All right. It's ok to have non-lotr ones too, right?
The River in the Valley
I peer down into the valley; see the pattern that it weaves and spy a lonely alley made of branches and leaves.
The shelter of trees has a secret, something hiding deep within. As I come ever closer, I see it there, the place where a trickling river begins.
The quiet flow is like a hummingbird who has stopped its wings. And still the river’s proud and strong like a newly crowned king.
My eyes follow the river as it flows beneath my feet. They stop at the edge where I can see no more; where land and river seem to meet.
I cannot see the end, of course, of the quiet river bed. And yet, I still do wonder where this river does head.
Perhaps it continues on straight ahead, maybe turning once or twice, allowing a soft, smooth journey downstream, and a slow speed would suffice.
Maybe it turns first this way, then that as on and on it goes, growing faster, more dangerous with every turn as this winding river flows.
It might flow down until it stops at the bottom of a hill that is steep. Or it might just flow into a pond or lake, filling in holes that are deep.
As I ponder the course of the river I watch as it simply floats along, holding lily pads, cattails, flowers, and stones, and even a little green frog.
But they don’t seem to worry about where or how the river might bend. And I wonder if, like them, we also should stop worrying over how thing might end.
For life’s like a river, you only can see what lies directly ahead. You never will know how the water will flow, or if it will stop instead.
And we’re like the lily pad or the little green frog, we float as the river goes on. We don’t choose where we go, all we have to do is decide how we will respond.
As I leave the river to go to my home, I hear its sounds behind me. And now I know that as often as I can, by the river is where you’ll find me.

The Sounds of Music
What are the sounds that make beautiful music?
Are they trumpets? Their golden horns blaring, crying, yelling at listeners, blasting the melody for all to hear.
Are they flutes? Whistling, singing, humming, as reflections dance in the silver, notes flying higher than the sky.
Are they cymbals? Crashing, bashing, smashing, banging out the beat, ringing out loud in golden tones.
Are they voices? Singing, flying, soaring, floating overhead, echoing, flowing through rooms like streams.
What are the sounds that make beautiful music?
Blaring, crying, yelling, blasting, whistling, singing, humming, dancing, flying, crashing, bashing, smashing, banging, ringing, floating, soaring, echoing, flowing, ringing, dinging,
Are they the sounds that bring to life notes off a page?

The Story of Eowyn (PART ONE)
One warm summer night, while lying in bed, many, many thoughts filled the little boy’s head.
Why was his mother sick? This never occurred. She was always healthy, (which was very absurd.)
Suddenly, in the night, what did he hear? A noise filled the air: the sound of a tear.
He crept out of his room to find out why. For he thought he had heard a baby cry.
When he entered the room, he saw standing by, his wonderful father with a tear in his eye.
He was instantly frightened, yet kept looking on. Was his mother alright? Or... was she gone?
No, she was not gone. She was simply at rest. In her arms was a bundle, nestled up against her breast.
He snuck ever closer, and then in a whisper, his mother said, “Son, meet your new baby sister.”
He came a bit closer, and there what he saw was a baby in the bundle, the size of a doll.
His father said to him “Her name is Eowyn.” “Eowyn,” the boy repeated, then he let out a grin.
The baby was tiny, and oh, so frail. Her hair was golden, and her face very pale.
Eomer was sent back to bed, and as he sat in his room. He looked out the window at the bright full moon.
He did not know that this was the beginning of a life filled with love and with laughter, but also with strife.

