SPECIFICS:
((Newest info will be stated in the update post))
1. General Posting1.1 Please do not ask to become a staff member. If we are looking for staff members, we will notify you and pick from the most dedicated members.
1.2 No advertising in your signature or avatar unless you have twenty posts. This helps us make sure you're here to roleplay, not just spread the word of your site. Unearned advertisements will be deleted.
1.3 You cannot advertise in the Advertisements forum until you have fifty posts. It is a priviledge to get your own topic.
1.4 You cannot advertise your site by PMing members or emailing them. That is considered spamming, which is not allowed also, unless placed in the OOC forum portion of this site.
1.5 Any mentioning of rape, or any similar or related act of sexual violence, will not be tolerated. For consequences of this action, look to consequences thread.
1.6 These rules are subject to change at any time. All changes will be accompanied by a notice. Staff members may make judgements against the rules if a situation arises that makes it necessary to do so.
1.6.1 Do not try to find loopholes in the rules for personal gain. A staff member's word is more solid than these rules. If you would like to point out a loophole in order to help the site, please do so through PM.
2. Registering2.1 Every member that signs up MUST register as the name they intend to use for their character. If a member fails to do so, we will automatically change his/her name and send him/her an e-mail. The name may be the real name, nickname, or codename of your character.
2.1.1 For this rule, if you signed up as something like "joey92" but created a character named "John", your member name will be changed to "John" as well.
2.1.2 You are not allowed to sign up with a rank in your name. So "General John" would be changed to "John", since ranks change all the time. There is only one acception with the rank of Darth.
2.2 Each member can have as many characters as they can handle. You CANNOT have more than one character per account. Each account is intended for one character only, with the exception of RPG Admin because that account is specifically made for NPCs and other non-member relations.
2.2.1 Unlimited characters is a priviledge, not a gift. Use it wisely. If one of your characters is inactive for over a month, you will get ONE notice. A week after, if there's still no activity, the character will be deleted.
3. Starting Out3.1 When you post your bio, you MUST wait until your bio is placed into the Accepted Bios forum until you start role-playing.
3.2 When making your Character Bio, you may start with ONE type of clothing/armor, TWO weapons, and ONE ship smaller than 50 meters in length. This means no capital-class ships. Freighters and transports are the largest ships allowed. Everything else must be bought in the RP.
4. Roleplaying4.1 Please do not power-play. This means affecting another character through your post without their permission. To avoid this, try saying only what your character does, and allow the other character to respond.
Good Example: Bob was running from Bill. Bob sent a Force Push toward Bill, trying to get a better lead.
Bad Example: Bob was running from Bill. Bob Force Pushed Bill far away from him and into a shaft, causing Bill to lose him.
4.2 If you wish to roleplay more mature topics such as sex, extreme violence, or other things of the sort, please place [NC-17] before the topic title or before a post, so as to be courteous to other members who do not wish to read such things.
4.3 Roleplay with a purpose. Don't just interrupt a roleplay with something completely off-topic or irrelevant. We encourage posting open topics for people to join, but make sure you're not just posting to look "cool."
4.4 At
The Old Republic, we encourage you to make your roleplays no less than 50 words per post. This makes it easier to respond to your character, and overall makes you more fun to roleplay with.
4.5 Please do not double-post outside the OOC section of the forum. Allow others to join your topic, even if it's just one other person. If you feel that a topic is necessary to only have you, PM a staff member and we'll let you know if it's okay.
4.6 If you learn something OOC about another group/person/etc., you CANNOT use it IC unless given permission by the info target. OOC info and IC info are not to be abused.
5. Roleplaying Features/Extras5.1 Money System5.1.1 Every member starts out with 500 Star Wars Credits, and gains 500 weekly. You can see your current total on any of your posts beneath the info underneath your avatar.
5.1.1.1 Weekly wages and payments are handled automatically by the staff. Only if you make a transaction or you steal money from another player do you have to report it to the staff to handle it.
5.1.2 Your money is not safe if you do not have a bank account. Located near the bottom of the forums is the Galactic Bank. For a weekly fee, you will have 50% protection on your funds. If you die, you might only lose half your money rather than all of it.
5.1.2.1 If you do not have enough money to make your payments, you will either receive an IC warning or you will lose your priviledges.
5.1.3 Money can be earned in other ways as well. These include selling your own items, collecting on bounties, or completing general/faction jobs. All of these methods are typically done in the Holonet.
