Draco had sent Kate's grandparents before they, themselves, appeared. He moved over to the nearest bed. "Stand back for now." He told them, calmly. As soon as he said that, he busied himself with the boy. He ran diagnostics and everything. He took a deep breath as soon as that was done. He waved his hand and the boy floated upwards before being encased in a blue bubble. With a sigh, he turned towards the family.

(I'll do the plot soon. ^^)

Veronica appeared in the healing center and took her hand off Draco's shoulder. She once again stood back out of the way, and watched Draco performing tests after tests on the boy. She was actually impressed as to how well draco was handling everything. She held her breath as he turned around and sighed, anxious to see what he was going to say.

Kate watched as Draco did these tests, a worried look on her face. Her grandparents stood behindher and her grandfather rested his hand on Kate's shoulder as he put his arm around her grandmother. They too wore worried expresstions. One of Kate's arms was folded aross her chest and the other was resting on it as she rested her other hand on the locket around her neck.

Draco rubbed his eyes before speaking. "He'll be alright. But...there's a problem. Not fatal or anything. Just something that concerns me." He murmered, flicking his wrist. The curtin closed around the boy as Draco moved to a different bed and sat down. "He'll sleep until I wake him." He murmered, softly. "Anyway, I believe he'll be fine phisically. I think I can heal him. Even if I can't, he'll still survive." He paused. "The thing that worries me is that he's marked by a Magid. This Magid claims the boy as his own to do with as he wishes. I know the Magid who has done this. Not long ago, I witnessed him hill many. Not long after that, he kidnapped me and a few friends. He marked me. It is not a visible mark, but a magical one that only Magids who know how may see. The boy is magical." He glanced towards Kate's brother. "He will be when he gets older, at least. This disease, or whatever it is, is only a way for the Magid to teach. I have suspended his body in a healing bubble. He'll be fine. But he'll have to stay here, I suspect." He finished, tiredly.

(And there's the plot. Lol. ^^ Kate's brother will be a Magid, and may gain his powers once he has woken if you wish. ^^)

Veronica gasped at the information. It was wonderful that he ws going to survive and be alright, but, th rest of the information was pretty bad. "She gave Kate a hug, as well as her grandparents, even though she didn't really know that. "I'm sorry to hear about your bad news" She began in a semi timid voice. "But, I think I'll leave you guys alone for a bit of family time." She said, as she gave Kate a last nod, and turned to Draco. "I'll see you later." She said with a half smile, before she began to head towards the exit.

Kate covered her mouth as she gasped. She was glad he was going to be okay, but she was concerned about her brother being used by a magid who, by the sounds of it, was very powerful. "Thank you." She said returning Veronica's hug with a slight smile. She turned to Draco. "Where will he stay?" She asked.

Draco turned. "Ver! Wait! Come back here." He called. He turned back to Kate as she spoke to him. "For now he will remain here. Afterwards He may stay with you or perhaps me. It depends on your wishes and what Cara says." He paused. "What is his name, and how old is he, again?" He asked, calmly.

Kate waited as Malfoy called to Veronica. "Okay. His name is Jake and he's seven years old." She replied when he spoke to her. She sat down on a bed across from Jake's.

Veronica turned around as she heard Draco call her. She walked back to where he was standing. "Whats the matter?" she said, concerned something might be wrong.

Draco nodded. "Jake, seven." He sighed and waved a hand. Ver, Kate, Kate's grandparents, and he were engulfed in blue light. Papers for each person appeared in his hands. He looked over them. "Alright. You can go in and visit with him, but don't touch the bubble. I'll be back in a little while to check on him." He smiled and stood. "Come on." He murmered to Ver and led the way out. "I had to make sure the Magid hadn't caused it to be contagious. It would kill, I expect." He told her, calmly.

Veronica gave a last smile to Kate as she followed Draco out of the room. "Ah" Said Veronica, as his actions made sense now. "Well, that would be completely horrible. So...it wasn't, contagious...right?" She asked in a slightly timid voice.