(sry for so many posts, but I want to finish posting this poem)
(PART TWO)
As Eomer grew older, so did his sister. And Eowyn was happier than anyone could have wished her.
She played with her brother and all of his pals, because there were not many Edoras gals.
She was taught how to fight with only a stick, but she surprised the boys when she picked it up quick.
By Hama the guard how to read she was taught. And he was a good teacher, so her mother thought.
She played with her father and brother and such. And in playing with them she learned very much.
Yes, all this was good, until one fateful day, when at the age of seven her fun passed away.
The king heard it one day; a warning full of fear: “A band of orcs is coming. They’re coming right here!”
He sent out some riders to stop the onslaught. He was sure they’d be safe. At least...that’s what he thought.
When the riders returned from true victory, there was only one missing that Théoden could see.
He went straight to the home of his sister to tell of what happened in battle and how her husband fell.
Shortly after the news Lady Theodwyn grew sick. The disease was disastrous and it came on very quick.
Not long after this, Theodwyn took her last breath, and her family mourned because of her death.
King Théoden took pity on his nephew and niece, and he wondered how he could give them some peace.
So he took them both in, and made them his own. He hoped they’d be grateful for the love that he’d shown.
Eomer used riding to drown out his grief, but poor little Eowyn could find no relief.
She stayed with her uncle for nearly eight years, until one normal day, a stranger appeared.
He was a strange man with a much odder way of getting what he wanted from anyone, any day.
He came for one reason and one reason alone. He wanted to rule Rohan on Theoden’s throne.
But he told no one this, no, indeed he conspired, for helping the king was what he said he desired.
King Theoden didn’t know that Grima was mean. It was a quality that he had not yet seen.

(PART THREE)
So Grima became the king’s new counselor, but he spent half his time chasing after the girl.
For the next several years Eowyn fought to be free from the words of Grima Wormtongue and his false trickery.
While she fought a battle that was all but won, old Theoden was falling victim to the evil Wormtongue.
One day the full force of Grima was seen when that horrible Wormtongue came up with a scheme.
He called for young Theodred, the king’s only son, and sent him to a battle that could not be won.
Sure enough, poor Theodred was found to be dead, and it struck his poor cousins like a blow to the head.
But Grima was not done, no definitely not now. He had to get rid of Eomer, but how?
Well, he thought of a way and he though of it quick; a way to get rid of the man who just made him sick.
He banished poor Eomer he kicked him right out, and then went to Eowyn who had begun to pout.
While Eomer was gone poor Eowyn’s mood was about as good as burnt, rotten food.
Meanwhile, Eomer was out hunting orcs in his land and helping anybody who needed a hand.
One day, he came upon some very strange folk and he thought that their mission was just a big joke.
He sent them to Edoras, how well that may be, though why they were here was yet a mystery.
When they arrived the learned that all was distraught, for things in Edoras were not as they ought.
At the door of Meduseld the mission was paused, but only for a moment because of the laws.
The guard, Hama, however was a very kind man, and let Gandalf the wizard keep his staff in his hand.
This proved very useful, or so everyone learned, when Gandalf freed Theoden and the tide was turned.

(PART FOUR)
Grima was sent away to everyone’s joy, but then Theoden learned of the death of his boy.
Thus, a funeral was given to honor the fallen. Eowyn sang a song while all else were bawling.
After the funeral there came a surprise when two children arrived before everyone’s eyes.
They spoke of the horror of Saruman’s work, and how, in Edoras, the king should not lurk.
Theoden moved out his people, they made for Helm’s Deep, for there they’d be safe in the well-guarded keep.
On the way, young Eowyn learned many a thing, of Aragorn and his companions but naught of the Ring.
Then suddenly, out of nowhere there came a great shout, Saruman’s wargs had been spotted, by a far-ahead scout.
The men went to fight, as Eowyn wanted to, but Theoden said “No! Lead them on! I trust you.”
So the people continued until they had reached the place of the Hornburg that had never been breached.
Shortly after arriving the tired men retuned, and of Aragorn’s fall a sad Eowyn learned.
Sad and heartbroken poor Eowyn cried, for she thought that she knew that Aragorn had died.
But then, to her surprise, and to her delight, Aragorn came to Helm’s Deep with the coming of light.
However, the news that he brought was of war. “10,000 orcs are coming by nightfall, my lord.”
This saddened the king and also his men, for many orcs were coming: a thousand times ten.
They prepared for the battle for all the day long, all the while they pondered what else could go wrong.
Eowyn was anxious; she wanted to fight in the battle that probably would last the whole night.
But her uncle disagreed, that wouldn’t be safe. So he told her she’d stay with the women in the caves.
Eowyn grew angry for she wanted to fight, but she ended up doing what the king thought was right.
All night the battle of the Hornburg did rage, and Eowyn felt cooped up like a bird in a cage.
Well, finally it was over and hooray! They had won, for in the morning, Gandalf and the Rohirrim had come.
Eowyn was happy for the great victory, but of Aragorn’s survival more happy was she.

