San Duk Bei Do - classic kung fu, drags a bit in the middle but has got great "one against many" battles.

There Will Be Blood - an epic and horrific comedy, so, pure pt anderson stuff (but not as good as no country for old men smile.gif)

La Regina dei Tartari - old skool adventure that looks good and has enough tempo to keep you entertained. It falls a bit flat compared to modern filmmaking techniques but I still like it.

I bought and watched that the other day (on UK dvd) and although I thought some of the actors were terrible I did enjoy it quite a bit. I loved the splatter-films back in the day and I enjoy this return to the genre. WT2 is very gory and that's what matters here. Oh, and ol'e 'Black Flag' Henry totally kicks ass! I must admit I cracked up every time he was onscreen. laugh.gif
I just bought his 'The Henry Rollins Show' season 1 on DVD. Great stuff. biggrin.gif

I did not find Wrong Turn 2 as entertaining as the first one, but it had enough blood and gore to keep me satisfied.. cool.gif

Last night I (half) saw on TV La Puerta y la mujer del carnicero, a Mexican movie. Well, it's two short stories movie. The first one is about a house. There is a party and one of the guests opens a door and there's a long dark corridor and in the end of it a tall, never clearly seen "been from another planet or galaxy or dimension". Every time the door is opened the creature walks to it and when it's closed the creature comes back to the end of the corridor. Wow! you can't image the atmosphere this plot makes you feel. It's like a Twilight Zone episode. Unfortunately the ending is quite unconvincing. The other story didn't see it 'cause was too late and went to sleep. But it deserves be seen just for this first story.

Two latest were Mattei movies Alienators aka Terminator 2 and Notti porno nel mondo and both were a bit disappointing. Notti porno nel mondo was nice lounge stuff w/ lots of striptease numbers but not nearly as good as masterfull Follie di notte in any aspect. Very nice cinematography though. Is the sequel better? For Alienators I had great expectations as Robowar is one of my favourite Mattei pieces by far but this time the double ripoff high consept didn't work quite as well. Running around in service tunnels with guns dodging clumsy monsters just isn't my idea of good time. Great ending though and as everythng by Mattei, both still well worth your time.

Another disappoinment was Mystery of Monster Island which was quite inferior to J.P. Simon's first Verne movie Journey to the Center of the Earth though it featured some amazing special effects stuff. How the hell did they do those 4 meter high rubber suit monsters?

Female Prisoner Scorpion: Beast Stable was exelent slow paced sequel, somewhat as good as the previous ones and pretty much lacking actual WIP stuff which was nice for a change.

I just saw Franco's Jack the Ripper, it didn't quite live up to my expectations, but I enjoyed it.

Psychologically it's not a very good Jack the Ripper movie as killers traumas are a bit banal source of inspiration for all that legedary mayhem. Still, quite nice hazy and burlesque Franco stuff. Erwin C. Dietrich's interview on DVD is priceless cool.gif .