Kate smiled back at Veronica and walked over to the curtain, opening it slightly. Jake was hovering in the blue bubble, asleep. She looked at him with a thoughtful look as Draco and Veronica left. She wondered why someone would use her brother. The idea of it was horrible, and she didn't want to imagine what sort of things this person wanted with him.

Draco nodded. "That's right. We'll be fine." He smiled. He kissed her cheek. "Thanks, Ver." He smiled.

A look of relief passed over Veronicas face. "Oh, good!" She said as she grinned at him. She smiled so much when he kissed her cheek, and a tinge of pink started creeping up on her cheeks again. Boy, she really had to work on that whole blushing thing! "Thank me? You were the hero tonight, what are you thanking me for?" She asked with a small laugh.

Draco grinned. "I'm not great at compforting people and all. You did great. I've got to go report to Cara. I'll be back. Meet me here in an hour if you'd like. I may need your help." He gave a faint smile and tapped her chin before disappearing. About an hour later, Draco appeared and went into the Healing Centre. He moved into the curtined area and over to the boy. After a few tests he lowered the bubble. It disappeared and the boy lowere to the bed. "He should wake in just a few moments." He murmered, watching the boy.

(You're up, Kate. Lol. ^^)

Veronica smiled. "Well, thank you Draco." She said as she blushed a little bit more, and laughed. "Alright, see you soon." She said as he tapped her chin and disappeared. She grinned and went to the kitchens to get soem food before returning back an hour later. She walked into the healing center and saw Draco and everyone around the bed. "How is he doing?" She asked Draco when she got closer to everyone.

Kate stood there and watched him do more tests until he lowered the bubble. She walked over to the side of the bed as he lowered to the bed. Slowly, he opened his eyes and sat up looking around until he saw Kate. "Katie!" He yelled happily. She bent down and gave him a big hug, her eyes glazed over with tears of happiness that he was okay. "Thank you so much!" Kate said to Draco. Before she knew what she was doing, she threw her arms around Draco, giving him a big hug.

Draco smiled. "He's fine, I think." He hugged Kate when she hugged him. "He'll have to remain here for a few days so that we may keep an eye on him. After that he can roam the castle. Cara wishes him to stay here while the Magid is such a threat." He replied, calmly. "He should be great from now on." He nodded, smileing.

Realising she was huggin him, she pulled back. She cleared her thoat a little bit. "Sorry." She said blushing slightly. She listened as he explained the situation about her brother. "Okay sounds good. But what exactly is he after? And why does he want to use Jake?" She asked, the red in her cheeks vanishing.

Draco shook his head. "I don't know." He replied, softly. "Ver." He called her to him, holding out his arm. He turned back to Jake's family. "Would you like to stay here or return to your home?" He asked, calmly before turning to Jake. "Jake, do you understand what's going on?" He asked, softly.

Jake nodded. "Yeah I get to stay here at Katie's school." He said with a hint of excitement in his voice. Kate's grandparents also nodded. "Since Jake is okay, we should probably be getting back." Her grandfather said. They both smiled at them all.

Veronica smiled at Draco and moved towards him. She smiled at Kates little brother, and was glad the he was excited to be staying here, but, sad and sorry about the circumstances it was under. She grabbed Draco's extended arm and put it around her waist as she put her own arm around his shoulders, trying to offer him some comfort.

Kate smiled at Jake, who got up and ran up to her, giving her a hug around the waist. "Come here, Squirt!" Kate said as she smiled and picked him up. He stuck his tongue out at her and she smiled at the others.

Veronica smiled at Kate and the boy, it was so nice to see a family that actually spent time together, and got excited to see the other members. Veronica smiled. "Hi Jake, I'm veronica. I'm glad your feeling better!" She said as she smiled at Kate and her brother.

Jake beamed at Veronica. "Thanks!" He said brightly. He looked at her with crystal blue eyes; the same as Kate's eyes.

