Return with another, Back from Seven Corners, much work ahead

Ghost Storm bounded into camp like a puppy to his mother. He hadn't realized how alien he had felt being away from his territory till he had returned. With a deep sigh of relief he turned to his companion.

"Well this is the plains. You've seen very little but for now, make yourself at home." Ghost Storm was rather unsure if the wolf really planned on staying with him. Outright asking seemed dumb while not seemed weak, yet, despite his role as alpha, Ghost Storm felt no need to display just the right amount of power around this wolf even if he barely knew him. Out of exhaustion, excitement, comfort, hunger, happiness and a slew of other emotions Ghost Storm simply decided to say "Pick any den except the one under and behind the great rock."

As he waited for a response and realized he had forgotten the wolf's name and decided to contemplate on how to find it out.

As they approached the camp, Ghoststorm picked up speed, clearly elated. This left Nietzche quite a bit behind, as Ghost turned to explain, Nietzche took the time to take stock of his new home. It seemed a pleasant enough place, plenty of dens to choose from. He noted a few spots that looked promising, then set about investigating each, rolling around and testing them out. Eventually, he settled upon one not too far from Ghoststorms under the great rock.

He looked around for the other wolf, wanting to ask what the schedule was to be.

Ghost Storm happily inspected camp to make sure that no one had been there in the time he had been gone. There were no foreign scents, though he noticed that prey had started to avoid the camp due to his own scent. He checked the dens that Nietzche did not and strolled around camp. So much to do, and no idea where to start. Ghost Storm decided to prioritize what had to be done for he still wasn't sure whether some of his plans were possible.

First came to first he supposed... "Are you hungry?"

"Yes indeed, also tired but I suppose that can wait. What all is there to do to start making this camp a decent home?" Nietzche hadn't run so far in many seasons and was looking forward to a nice meal before what he assumed would be a nice long rest. Of course, it was time to go hunting, one of the activities he treasured. Lots of thinking, lots of waiting and lots of long days. With the two wolves, it was going to be a bit easier then it had been on his own, but Nietzche was ok with the lessened difficulty.

"Normally I would insist that we hunt far away from camp... the creatures of the plains aren't used to wolves anymore and almost walk into your paws..." Ghost Storm paused, contemplating whether he should avoid the long explanation or not. "I don't want outside wolves to find hunting in the plains easy so I want to make hunt around the perimeter of plains before hunting close to camp... if that makes sense...?" He said pausing. It was a question but really he just wanted to make sure that Nietzche understood why he wanted to hunt away from camp. "Under the present mood, it is fine to hunt close to camp, there is a lot to do, no time to dilly-dally with formalities... don't you think?"

As an alpha he felt he should be more commanding but Ghost Storm hadn't had a companion in years and he realized, while scolding not choosing his words carefully, that he wanted a friend more then anything and gave way to a smile.

Nietzche returned the pack leader's smile.

"I get it, don't want to make the plains too attractive to other wolves. Its not like we could really stop an invasion with only the two of us" At this, Nietzche chuckled at the notion of him fighting a large number of enemies. "I agree, we can start hunting the outskirts of the territory tomorrow, I am sure there is plenty of game nearby right now, and in the time we save not traveling out, you can tell me a bit about yourself and what I need to know about living here before I settle in, eh?"

Nietzche tried to recall the last time he had lived in another wolves company, had it really been so long? Oh well, this was to be a unique experience, he was sure of that.

Ghost Storm nodded, thinking about how to begin.

"I think I should tell you my plans for the camp before I tell you about myself, it is weighing on my a tad." He explained.

Prey was easy to find close to camp for the tall grass reads were littered with animals enjoying the new spring weather. None of the prey, however, was holding even slightly still. Ghost Storm wanted to find a large morsel today, for he'd eaten very little over the past couple of days and had been up all night. He sat down once a short ways from camp and lamented as a shrew crawled across his paws. "See what I mean? These creature's have no idea what a wolf is..."

He waited patiently for a larger prey and silently raised to his haunches upon seeing a group of hairs through the grass.