5.1.4 All items you buy have a warranty on them (listed in the store's inventory post). With the warranty, you may bring the weapon back in exchange for the amount you paid, but only from the store you bought it from. If the warranty expires, you may abandon the item, destroy it, or sell it in the Holonet.
5.2 "Did I..." Posts5.2.1 A "Did I..." post is a special kind of roleplay post that requires staff involvement. "Did I" posts are required only for major events that directly affect another character or their belongings, a planet, a structure, etc. This includes, but is not limited to: killing, warpower, demolition, and armada destruction.
EX. "Did I kill him?", "Did I destroy the first fighter squadron?", "Did I successfully explode the building?", "Did the fleet cause significant damage?"
5.2.2 Staff will decide a verdict depending on who made more interesting and convincing posts. After there has been five posts in a topic, a "Did I" post may be made.
5.2.2.1 If you are, or are in control of the victim of the "Did I", you may make one defense post after the first "Did I", ending with something like "Did I have a successful defense?" This defense post is not required, but recommended. There is a two-day maximum to make a defense post before a decision is posted.
5.2.2.2 The winner of the "Did I" is determined both by quality and quantity. The more posts you make before a "Did I", and the more descriptive and realistic your posts are, the more likely you are to succeed. Once decided, the staff will reply with the verdict.
5.2.2.3 Whoever loses the "Did I" gets the right-of-way to make the first reaction post where their character, or whatever has been affected, reacts to the "Did I", unless the loser has died or left the topic from the result.
5.2.2.4 After the first five posts, "Did I"s can be made at any time, even by newcomers to the topic. Do take note: If you make a "Did I" in one post, it will most likely fail. The more descriptive you are, the more you post about a "Did I" before actually making it, and the realism of the "Did I" occurring will all aid in your success.
5.2.3 If you are in a relatively closed topic, then only the defense post may come after a "Did I" before a verdict is reached. If the topic is open with many different plots going on at once, then you may only post after the "Did I" if you have absolutely nothing to do with it or the members in it, or it is the defense post.
5.2.4 If you are caught in a battle inside a topic, you may not leave until a "Did I" is made. After the five post minimum, you may make a "Did I get away?" post. Otherwise, you can defend yourself and hope the other player makes an unsuccessful "Did I".
5.2.4.1 Once a "Did I" is made, you are no longer bound by the topic and may leave, as long as you post your leaving. It is very important you post that you left. See next rule.
5.2.4.2 As long as you were in the topic when a situation arose, you are bound to the topic until a "Did I" is made, Should you choose not to reply, you have a 10-day layaway. If after 10 days you have still not replied, you automatically lose the situation, which may result in your death. If you have posted that you are Away in the Away forum, the 10-days will not be counted until you return.
5.2.4.3 If there is a topic that you have not posted in, that is inviting you to join a conflict, you do NOT have to join, and it will not count against you. The 10-day layaway only counts if you were involved with the topic, or joined the topic, during the situation, and you are directly involved.
5.3 Death5.3.1 If you are a victim of foul play and are killed, not to worry. You are automatically cloned. The cloning is free with an account at the bank, or 100 credits if you do not have a bank account, paid from the next weekly wage. Either way, you do not have to post the cloning or get permission, it happens immediately.
5.3.2 Once you die, you cannot return to the same topic in which you died. People don't die and then come back cloned a few posts later. However, you can continue roleplaying in other threads your character is in, as long as they haven't died there.
5.4 Stealing From Others5.4.1 When you kill another player, you are open to taking whatever items they were carrying. You can only have a certain amount of weapons on you at all times [See 6. Items/Weapons]. Therefore, you can only take items that you can physically carry.
5.4.1.1 Taking credits from a dead player is slightly different. If the deceased does not have a bank account, you can take ALL their credits. If they do have an account, you may only take half.
5.4.1.2 You may also take any droids that still have the ODDS chip installed.
5.4.2 Once you've killed someone, you must make a post immediately saying what you wish to take. You must say everything, including the amount of credits, that you are taking. Note that you need to be able to carry the items in order to take them. If you do not say an item, then you did not take it.
5.4.2.1 There are some items that you cannot just take after you kill someone. You may only take a ship if you are on your Current Homeplanet or a planet under your faction's control, or if you have a droid with a Piloting Interface installed. You may not take any items that involve other characters, and you may not take any items belonging to the faction. You can attempt to steal these items, but that requires another "Did I".
