Yeah, this is gonna be the thing that I want to build the Scorpion from:

What'd be a better name: Vaul portal or Portal of Vaul?

I made the base for it. The struts are from the Support portal, as well as the Webway stones.
Same with the textures - I made the texture for the base, basing it off the support portal.

Do I need to add any other details to this large building (2 - 3 times the length of the support portal, & wider too!)?

Constructive critisism welcome.

Well, center is too cubic IMO... Could use a little roundness there
Vaul portal seems to work for me... And some side columns cross-linked glare effect would be nice.

portal of vaul sounds big, ancient, reveered or whatever...and vaul portal makes it sound more ordinary, you know what i mean?

I rendered it in Max, not in the Object editor. Therefore the FX will appear later.

I can't make any shape changes to the model now. If I were to make it more round, then that would take up more polygons, which is not good, considering the model's over the casual polygon limit anyways.

It's gonna work in a similar way to the support portal.

will it only produce the scorpian, like the mars pattern command only makes the baneblade? or will it produce the other extra vehicles (assuming there are others) like the extra space marine production building does

At the moment, we only have the scorpion that I worked on.

However, the 2 webway stones are deliberately there because the building's designed to be upgraded to produce extra units (& can research a few things too).

One of them will hopefully be the Cobra -

However, I sure as hell am not gonna use the type one design, oh no!

I'm gonna save myself much work by modeling a completely new turret for the vehicle to be attached to the Scorpion type 2 chassis that we already have. Since there's no official rules for a type II Cobra, I could potentially change things.
However, it'll still only have the one weapon, which is one of the nastiest titan destroyers ingame - the Cobra distort cannon.

This thing will be able to destroy a gargantuan squiggoth ingame with a single blast. It'll also be classed as an artillery weapon, so it can hide behind a large obstacle & bombard things from the safety of cover.

It will however be a rather short-ranged weapon, as in tabletop. I reckon that 40 to 45 game units will be a suitable range for it.

Very long reload. I think that 8 secinds would work.
That'd mean though that to keep it balanced with the tabletop rules (it shoots eery turn), I'd have to crank up the power on this beast!

8000 pts of damage minimum. Nothing ingame at the moment (apart from the baneblade) will survive this weapon in a single shot!
Extra damage will be done to non vehicle & building things, to represent the tabletop rules.

yeah biggrin.gif, and do you plan to have the 1000 unit caps from leftout units mod?
and are you going to use fatality mod damge levels?

The caps will be as in the Fatality mod, so they'll be normal (apart from Orks).

The damage values from my Fatality mod will remain though, & they'll be transferred to new units too.

blast radius... Not much bigger than the standard D-cannon. Probably 7.5 metres.

Vaul portal will sound like all normal Eldar stuctures with First adjective and Second noun.
Man... Predator has 4... and does hardly 800 damage per blast in WA and it's quite normal... with 8000 you'd need some 12-16 secs at least
I bet the thing will have huge AoE... So need some balance on this.

Well, maybe 10 seconds.

Do remember that this weapon is really powerful, & it IS an Eldar weapon - so you'd assume that it'd be fast firing.

Yup, that's about right!

Remember, the Cobra is NOT an anti-infantry tank, despite its blast radius.

It makes more sense to use the scorpion as an anti-infantry tank than a cobra, & furthurmore, the scorpion isn't really an anti-infantry tank either!

Maybe the blast radius of the Cobra's cannon should be slightly smaller than that of the battle cannon. I reckon that should be a fair compromise.

The tank will be expensive, no doubt. Limit of one too.

well, if the aim is to include as many units from the TT as possible, and as close to its TT ability as possible, then you can't leave out units like that...though you could make it have like a vehicle cap use of 6-8, i mean...the basiliks in fatality mod are like GODS
