Hi.
I'm relatively new to the forum in posting terms, but many of you will know me from over pre-cert.co.uk I'm obsessively into collecting VRO tapes at the mo, and the company fascinates me. I recently put together a comprehensive guide to VRO on pre-cert (which if anyone is interested in reading pls feel free to click the link - if your a member over there that is http://www.pre-cert.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=32250). But the question was raised as to whether I thought VCD had ties with VRO. Over in the UK, Video Network acted as the sales management and distribution agent for VROs UK sales, and using the VRO franchise name, aquired a whole range of small time companies to distribute titles. Companies like Cavalcade, Valiant, LVC, Vibrant, Direct and various others. In Holland it appears to me from only my expereince in buying tapes, that although the VRO franchise approach was used, only two companies led the way in distribution: Broadway and Telion. The knowledge base outside the UK with many english collectors over at pre-cert is hazy at best (understandable) so i thought cine would perhaps be another anvenue to explore this further. Were there any other companies distributing VRO's brand around Holland besides the two mentioned above? And even more pressing, does anyone feel VCD had a connection with VRO? Or is the similarity in sleeve designs and some titles coinsidence? Not having ever held a VCD title i'm not in a position to favour either way. Much appreciated. C |
