"NEW STAR" GREEK LABEL, some information

I've got a VHS from New Star label of Franco's Exorcisme (herdcore version) and I wonder how ilegal is it? the sleeve is good quality (not art, but paper and print). The movie plays owful, dark and grainy. plays inmediately, no label presentation or vertical color bars. when the on screen title is shown also displays Midnight Video logo down-right side.
Can you guys tell me something about this label? is that cheap? or the collector who gave me the VHS just had fun of me?

NEW STAR label has released a lot of exploitation tapes a few years ago, you could buy them brand-new but they were also in the videoclubs as rental.

Now the company release DVD only and they have tons of exploitation releases.

Their quality usually is good but that EXORCISME is rather bad. But is a rare h/c print taken obviously from Midnight Video. The tape you have is a Greek original...

I know some collectors in Greece who don't like the company so much but their releases are official. As for the "illegal" you say, if you mean copyrights I don't know, you should ask the company for that info

I say Ilegal because of the Midnight Video Logo. no label presentation, no color bars, no legal advertisement (you know: "the copy is protected under law... etc etc"), no nothing just the movie. I mean, not even here in Ilegaland movies are released in such a poor conditions. But, if you says it's official...
Now that I remember when the movie ends if you keep the tape playing several minutes there's another movie!! obviously Exorcisme was recorded over this one!!

They usually have a label presentation...They also print several promotional mags/books that you could find in Videoclubs here and EXORCISME is an official release even in bad quality. But I must say again, I don't know about copyrights...

As I can see you are very sure what you say I believe you and can see your point. My conclusion is that the collector who gave me the VHS gave me the original box and sleeve and probably cassette but the tape inside and the recording are not the original ones. Maybe the original tape was damaged and he just used another copy as master and recorded it in an used tape that later put into the cassette. Something like that must have happened. What's more strange for me is that there's only the movie. but who know... Thanks for you help anyway

Well, someone could've made a boot off the Greek tape making it look more or less like the org. tape. Not all bootleggers customise their 'releases'.
