Are you actually planning on playing with the Eldar force?

If so, then get lots of aircraft biggrin.gif My phoenix has served me well, & that's just one!

Dire avengers are also worth using now... Against horde armies. Very good against orks now as you can dance them, quite unlike what occured in the previous codex.

I have no real recommendations on what you should get specifically, but they definately have the best flying units ingame. Also have the best looking ones IMO too, & the vampire raiders sure make fun transports (albeit they're a bit underpowered).

My idea

Autarch on Jetbike
Shinning Spears

Dire Avengers

Dark Reapers
Rangers
Wraithguard
Howling Banshees
Striking Scorpians
Fire Dragons (I like em)
Swooping Hawks

Vyper Squad
Wave serpent Per Squad
Fire Prism
Scorpian Mk2
Cobras

Wraithlords

Flyers

Thats my proposed wish list, i love fire dragons for some reason o and all the pheonix lords

Eldar Super heavy tanks suck IMO (game-wise), at least, the forgeworld rules do. The apocalypse rules on the other hand are slightly better.

Cobras are good, but are too short-ranged to be of great effect as a titan killer. They can get gunned down by anything that gets within range & good strength.

Titans are irrelevant. Probably not that helpful in this situation either.

So it's really the flyers that are good. They're hard to gun down, & the larger ones have a fair amount of structure points (despite the weak armour), along with good arnaments.

Still, the Vampire raider is probably better than the hunter. The one advantage (that I know of) with the hunter is that it comes readily with twin-linked pulsars. However, it has no transport capacity.
The Vampire raider however can carry 30 models (or 15 wraithguards), and can sacrifice 10 of its capacity to have a hull-mounted pulsar! It's not twin-linked, but considering the ballistic skill of 4, I'm unsure if a linked pulsar would provide much benefit.
Problem is that it costs 200 points /(0.o)\

Skimmers (a la the super heavy tanks) are okay, but with the proposed 5ed changes coming up, I see Eldar skimmers and Super Heavies relegated to the trashheap (they lose a lot of their benefits, which is fair I presume - moving Skimmers atm are frigging unkillable).

I would take Flyers over skimmers every time, as they are much harder to take down (hit on 6s only, melta weapons are never gonna be in range, etc, etc).

5th edition changes? Where'd you find out about these?

Sounds like bad news for eldar. Some people however think that the current eldar rules are broken too :S

Hey. I'm new to this forum, although I've played DoW and TT, and TTRU (SS) for a long time.

I have two armies, Tau and Necrons - and that's not because I loved DC that much.

I have 3500 points of Necrons:

HQ:
Nightbringer
Lord with Destroyer body, phylactery, Gaze of flame, Phase shifter, Chronometron and Warcythe.

Elites:
Two units of ten Flayed Ones

Troops:
Two units of twenty, and four units of ten Warriors.

Fast Attack:
Two units of five Destroyers
Ten Scarab swarms, with disruption fields

Heavy support:
Two Monoliths - Phalanx for Apocalypse

I'm planning to get a unit of ten Pariahs and a unit of three Heavy Destroyers, and maybe a Lord on foot.

I have considerably less Tau:

HQ:
Shas'O with Plasma rifle, Shield generator, Stimulant injector, Fusion blaster (Or Missile pod), Hard-wired Multi tracker, Hard-wired Drone Controller, two Gun drones, and occasionally *Hard-wired Blacksun filter, and occasionally Iridium armour.

Elites:
Two Crisis battlesuit Shas'vres. Both have the same equipment - Plasma rifle, Missile pod (Or Fusion blaster), Targeting array, Hard-wired Drone Controller, two gun drones and occasionally stuff*.
Unit of six stealthsuits, all with targeting arrays, bonded, with two Gun drones, and two of them have Fusion blasters. The Shas'vre has a markerlight and Hard-wired Target lock.

Troops:
Two squads of Fire Warriors, both with Devilfish transports. All Pulse rifles, and photon grenades. Both have Shas'ui with Markerlight, and are bonded. The Devilfish have two Seeker Missiles each, two gun drones, Decoy launchers, Disruption pods, and Targeting arrays, Flechette launchers, and occasionally Blacksun filters.

Fast Attack:
None yet, but I'm planning on getting Piranhas, and maybe some Forgeworld Tetras.

Heavy Support:
Three Hammerheads, two with Burst cannons and Railguns, and one with Ion Cannon and SMS. All have Decoy launchers, Disruption pods, two SMs each, Multi-trackers, Target locks, Flechette launchers, and occasionally Blacksun filters. The one with the Ion Cannon is the Command Tank in the Interdiction force in Apocalypse.
One Sky-ray, with all the goodies that the Hammerheads have, and also a targeting array, and two burst cannons.

I'm going to get lots more Fire warriors with their Devilfish transports as well. I'm also going to expand the Crisis teams to three each, and I'm considering an Ethereal with an honour guard (7 Shas'la, one Shas'ui with markerlight, two gun drones, and a shield drone for the Ethereal, all armed with Pulse rifles and photon grenades) and transport (same as other Devilfish) as well.
