I just received two French cinema posters of Indo films and I hadn't quite realised just how big they are! 47 x 63" inches - (120x160cm). My god, that's close to two metres on the vertical side!

Do any of you have posters on your walls that are that big? Have you got them framed? (and did they get pissed off about it? haha).

I have a French one of Les monstres du continent perdu aka Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975) hanging on my wall here, not framed btw.

The huge Italian ones are more difficult to hang on the wall because they are usually in several pieces.

I've always intended to start a thread on this exact thing, but it always slipped my mind. I think it's certainly possible to get a custom frame, but it would be incredibly expensive. I wouldn't tape the poster up, because 1) it's tacky and 2) it gets tape on the poster. In college I made due with "Sticky Tack," an adhesive gum for hanging posters. It was okay, but 1) the gum always leaves a slight mark on unlaminated paper (not horrible here because it's the back, but I'd still prefer it weren't the case) and 2) the poster is still left exposed, and who knows what calamity could happen. Especially in college, I was worried about this sometimes, if some drunken idiot would stumble through and spill beer all over my poster. I did have a beer explode once, but thankfully it only got on my PECKER (John Waters' PECKER, that is! tongue.gif), so it wasn't a big loss.

Friends have suggested these poster hanging devices that are basically a long clip around the top and then an identical weight clip at the bottom, so it keeps the poster hanging and smooth by the force of the bottom part. But, 1) again, the poster is exposed to harm and 2) with the French posters, they are always folded and are brittle at the folds, so I am sure this would rip them. So these are more for you DARK KNIGHT poster you got at Fry's Electronics for $3.99

Basically, Jack, short answer is, I've yet to find a way myself, aside from tape (which I refuse) or sticky tack, which I would also prefer not to do. I think I only have two of these, SIDEWALKS OF BANGKOK and NIGHT OF THE HUNTED (signed by Jean Rollin himself!). I would LOVE to have NIGHT OF THE HUNTED hanging, but, after taking it down in college, I think I will have to wait til I am rich and can buy a huge custom frame for it. I'm not covering it in sticky tack again now that it's signed, and there is no other way I can think of.

Oh man, I've decided it's a pest owning posters that big! angry.gif

I think you're right, John. The only way to go is down the multo expensivo custom frame road. I've asked a couple of serious poster collectors and they say you can get them framed really well but it'll cost ya (me!). I think I'll put them somewhere safe for the time being.

Btw, in the past I've used Blue Tack that I bought in Australia, fortunately only on a few chap posters (I would assume it's the same as "Sticky Tack"). It's alright if you only use it for a couple of years but I learnt that it will eventually seep thru the paper and make round see-thru spots!! It completely sucked out the colour! It doesn't happen overnight tho but like I said it takes a long time, 4-5 years maybe.

I have two on my walls but not framed. I just got a pice of carton in the corners of the posters and pinned them to the wall. A frame for those huge posters is way too expensive and way too big for my car.
They look however amazing!

I have a bunch of these big posters (Horror Star/The Fly/Hitcher/Brain Damage/Bad Taste/Zombie 2/Laserblast/Horror of Frankenstein/Killing Birds and more)
I think the best way is to use magnets. Measure the exact size and glue 4 magnets on the wall. And stick the poster on the wall by using 4 more magnets.

You could also saw 4 pieces of cheap-ass wood in frame-size and screw these on the wall with the poster in it. Not easy to replace it, but it looks nice.
