I just finished Flann O'Brien's "the third policeman" and I really have to recommend this mad piece of genius. It's a bit like Alice in Wonderland crossed with Monty Python. The first chapter is not very exciting yet, but after that it just gets curiouser and curiouser!

Before that I read "Venus in Furs". Well written and interesting and of course it became famous for its subject. It might have too much of that fin-du-siecle decadent 'show off how well cultured you are' vibe for some though, but I liked it a lot.

And before that I finally delved into a little Jim Thompson. I have had an omnibus of his most famous novels for years, but what made me pick it up now was the news that Michael Winterbottom has made a movie of "the Killer Inside Me" that is supposedly not only very shocking but also very good. The book, I have to say, is VERY good. It's hardboiled pulp, but clearly mister Thompson is as well cultured as any of the above writers. He knows how to tell a gripping story and at the same time delves into the mind of a killer in an unflinching way like not many would or could.

Yup, Jim Thompson's novels are essential hard-boiled stuff...just finished his "Nothing man" lately...a great writer!

Not much to read, but i love this book about celebrating Halloween by wearing strange costumes and masks. The book shows a lot of old black and white pictures of people dressed for this special day. It's fantastic, sometimes eerie and weird. Totally fascinating. Foreword by the one and only David Lynch!

Very cool, Johell. cool.gif

I'm re-reading Charles Bukowski's "Women", this time in English.

HERE COME THE KUNG FU CLONES by Carl Jones

I've track down this one for a while. Couldn't find it anywhere for some time now, because it was already out of print. But, finally got the chance to find one copy for less than 10 dollars! Happy!! biggrin.gif