(PART FIVE)
Not long after the battle the king did depart to see Saruman’s home, now newly torn apart.
When the men returned, the mood had changed, it appeared. For there at Isengard, their joy disappeared.
For more war was needed, that now was known, for Pippin had looked into the Orthanc stone.
As Gandalf took Pippin and went far away, in Edoras the others for now had to stay.
But soon they received a message displayed: “The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!”
So Theoden answered, to Gondor they would ride. but Eowyn and Merry would not be by his side.
So Eowyn took Merry and together they went to the Dunharrow pass to join all the men.
Theoden gave Eowyn her orders one day, but he knew not then that she would not stay.
So disguised as a rider, as Dernhelm the strong, she set out on a road that was three days long.
When they got to the city, they saw a horrible sight. The orcs were already there, as they had been all night.
The riders had courage and bravery to spare, so they found it easy to slaughter all the orcs that were there.
Then what to their eyes should untimely appear but a herd of oliphaunts with their riders. Oh dear!

(PART SIX)
But Eowyn rode right in- she was ready to fight. And for quite a while she was doing all right.
But she was suddenly knocked off her horse to the ground, with all of those oliphaunts still marching around.
But then she looked around and saw, almost dead, poking out under a horse was Theoden’s head.
There was a great beast there with a rider as well. “Feast on his flesh,” the rider did yell.
But Eowyn grew angry and ran right between her uncle and the rider who was terribly mean.
“Do not come between a Nazgul and his prey. Or,” said the rider, “I’ll throw you away.”
“You will not touch him,” the poor soldier said. Then the great beast came at her and she cut off its head.
The Nazgul got mad, and rightfully so, for he had just suffered a terrible blow.
He walked over to Eowyn and started swinging his mace. He probably aimed to hit the soldier in the face.
But Eowyn was strong and fought valiantly, until a blow to her shoulder brought the girl to her knees.
She was about to die when up from behind, came a hobbit, with only one goal in mind.
Eowyn stood up, unhindered, and with one tiny breath, muttered, “I am no man,” and sent the Nazgul to his death.
Eowyn fell backward with quite an injury: a broken arm, and a shoulder touched by the rider’s fury.
For with the fallen foe comes an illness, almost death, that many people call the fatal “black breath”.
In addition to the illness, another sadness loomed, for the fallen horse had sent the king of Rohan to his doom.
Eowyn and Merry lay hurt on the ground, until, along with the king, by the soldiers they were found.
They were taken into the city, and then they both were brought to the houses of healing to rest, as they ought.

(PART SEVEN-THE FINAL PART)
There they were healed by the hands of the Dunedan, for in the ways of herbs and plants, he was a very skilled man.
When Eowyn awoke, Lord Aragorn was gone, and because she was bored she went out to the lawn.
Out in the courtyard poor Faramir stood. She was happy to see him for conversing is good.
For a long time the captain and the lady in white stood discussing certain things, like darkness and light.
Then as they stood, no longer alone, the two fell in love, in that city of stone.
Eowyn decided to leave her old home, and to go with her Faramir, wherever they may roam.
When the others returned from the battle at the gate, they knew it was time to finally celebrate.
Everyone was happy for the destruction of the Ring, and then Aragorn was crowned as Gondor’s new king.
King Aragorn gave Faramir an honor among men when he made him the Prince of fair Ithilien.
When all was said and done, Faramir took Eowyn by the hand, and together, with many others, they moved into their new land.
Eowyn dwelt in Ithilien with her Faramir so dear, and with her new son Elboron, for many a long, long year.
Of the rest of the story, not much can be told, except that she lived in Ithilien until she was very old.
But the story that has been told is very great indeed, for Eowyn was the girl that fought for anyone in need.
THE END (Sorry for the length, but I was going for long!)