Draco laughed at Jake. "Come on, now. Back to bed. You aren't allowed to go running around or anything for a few days. I know it'll suck, but you need to stay in bed and recouperate." He told the boy with a smile. "I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy." He nodded. He turned towards her grandparents and smiled. "Alright. I'll send you updates to keep you informed. Thank you for comeing." He bowed to them before waveing his hand, sending them home. He turned back to the group. "Alright, now. You can stay awake if you're in bed, Jake. If you aren't, I'm going to put you to sleep and then put you in bed." He smiled. "It's important to keep an eye on you." He told the boy, calmly. He turned his head towards Ver. "It's getting late. I'll be staying with him all night here. If you'd like you can go on to bed." He told her, calmly, before turning towards Kate. "As may you, Kate. I expect you would want to stay with your brother, though." He commented, calmly.

Veronica smiled at Jake. Oh, how wonderful it would be to be so young and full of spirit.
Veronica looked at Draco and nodded. "Sure, I'll come down and check on you all tomorrow, sleep well." She said with a smile, as she gave a final goodbye hug to Kate, and then to Draco. "And goodnight Jake!" She smiled and headed towards the doors to go to her dorm and get some rest. It had been a long night indeed.

Jake and Kate waved to their grandparents before they left, then Jake nodded to Draco to assure that he understood. He hopped back into bed and layed down, waving and smiling at Veronica as she was leaving. Kate returned her hug. "Good night!" She said with a smile. "And thank you so much!" She turned to Draco. "I would also like to stay here with Jake." She said with a smile.

Draco smiled, hugging Ver with a smile and a "Good night." He watched her leave before turning towards Kate. "Of course." He nodded, turning to Jake with a smile. "I'm going to be keeping an eye on you both magically and physically. So, don't be surprised or scared if there's pretty lights flowing over you or whatever." He grinned.

Jake nodded. "Okay." He said, returning Draco's smile. Kate walked over to the bed next to Jake's and layed down. She turned on her side to face Jake's bed so that she could keep an eye on it.

Draco smiled, watching the boy. "Why don't you get some sleep?" He asked, starting to preform some tests on the boy, already.

Jake nodded and layed his head back. It took him only moments to drift off into sleep.

Draco stayed up all night running test after test that he could think of while doing his best not to wake them up. As morning appeared with it being around seven, Draco growled in frustration. He took a deep breath and just sat there, watching the sleeping boy.

(Oh.)

Jake remained in the same spot, sleeping soundly. Kate stirred a little bit. She opened her eyes slowly and saw Draco watching Jake. "Have you gotten any sleep?" She asked with some concern. She sat up slowly.

Draco looked at Kate a bit startled as he came out of his thoughts. He shook his head. "No. But I'll be fine, don't worry." He replied, softly. He turned his gaze back to her brother. "He's a fighter." He murmered, softly.

Kate looked at her brother, laying in the bed. "He's always been that way, ever since I can remember." Memories of her brother helping her out with work around the house back before their mother died flahsed through her mind. "He reminds me of our dad in some ways. Never wanting to give up and all." She swung her legs off the side of the bed and sat there, resting her elbows on her knees, watching Jake. In a way she looked up to him, even if he was her younger brother.

Draco nodded. "It's a good thing. If he wasn't such a fighter, he would've been better a lot sooner, and I never would have found that he was marked. If I didn't know, I couldn't try to protect him. However, I must tell you, I don't know if I can keep him safe. The Magid is very powerful. He's smart, too. I don't know what he wants, but he could take us at any time." He shook his head, sighing.

Kate nodded, continueing to look at Jake. "I won't let him have Jake. I don't care if he tortures me for eternity. I don't care what he does to me. I won't let him have him. I'll use every breath in my body to make sure of it." She looked at the floor, deep in thought.

Draco bit his lip for a moment, glanceing at Kate. He took a deep breath. "Kate, you know what Magids are like. What powers they have. I'm sorry to say this, but there's no way you could stop him. If he wants Jake, there's no possible way for you to stop him. I don't even know if I could stop him." He looked down at his hands.
