The Wolves
A howl splits the night, and from the mist rises a new generation in which wolves reign supreme. The elements have split the land into seven - seven regimes of which could only be controlled by the finest and most powerful of animals. It is time for the wolves to thrive in their world of alliances, danger, and excitement, as well as periods of peace and serenity.
The lands of many climates all whisper your name . . .
Will you heed the call of The Packs of the legends?

With the idea of catching a bit of prey for the pile, Ghost storm headed out into the open fields his still unfamiliar territory. He planned on memorizing ever blade of grass in his new land, knowing the best hunting grounds, knowing the best places for battle, the worst, the high ground and the low. He planned on scouring his land till his sent was everywhere even without him having left a mark. But he had to start somewhere and for now he decided to go for a quick hunt. Maybe stay the night in the field so that he could spend all day roaming... but he doubted that.
For now he walked, rather slowly, sniffing out every burrow , ears perked for a sound other then the hush of the wind through the blades of grass. He noticed deep clouds hovering in the distance, glaring down menacingly at the speck of dark wolf that was Ghost storm many miles below. He looked up at the dark floating lakes of water just waiting to come down. Realizing that he also needed to get grass for his den while out he sighed. In annoyance he glared up at the skies and raised his hackles at the menacing clouds before continuing forward.
Ghost storm began to trot forward smelling the air for prey. At that second a rabbit dashed over his paws. In a second the alpha had pinned the animal and the squirming creature died of shock before he could touch it. "Poor creatures probably forgot what wolves were..." he said, staring blankly down at the limp form.
Rather disheartened by the situation he decided to explore only slightly more before turning back to camp. Though he did make sure to pick out a different rout home and to gather grass from a ways away from camp as to avoid destroying any cover.
However disheartened... he still managed to dillydally back...

( Depressing, much? I'll just post here rather than make a new topic.) Saberian halted on the edge of the Plains, his keen nose alert. He smelled a powerful male had been here, and recently. Briefly glancing back at Shady, Saberain tilted his head back and howled, pure and clear, into the quiet afternoon air. He felt certain that the wolf he scented had claimed the Plains, considering how much scent he was leaving over the place.

Saberian then smiled slightly, answering, "Why, yes. I suppose we are from Forest. Considering, after all, that we are currently sitting on the Forest side of the border."
Saberain beheld the other Alpha quickly. He seemed alone, but strong, and aparently clever if he also realized he was upwind. Saberian had been wondering why the scent had briefly dissapitated.
"I am Saberain", he introduced, "and this is Shady." Glancing briefly back at the she-wolf, Saberian also added, "The Forest wolves bring tidings of peace and welcome. We were unsure how many packs had been formed yet, and were making our way to every one of them to initiate ourselves to the Alpha." Cautiously but with an air of great calm, the Alpha added, "We are but two. Do I have the right of asking how many in number the Plains are?" Saberain had the intention of bringing enough of a gift to please the members of the packs, so a quick survey had to be in order.
However, he knew that the query was a dangerous one. Should the other Alpha take it as a sign of aggression, Saberain and Shady might be attacked. But in a two-against-one struggle he very much doubted their loss.

(I was reading our old posts, and Plains pack had around twenty wolves at one time! It was the most populated under Elizabeth's alpha, Celestra.) Saberain respected the lone Alpha's proud admittance to his own nonexistant pack. And, in truth, Saberain could think of nothing to say on that approach in return - for a few days ago, was it not he who was the single Alpha?
Saberain nodded. "We scented more on our way up to the Plains," he told the wolf, whose name had not yet been stated. "Apparently, around four or five of the other climatic natural territories have already been claimed, be we are not sure yet. That's partly what our little quest was sent to find out."
The Forest leader dipped his head respectfully. "Thank you for your time," he said briskly. "We will go now." Swishing his tail for Shady to follow, Saberain led the way along the border towards the Tundra, careful not to stray within many lengths of Plains territory. On his way out he felt sorry for the loneliness of the solitary Alpha. The great sable wolf knew only too well in his long life how terrible the wilderness was when you were on your own.
Stray thoughts of his old pack and mate crept up in his mind, but like Nightshade many, many leagues away, the alpha used the force of his will to push them back. He had Shady now, and was leader of what will be a great pack. No need to dwell on the past.
Thinking such thoughts, Saberian had much more success in soothing his own mind than the black wolf on the Deserted Mountain.

Saberain paused in his tracks deeper into the quiet forest, the howl of the lone Plains alpha deepening into his heart as it faded into the night. It was a howl of strength, of luck. Suddenly the Forest alpha realized he could wait no longer. As the Plains border disapeared behind the crest of trees they had now broken, Saberian turned to the she-wolf at his side.
"Shady," he said, wind ruffling his fur in a strangely chill but strengthening manner, "It is time." He looked up and indicated with his nose. The moon, shining brightly above his sable head, was full and casting its unobscured rays over the glistening forest. They hadn't noticed it before - probably because of the dark clouds that had rolled off the Desert border.
Saberian turned in a quick, fluid motion. They bore no gifts as they had planned. Their pack was only two in number. He didn't even know how he knew - just some deep instinct, a tugging at his heart, perhaps - that the full moon marked a gathering of wolves. A gathering at the Seven Corners meadow.
With Shady by his side, the Forest alpha completed his turn and raced towards the joint of territories. (Next post will be there. )
