What works for me is I pick a skill, a producing skill, (Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining..etc. Any skill which you get produce from for free.)

And I level that skill, and do the most productive way to make money on that skill and I get that skill to 99. Sure. It's not going to be easy, but worth it in the long run. With hard work and determination you can go a long long way.

But, I'm not going to lie, it's going to take a good while, especially if you are easily distracted like me.

It's what I did with woodcutting and am currently doing with fishing. I'm making money just fine. Hope this helps. :P
