So What Do We Know About Emberlain?

Since Scott has said in a couple of online interviews that Unnamed Locke Book IV is going to be set in Emberlain after Republic of Thieves is in Karthain, I was wondering, what have we been told about Emberlain and the Kingdom of the Seven Marrows? Off the top of my head and a quick look at the books,
  • Emberlain is a Canton - one of the mini states that makes up the Kingdom - in the Kingdom of the Seven Marrows
  • The Kingdom of the Seven Marrows is crossed by seven of the greatest rivers that flow into the northern sea, the Seven Marrows
  • The paths of the Seven Marrows divide up the The Kingdom of the Seven Marrows into its individual Cantons
  • The Vadrans, the race of people that live in the Kingdom, are much more formal and straightlaced than the Camorri
  • The Vadrans apparently worship water and the Seven Marrowa rivers in particular
  • Emberlain is ruled by the Graf von Emberlain - Graf being a real life historical German noble title equal in rank to a count
  • There's also such a title/position as Liege-Graf
  • The Graf apparently has his own private army and navy
  • Parlay is apparently one of the other Cantons
  • Samnay is also apparently another Canton
  • Emberlain's banks and merchant houses do four times the yearly business of the next richest canton in the Marrows
  • At the times of Lies the Kingdom of the Seven Marrows was "coming apart at the seams"
  • There have been three invasions of Emberlain in the past two hundred and fifty years
  • Locke says that "the succession rites of the Kingdom of the Marrows always involve armies and blood before they involve blessings and banquets" and "When the Grafs quarrel" so Kingship of the Seven Marrows or rule of the individual Cantons is apparently usually settled on the battlefield
  • There are apparently powerful Trade Guilds that regulate trade practices and how commerce is carried out
  • It's home of the House of bel Auster and their vineyards that produce Astershalin Brandy
  • The Stradas, Dvorims, Razuls and the Strigs are apparently influential and powerful local families
  • Emberlain is surrounded on two sides by the sea with the Austershalin mountains as a landward barrier
  • Pure speculation on my part but since it's called the Kingdom of the Seven Marrows I'm guessing that there's an overall King (supposedly at least) in charge over all the Cantons as a whole, although their control over the country could fluctuate with how powerful individual local Grafs/Cantons are

I'm sure that there's more but that's all I can think of at this time of night. smile.gif So what can other people remember/find about Emberlain and the Kingdom?

From the general things we seem to know about it already what with the Grafs/Counts and Cantons/Counties that seem to have a fair amount of local power/control - what with their having their own armies and fighting for succession rights - and that make up a kind of loose Kingdom is does strike me that it sounds a lot like the old real life Holy Roman Empire. IIRC didn't Scott say that the more northern races he based more on the Central and Northern cultures from our world whilst the Camorri were more Italian/Spanish/Greek based?
