have actually taken off yet though but that Idea was brought up last year. I wonder if that's where Velocity came up with it?
I like the idea- Victor you don't have to worry about the commitment as the team can have a 7-man Roster. Meaning Differant players every week if necessary. I know how hard it is for you to commit seriously to events.
Denise asked me if we were gonna do this - I said we hadn't discussed it yet. Maybe we can have a small face to face this weekend as we are all attending several events this weekend Sunday being a larger TPG group. My main concern at this moment is that one weekend will conflict with the OSC LV event. I'm sure not all of TPG will be able to make LV but will they be able to make the League- I'd hate to have to forfit at all.

I'm interested in doing this as well. I may not be able to make at least two of the six events: the first and maybe one of them in the middle. I won't be able to make the Vegas event, so I could be one of the players to stay behind and play that weekend.
Deaffy - January 29, 2009 09:14 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I can stay behind and fill in spots for people in this event. I live right by the park and have no life other than paintball and my worthless vehicles.

Well, I figure if we plan on sporting TPG shirts, logically, it should be pump, but that's just imo.

Yeah, and i agree with you on that point. It just makes sense to rock the pumps.
BUT, i also just feel like playing semi in this one.
But i'm flexible.
Deaffy - January 30, 2009 07:43 AM (GMT)
Well, all I have atm is my pump, so I'll be rocking that.
But I'm sure it's no big deal. I would just bring the pump also and play a match or two pump, and the rest semi. As long as you represent "the cause" lol
mxmtl - January 30, 2009 06:42 PM (GMT)
I too thought about rocking semi for the tournament depending on the field setup for the day, but I don't know if it would feel right to shoot anything other than a pump. For example, if it's on a woods field, I would be more incline to take out the semi to cut through brush.
Although at VSS 07, I was quite shocked when going up against you guys and someone on your team was firing a semi at me at a very high ROF on one of the games. I was definitely not expecting that. How did you guys come to that decision?
Demonio - January 31, 2009 04:32 AM (GMT)
That must have been either #3 or #4 - we kinda said WTF.
I know at #4 I got angry at being stitched up by Los Bandidos even after I called myself out. I busted out my E-tach and nobody was safe after I did that. I'm pretty sure my anger was still showing when we obliterated you guys on Small Hype - that was the game I ended up with the flag and hang. I sorta miss that gun but Oh wellz - I'm more comfortable with my pumps
Deaffy - January 31, 2009 10:00 AM (GMT)
I had an e tech cocker, best semi evar!!!
Demonio - January 31, 2009 04:57 PM (GMT)
E-Tach - Automag even better :nana:
Demonio - February 3, 2009 07:04 AM (GMT)
Can anybody truly interested in this PM Ryan or Myself so we can see what all we have. Also please mark down what date you Will NOT be available. Lets us know what we have to work with if TPG jumps into this.
victor13 - February 13, 2009 02:18 AM (GMT)
So what's up with this?
I forgot to PM you or ryan, but i'm down. I should be able to make most, if not all, the events.
Demonio - February 13, 2009 06:28 AM (GMT)
I'll have to check my pm's and see who else was TRULY interested - Seeing as our usual tourney 3 will be out on the same weekend (mar 21-22) that makes it tough
