Last week I received a DVD from director Elias (Biff Juggernaut Productions) for review/coverage: "LovecraCked! The Movie"

This is the debut feature film from "Biff Juggernaut Productions". Back in the 2000s they made a short B/W sick & bloody film called THE VOICE INSIDE (it's in the EXTRAS of this DVD here). THE VOICE INSIDE won several prizes in many independent film festivals, pretty fair as it's a small masterpiece! Director Elias stars as a young man who hears a deep antagonistic voice from inside. Pills won't help him and his living nightmare will end into a bloodbath as he not only hits his head on the wall but even...rapes himself from behind with the back of a hammer !!

LOVECRACKED! THE MOVIE is a horror/comedy anthology inspired by author H.P. Lovecraft. The film is an international collaboration of directors from USA, UK & Sweden. Some short films left outside but you could watch them at the EXTRAS of the disc (these were left outside fairly, I beleive, as they're not something really special...except from one title, THE MASTURBATING GHOST, that is a mediocre film but with the title of the decade, don't you think?)

I love Lovecraft's horror world (even better than Poe!) but I never liked films based on his work...How could you film the unseen? Some of those films are cool, OK, but they're NOT Lovecraft...

Also I don't really like horror comedies. I can't laugh with horror, I hate that. Of course there are some great horror comedies, like the two Italian Morrisey films (Blood for Dracula & Flesh for Frankenstein), the Roman Polanski vampire movie and the first RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD...also some Hong Kong films that often compine horror with laughs succesfully. But these are only a few exceptions I'm affraid.

In LOVECRACKED! THE MOVIE the story follows the exploits of a bumbling investigative journalist (played by Elias) as he struggles to deduce the truth behind Lovecraft's life & work. Along the way horrific tales (short films) play out, shot in colour or B/W. In my opinion the hilarious spaces with the journalist's investigations are dull and not really inspired, I'm sorry...Well, oh, I don't know, maybe it's that I never liked this type of fun through a horror film...if you like that you'll probably love this one here.
But the short movies are interesting, inspired, sick, bloody, all serious and not funny at all. You will not understand the Lovecraft's world if you watch them, that's for sure, but you'll get an idea. If you throw out the silly presents of the journalist (you can't laugh with Lovecraft man!) and you watch ONLY the short films you'll enoy the movie much better!

The best shorts are WITCH'S SPRING (a very sexy one!) & another tale (something about "Flesh") into the woods where someone carries a girl in his back and try later to butcher her...but stopped by a passing man who kills him with a knife...just to find out that the girl is in fact a long-haired demon...and it's alive!
Also the last film, an animation video-clip, is excellent (Lovecraft himself is animated here succesfully!)

But the best, the most sick, the most bloody, the most sleazy, the most pervert of all is a disgusting and almost porn (softcore indeed) version of Re-Animator called RE-PENETRATOR !! A mad scientist f*ck to death his naked female creature. Well, in fact SHE f*ck him at the end! A strong shock, a masterpiece, you must see to beleive !!! blink.gif

LOVECRACKED! THE MOVIE comes on a beautiful disc smile.gif with a great cover, very nice authoring, excellent picture & sound quality plus many Extras: "The Voice Inside" short film (I could buy the disc only for this one!), Other short films - outakes from the movie, Blooper Reel, Music Videos, Trailer...

Featuring: Troma's Lloyd Kaufman, Dan Payne, Chad Bernhard, Matt Renicks, Tom Wontner, and horror/porn queen Joanna Angel.

So go now and grab a copy !!
You could buy the original DVD directly from their site:

Continue the good job boys !!
And, Elias, you seem a very clever & good guy with many ideas. Your acting is great (especially in THE VOICE INSIDE), but I'm sorry sad.gif that I don't like tons of fun in horrors, OK? Cheers !!

I know nothing about LOVECRACKED but you're right my man,you cannot film Lovecraft. His novels are the most scary of all times, terror never show its face and there's a whole philosophy behind his words about the life on earth before humans.Viva Cthulu!

As I promised I post (in a new thread) a Q&A with director/actor/producer ELIAS.

In fact is HE that takes the interview from...himself laugh.gif

As you've already know one of my main purposes is to help independent filmakers, so expect more & more interviews and reviews !!