Dashing forward he caught the creature in its tracks, grabbing it around the neck and herding the others away from their warren towards Nietzche. He hadn't warned his companion of his actions due to the nature of his quarry's hearing but he trusted Nietzche to make use of the trap.

Nietzsche was astounded at the animal's lack of fear. He was going to have to work hard to avoid gaining too much weight with this many snacks so readily available! As his friend commented on the situation, he began questioning what the world would be like without the presence of wolfkind. Nietzsche began to get lost in thought of hypothetical worlds, at least until Ghost Storm went flying out of the brush. Oh well, it was time to get something filling to eat.

Coming rushing out of the brush, Nietzsche quickly picked up on the trap, cutting the hares off quite sharply. In their confusion, the black wolf slipped his jaws 'round the neck of a hare. Still surrounded by the turning prey, he decided to try something a little... unconventional. Tossing his legless shoulder at a nearby hare, Nietzsche rolled onto his back, trapping the tiny animal beneath him. As it struggled for breath, Nietzsche couldn't help but think that he might have been showing off a little for his new compatriot.

Ghost Storm smiled praisingly at the strange tactics of his friend. He must have learned strange things when dealing with the lack of a limb. Ghost Storm closed his mouth quickly, cracking the neck of the struggling creature, which immediately went limp. The alpha calmly walked over to his splayed compatriot and dropped his hair on the ground so that he could quickly snap the neck of pinned rabbit before it struggled free.

Ghost Storm nodded to Nietzche, indicating that he could get up. "Do you hunt with others often?" Ghost Storm commented. That technique would not have worked alone because the quarry couldn't be killed by the captor nor could the captor move without freeing it. Another wolf was obviously needed, and one you trusted for you showed your underbelly in its execution.

Curiosity didn't outweigh the alpha's hunger, which was now intense, so Ghost Storm sat in place and began to consume the prey he'd caught originally.

Ghost Storm nudged the other prey to his silent compatriot, indicating that it was alright to eat it. He knew little of pack formalities but he felt that waiting till the alpha was full could wait till the Plains had an actual pack. There was so much to do and very little time. Ghost Storm could not decide between getting his strength with rest or going strait to his tasks at hand. Nor could he decide whether to include his companion in the camp work or send him out on patrol to make sure the rogues hadn't been in the land and to lean the area. He sat pondering his to do list while waiting for Nietzsche to explain his strange hunting technique.

After an intense period of though, Nietzsche decided how to best explain the maneuver. "It seems that after all the time I spent alone, wandering, my mind has had plenty of time with which to consider a multitude of possible hunting methods. I simply saw the opportunity to expand our catch and 'lept', so to speak. In truth, I haven't hunted with another wolf within recent memory. I think my mind is better for it, it has been forced to replace what I would normally be able to do with a fourth leg instead with careful tactics."

He then set at eating the rabbit with great mirth upon his face. Barely concerned, was he, about the small nature of their pack. Nietzsche was sure that it would fill in due time, and in the interim, he had a plenty nice companion and plenty of prey. What more could one wolf want?

Ghost Storm nodded thoughtfully at Nietzsche. Those different tactics could be quite helpful to the pack. If they knew many different ways to aproach a problem, they'd have the advantage. For now, however, Ghost Storm needed think about keeping the current pack safe.

"So, rather then making all the decisions for myself, I would like to have your opinion on something," Ghost storm stated thoughtfully. "I want to have a better defense against the rogues then the hope that they'll get lost so I was thinking about burrowing out a tunnel under camp and making an escape root. There are other things to do to, however, and I was wondering, for example, if you wanted to patrol the plains to make sure the rogues haven't been here and to also get a feel for the place, and last I am rather concerned about when I should sleep... I haven't for two days."

He looked at Nietzsche laughing slightly at the last option and hoping for his opinion. He was too tired to figure out priorities at the moment for he felt that all options were a productive use of time. Now that he was in camp, he also didn't feel the impending doom of the rogues as he had in the clearing, though it did nag at him.