5.4.2.2 You may not take droids that have the ODDS chip removed. You also cannot just take any pets. Only Force Sensitives can try to take a pet, but that requires a "Did I" using Force Beast Control.
6. Items/Weapons6.1 Character Inventory dropdown lists are required for all members. These are added to your signature when your bio is accepted. Do not remove them, but feel free to edit and customize them
6.1.1 Your Character Inventory is a list of what you are carrying on-hand. This means weapons, droids, and ships currently in use. If you have other items in the bank, do not include them in the drop-down.
6.1.1.1 You may carry extra items without putting them in the bank as long as you have your own personal ship. In the dropdown, you must state which weapons you are carrying, and which ones are on your ship.
6.1.1.2 Your on-hand weapons and weapons in your ship can only be changed by RPing. It takes two (2) posts to change them in RP, one to go to the ship, one to change them. Inventory limits still apply.
6.1.1.3 Even if you have weapons on your ship, they can still be stolen by a killer. Only the bank can protect your weapons from theft.
6.1.2 All characters have a limit to how much they can carry at any time. Refer to the
[Inventory Limits] topic to see what you are able to carry.
6.2 Inside the Galactic Bank, you may purchase a lockbox/garage combo, for an extra weekly fee. With these, you may store items and extra ships. Unlike credits, if you are killed, all items/ships inside the bank CANNOT be stolen.
6.2.1 You cannot use any items that you do not own, or that you do not have on-hand.
6.3 If an NPC does not have a bio in the NPC Bios forum, then they may be played by any member, and killed without a "Did I". This does not include purchased droids or pets.
6.4 No items, droids, or ships can have any modifications on them when you sign up. They must be bought.
7. Powers7.1 If you use Force Persuasion on any PC character, then all of the Admins available at the current time will take into consideration RPing skills, and how reasonable the persuasion is, much like a "Did I".
EX. Something like "[Force Persuade] Kill yourself with your lightsaber" will almost always fail unless the character getting persuaded has agreed to die (through PM to any Admin on at that time).
EX. Something like "[Force Persuade] Tell me your name" will work in most situations because it is not a big deal.
7.2 Unless you blatantly state that you are masking your character's thoughts or motives, anyone in tune with the Force can read them.
7.2.1 You can state that you opened a channel to specific people as well. Only those people can read your mind.
7.2.2 You can also say that your character was masking his thoughts and/or opened a channel to people for the whole time. If, however, you do this, you will not be able to undo it in the same topic.
8. Droids and Pets8.1 If a droid PC sells themself, the new owner cannot RP for the droid, as it is still a PC. That droid will travel on their owner's ship, and cannot be on a planet without them. If the owner wants to, they can sell their droid through the Holonet.
8.2If you buy a droid, it can come equipped with one weapon and any armor from Class A down. Any more weapons and better armor must be bought.
8.2.1 A droid NPC that is owned may carry extra items for the owner. They have five (5) weapon slots and may help steal a ship from dead characters (if you purchase a Piloting Interface for them).
8.2.2 A droid PC, however, follows the same rules as a normal PC.
8.3 All NPC droids purchased from stores come equipped with an ODDS chip (Owner's Death Deactivation Sequence). When the owner of the droid is killed, they automatically shut down, able to be stolen by the killer. However, the owner can (for a high price), have the ODDS chip removed. In this case, even if the owner is killed, the droid cannot be taken from them.
8.3.1 Any weapons in an NPC droid's inverntory must be listed in the Character Inventory dropdown, or in a separate dropdown. If this NPC droid has the ODDS chip removed, these weapons cannot be taken after the owner dies.
8.3.2 In order for a droid to pilot a ship, especially to steal it from a dead character, the owner must purchase a Piloting Interface for the droid. The purchase of other interfaces will allow NPC droids to do more tasks.
8.3.2.1 A droid may hold as many modifications and interfaces as you can purchase. These must also be listed in the dropdown. Do note that the more mods and interfaces purchased, the less agile your droid will be, and it will be held against them in "Did I"s against them.
8.3.3 All PC droids automatically come with a Piloting Interface and a removed ODDS chip. However, all other interfaces must be still be purchased.
8.4 Pets, when bought, are loyal to their owner, and cannot be stolen as any other item. Only Force Sensitive characters can affect an enemy's pet. They may use several scenarios of "Did I" during combat to sway a pet's opinion of their owner. They may also use a "Did I" coupled with Force Beast Control to try to steal the pet if they kill the owner.
