The roof!
The roof!
The roof is on fire!!

Yesterday night, at 10:27 pm, part of my house caught on fire.

My mom was lying in bed and had turned the gas stove on in her bedroom to warm it up. She had left a candle on top of it, resting on a plastic plate that she thought was glass.
I don't know what happened, I was upstairs in my room with my boyf Kody when mom started yelling my name.

I just thought it was a bat or another starling (that noisy bird) that had come in through the stove and she needed help catching it.

The next thing I know, when I go downstairs and into their bedroom, the curtains are aflame.

Kody's standing right next to me and mom is in front of the fire trying to put it out with a couple of towels.

"Oh god! What do I do?!" I had shouted.
Mom said "I don't know!!!"

So I ran back into the kitchen and grabbed the juice bucket we usually make kool-aid in and tried to fill it up with water. It took too long.
I was shaking so much I could barely keep it under the faucet.

The other buckets were missing so mine was really the only water source to dump on it, Kody opened up the windows so we wouldn't suffocate from the smoke while we still attempted to save our house.
Then we called for help, but help was 20 minutes away if they went fast, but they have to slow to not crash going through the twisty curves up the hill to our road. So there is 35 minute wait at least.

Now half of my house is missing and I'm at my granma's house, getting on the computer to hide the fact that everything is not a-ok.

And this will be the only place where I tell, and where no one will read it, so I can go on to af.net and pretend it's the same old me it was two days ago instead of the one who is worried her parents will have to work two or three jobs in order to fix the house so we can have a place to live again, and not have to mooch off of granma like we have to do with clothes and everything else.

Wow. Nex time if that happens, you should try throwing salt or baking soda at the fire to keep it down. A fire blanket works too.

What Jen said. I mean, what happened to you was truly terrible, obviously, but if you think about it, you could be a lot worse off than you are now. Still, it's good to know that you're alright.

Yikes...

I'm not gonna say "Oh you're so lucky!" or "it will be alright!"

But I promise I'll keep you in my prayers.

Though thank God you're alive. That's a blessing in itself.
