I found this RPG on another site, the A-U forum, and I thought it would be fun to play out here. Here's the story:
There are 3 realms upon a large island (something like the size of Australia.) called: Bracus, Maxen and Sorinor. There is also a huge area of land in the north of this island called the waste lands, a barren desert filled with evil men. Bracus is the smallest but richest of the three and is located to the west. Maxen is the next biggest and is full of barbarians in the east. Sorinor is the largest of the three and is stuck in the middle.
A war broke out in Sorinor because the king died with supposedly no heirs which created a power struggle for the throne between the barbarians of Maxen and the men of Bracus.
Sorinor has now become a battle ground for the two opposing armies and the people are forced into slavery. Unless a true heir can be found then the war will continue on until one side gives in.

Basically, most characters are from Sorinor. Some are slaves, some are not. You can choose to be from any side, though.

I just thought that it might be fun to try out.

Maposin walked into the tavern in a small village in Sorinor. Nobody recognized him, no one knew who he was or where he was from. All that they knew was that he was here now.
He didn't order anything to drink. All he wanted was to hear talk of the war and how it was going. He wanted to know when it all would end.

Yilna was dehydrated, tired and hot. She longed for a long, cold bath, for she felt filthy for being dragged for miles of hot desert. Dirt covered her hair and her face...her clothes were rags that barely did anything to protect her. Her feet dragged below her, blistered and sore. Yilna's wrists burned and hurt from carrying the weight of the shackles that bound them. In front of her was her older brother and behind her was her father. As soon as she entered the town, barbarous looking men began to yell foul words at them and throw unsanitary objects at them.
Yilna's green eyes shifted from left to right in fear, for the many men began to advance on them. The man leading them dismounted and began yelling at them. Yilna looked around and saw people in a small, open tavern look over at them, curious it seemed to her, to see who had been dragged into the city that day.

Maposin looked around the tavern. There was nobody here who was talking, which was strange for a tavern. He headed outside, hoping that there would be more action outside. As he headed outside, he watched in horror as a group of slaves were marched into the village. He hated this whole slave thing, and it hurt him to see them like this. He lowered his head as they passed, but he saw one poor girl who stood out from the others. Her eyes shined differently than the others. His eyes followed her for a moment, then he continued on his way.

A crack of a whip took Yilna out of her dazed state. Turning she looked in horror as her older brother fell to the ground coughing up blood. Her eyes widened at the raw whip markings on his back.
"What are you looking at, filth?" The man holding the whip said, getting close to her ear. She trembled in fear and lowered her eyes. Yilna noticed that the man expected an answer instead of obeyed silence. He realed back the arm holding the whip. Closing her eyes, she awaited the sharp pain, but it never came. Slowly opening her eyes, she looked up at the large man. His arm was being held back by someone. the glare of the sun hid the person's face. Before the large man could strangle free from the person's handhold, Yilna helped up her brother and guided him into the small prison.
