That is a trader-friend's tape(our very own 'mark caine') that he has bunged on Ebay...definitely worth a shot if you have the cash because you are unlikely to see that tape come up again anytime soon! One of only TWO tapes of that release i have seen. A second Spanish video version was released under a different title and is equally as rare.
A poor quality Italian TV copy has popped up on one or two cult-film related torrent sites too and some fansubs have been created for it. But this Spanish version is much better quality and a real rare collector's piece! |

It was through Richard I heard about the movie. What's it like? No reviews to be found, or none that I've found. The tv-rip can be found on 'geddon, but has anyone seen the subs? -------------------- |

The Spanish version is nearly 2 minutes longer than the Italian tv version with a different opening titles score. Some Polselli and Vani involvement in this one as well from what i've read.

I had heard speculation about Renato or Bruno being involved in shooting this or some of it, but such talk stemmed from online forums and had no evidence to support it. The talk was based more on the feeling that some of the scenes had a Polsellian quality to the look of them. Renato himself had never mentioned this film though over the years, even after admitting that he and Bruno occasionally worked together on films where one would direct and give credit to the other and vice-versa. But LA PELLE SOTTO GLI ARTIGLI is one of those some feel is a possible Polselli film but one that remains unspoken of by the master himself throughout the years.
There are times in the film though where it smacks of a Polselli-touch, with some high-angle shots in rooms, the rooms themselves, etc. but none of that can be attributed specifially to Renato or Bruno based on such flimsy evidence. Besides, Alessandro Santini worked with Bruno and Renato a few times so it is not too much of a stretch to believe he could have picked up some habits from them. Saying that though, i guess it is not too much of a stretch to believe Renato or Bruno helped on this production in some small way, working for a little money in their pockets just for assisting shoot some footage or whatever...i guess we may never know! lol That's the thing with Renato though...even over the years when he was chatting on rare occasions with genre-journos he wouldn't always recall much information about his career. He would talk about the films he directed and was remembered for and maybe at a push mention some he worked on as writer, etc. to small degree but there was so much that we didn't get to find out about the man and his career. Plenty of films he supervised dubbing on, imported films, production manager duties, porn, stories he wrote for magazines, poems, etc. Anytime Renato was prompted about some of the more obscure elements of his career, he would be very hazy, sometimes recollecting some small nuggets of information but otherwise sketchy. It was as if he had become resigned to the fact that the only little interest in his career was for the films he directed and even then that people cared little for half of those and were only keen to chat about the horror and erotic-1970s output and had seemingly put the rest of his career to the back of his mind as a result. A shame...=( If anyone is considering snapping up that LA PELLE SOTTO GLI ARTIGLI tape though, i would recommend it. The film is a curious little flick, worth watching, and the tape is a super-rare one and definitely not to be ignored...because once this one goes it may be quite some time before you come across another! |
